  • Shrew Bows Classic Hunter ll Review
In this video I review the Shrew Bows Classic Hunter ll. Ron LaClair has teamed up with Henry Bodnik of Bodnik Bows to produce this timeless classic.
The original Shrew was a bold innovation because at that time unlike now, no one was making a longbow that short. The impression was that short bows stacked and were unstable. It didn't take long for the little Shrew with it's forward design handle and deflex reflex limbs to knock that theory into a cocked hat.
NOW, WE'VE DONE IT AGAIN. The new improved Shrew Classic Hunter II is smoother and faster than the old Classic Hunter.
The Classic II has a more aggressive limb design but more importantly the limbs were designed on a CAD program to optimize performance while maintaining what is basically an unlimited butter smooth draw. The Classic II is built on a completely new form. This form was designed in the CAD program as well to ensure accuracy and perfectly balanced limbs, then cut out on a CNC machine. This makes sure that the form we use is perfect in every way. There are no flat spots in these limbs! They're perfect!
Like its namesake, the new Shrew Classic Hunter II is pound for pound the most efficient little killing machine around!

Having a personal connection with Henry, I've had the privilege of using his own bow during training sessions, and my admiration for him has only grown. He's truly a great man. I'm a subscriber to your channel, and the shared love for Shrew bows brings our community together. Sending my best wishes, and a big thank you for your impeccable review of this bow.

I own 2 Super Shrew bows and while I agree the Whisper String is a decent string I found using a Grizzly Hybrid string improved the performance of the bows and is even quieter !! I’m not sure why one might recommend padding the string grooves. The fit and finish on the grooves is flawless so I expect it might be a marketing ploy !! That being said there is no doubt that the Shrew and Super Shrew Bows are flat out amazing !!! Wingman your review may be the best bow review I’ve ever heard !!! Henri Bodnick and Ron La Clair did produce a gem of a bow !!

Great review, and what a nice bow. I'm a big fan of Henry Bodnik's bows also. Really enjoy his vids as well. Mine are the basic 60" Slick Stick from Kustom King in 35# and 50#. I just love that shorter hybrid R/D design. And they are a smooth draw to my 31.5" draw length.

HI Wingman, thanks for the very comprehensive review of this bow 😊. Oh how I would like one of these bows 🤩 and in that same wood combination as yours, it is such a beautiful looking bow 😍. Maybe I will persuade myself to part with the money for one in 2021 😊.
Do you enjoy Robin Hooding your arrows 😊, its kinda fun when done but when its done to a couple of brand spanking newly made ones it irks me somewhat nowadays 😑.
To prevent it I now use goldtip uni bushings in my gold tip trads and then easton large groove G nocks with the inserted parts scraped down a bit so they fit 👍🏽. I have trashed a few nocks but never actually Robin Hood the shafts and ruin the arrows any more 🤗. I live in UK and arrows are rather expensive over here 😖. I am currently shooting the Bodnik Slick Stick 58" its a nice bow but im never fully happy with the grip. I have a 45lb one and a 40lb one and both have different grips, the 40lb one has a very short grip and it ends up pivoting in my palm on the bottom edge of the grip 😑. The 45lb one has more palm swell a thinner and higher throat and is longer and does not end up pivoting on the lower edge of grip 🤔 so I am fully understanding your views on the need for a grip that feels right so you can concentrate entirely on shooting and not have that nagging little annoyance of the grip to distract you 👍🏽.
