Plug and play is utter bullshit in 2024. There's so little difference in easy of use between a PS5 and a PC with Steam that it's a non factor unless you're a literal alien with 0 experience with human technology. It's like people claiming iPhones are easier to use like it's 2010.

Now that I’ve had a PC for a couple years I realize how misleading the marketing is, it’s actually crazy. I think it’s just genuine ignorance, people just haven’t experienced it so there’s naturally a lot of things you aren’t going to be aware of.

I saw someone say "it's nice to hear the truth and confirm what you were already thinking" once in Reddit. I thought they were joking but then I looked at their profile and the replies. They were serious and everyone around them was treating that statement like it was a good thing. I think I died a little inside in that moment. I didn't know people could wear their bias on their sleeves like that. I copied the quote to get the wording correct and for future reference, like posting it here.
I play both PC and console, both are just equally delusional. You buy a console for a specific reason. I used to game on PC and build my own rigs, but what many PC gamers overlook is the main advantage of consoles: you can just turn them on, play for 15-45 minutes, and relax on the bed or couch without worrying about optimizations, compatibility issues, game-breaking updates, or background apps interfering. Most of the time on PC, I found myself more focused on nitpicking game performance-obsessing over FPS and squeezing out maximum detail from my rig-than actually enjoying the games. I ended up spending more time and money on hardware than on the games I wanted to play. When you're tired from work, busy, or not having enough time, you don't have to deal with any of that hassle on a console.
I rarely have those issues unless I used specialized most or software. With normal games I don't have these issues. Also obsessing over framerate is more of a you issue (no offense) than a PC issue. I check my fps on a new game: It's good? Enjoy game. It's not good? Check monitor settings (which takes 10 seconds9 - my pc can handle games pretty well.
I get you, i have a really nice setup that on paper outperforms everything else in my house that i just dont touch. Because its so much not even easier but, like i dont even know i cant describe why. But its just better to just press the power button on my steam deck or playstation and get to gaming without sitting there thinking about specs and minmaxing my peeformance. Its totally illogical i know but it really does just feel more comfortable for whatever reason
i never really care about those when using pc tho and more relaxing using pc than console since i can switch between games, web browsing or many more activity using just my pc. console limited in that aspect and it kinda waste of money for me. the only good thing about console is probably excluvity, even that i dont really interested in their exclusive (the last exclusive im interested is bloodborne). most of ps excluve i like is ps2-ps3 titles that im able to run through emulator on my pc, making even more reason to not buy console.
"Streaming looks like garbage compared to physical disc!" YES you are correct sir!! 4k blu ray is so superior and yet it is being phased out just like streaming audio vs CD or vinyl.
It's called you will rent everything not own anything and, be happy. That's the new elitist motto for plebs. Look it up comes from the World Economic Forum a bunch of billionaires communists.
Taking out the disc is hilarious. Sony make disc drives themselves, and sell them to third parties and always have. The cost to them is minimal. We should also note they are a major film studio and should have a vested interest in selling their own 4K blu rays which are wildly expensive still so have a huge profit margin. They should advertise their blu-rays on playstation because those pseudo-gamers have no sense of self control or budgeting, and would happily buy them which would be great for all of us because prices could drop and great for Sony because they'd make more money. I really wish streaming 4K just let you download the film and did that by default so you could have true 4K. Most of tech tube doesn't seem to get that removing the disc drive is a huge slap in the face for their customers because it's got nothing to do with the pathetic selection of games you can use the thing to flail at because you don't have mouse and keyboard like a serious human being, it's all about the film collection.

Lol that is mostly pc... now that digital foundry played on ps5 pro.. their story changed. They now think the GPU is relevant to a 4070ti. And they acknowledged they still don't have the full specs. And they did say they ran on base mode.. So you have an outdated video running off of old specs and speculation.. All the complaints came from a UA-cam video running at 1080p. But did not think to run the Playstation download on 4k at full 4k specs.
1080p should have been the minimum base input resolution required for upscaling and developers should have been forced to follow that as a baseline. No matter how good their new upscaler is, 864p is way too low as sufficient input data when blowing it up to 4K on a big TV. Maybe if it was a handheld with lower output resolution.
@sapphyrus yeah I'm also seriously wanting to see that lol and I say that as someone who played release cyberpunk on ps4, shit looked like a mobile game
I agree with that, so many games out there having the recommended specs not actually perform at a decent level unless it's upscaled from low resolution which makes it look horrible.
720 can look fine with dlss it's when they go lower than that it starts to become a mess but fsr is not even in the same ballpark so you are probably right there
If we are talking about 4K screens, then, yes, 100% true. But in case of 1440p something like 850p still looks decent in many games. Even path traced Cyberpunk looks fine with DLSS set to 60% (~860p) - significantly better then at Balanced preset (836p). Balanced is noisier and more shimmery.
Many truths told in this video. Many people think they are playing at 4k 60 fps.. But they are not.. There is no frame counter, they don't know the resolution and graphics settings. Would this be an advantage? xD

The thing is that most console owners couldn't care less about knowing anything about the system they are using. They simply expect to buy a console, buy a game and be able to play it. And I wish, that in some instances, PC users would be more like this. Comparing consoles and a PC is impossible, but calling the gamers dellusional is simply offensive. Because, I own both a gaming PC (Ryzen 7950X/RX7900GRE/64Gb) and a PS5, and have owned gaming PCs since 1996 (I gamed before that on PCs, but I would start the term "gaming PC" around 1996, with the first 3D accelerator cards) and consoles since 1990. And I could just as easily turn your argument on it's head. Aren't PC gamers completely delusional? We go and spend thousands and thousands of dollars on complicated hardware, spend hundreds and hundreds of hours setting up OSs, updates, apps, games, controllers (apart from the hardware side of building the PC itself) only to, ultimately, get the same gaming experience a console gamer gets with a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the time? Because you can't honestly tell me that playing a game in 1280x720 is fundamentally different from playing it at 3840x2160 with details maxed out. The bottom line has to be: to each his own. Nobody is delusional, because we individually use what we prefer and see fit to use. The game market is at it's current miserable state, exactly because people focus on the presentation of games and don't focus on having games that are fun to play. So in that way, you are a bit delusional.
Yea, for me what works is to own a midrange gaming PC for PC exclusives and games that work best on mouse+kb, and a PS5 for everything else. I'm not ignorant to PC and Console hardware, I just prefer the simplicity of a console to spend my leisure time with. Nothing more nothing less
Its even worse than 4k 60- I know console people who think every game runs at 4k 120 (because the console is marketed as that) and with RT. Even when I explain that most games don't have RT, they say things like "maybe not on PC" or "no, it has RT"
Sony has made remarks that a significant portion of PlayStation gamers choose "Performance Mode" over the 30 FPS "Quality Mode", indicating that they do not simply accept "30 FPS". These remarks are somewhere in the PlayStation 5 Pro console release media. The situation might be worse if they chose a PC over a console, and which requires a lot more fiddling with settings and knowledge about hardware selection. 60 FPS is preferable, 30 FPS is the minimum acceptable. Generally the sacrifice of 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS is preferred if the graphical bump is bigger than the difference between the PS5 Performance Mode and the PS5 Pro.
@@Dempig Some do prefer 4k resolutions. The consoles are not providing that consistently with their upscaling from 540p and what not. I've noticed that whenever a company has a performance uplift of lets say 45%. The company probably got that percentage in one specific game in one specific area. Console fanboys have to desperately cling to only comparing to full new PC builds because they can't find used PS5s as easily (nearly impossible at the start of a generation), let alone upgrade a PS4 like you can with an older PC. If you already have that KB/M, case, PSU, cooler and storage that PC rebuild quickly gets cheaper than a new console, or notably more powerful for the same costs. And while no one wants to openly admit it and use the P word that alone is the final nail in the console coffin. I still spend way too much money on games and won't hesitate to buy them for multiplayer, but that's the best way to demo games when it's so rare that developers release demos anymore. PC builder here. It's not the user's job to test things out. We might like tinkering with settings, but the majority don't. If the game doesn't work well, why should they tolerate the nonsense. If everyone had this mentality maybe Nvidia will put a stable driver for once.
I feel like the same can be said for PC players too. I've seen some people compare the RX 6600 to the PS5's GPU (which is roughly equivalent to an RTX 2070 Super or RX 6700). I built a $800 ish PC last year (rx 7600, i5-12400f), and while it performs well, there are some games that run smoother and more consistently on the PS5. Compared to my PC, I’ve experienced fewer driver timeouts, stutters, and frame time spikes. The amount of troubleshooting involved in diagnosing issues like driver timeouts, frame drops, stutters on a game-checking FPS, tweaking settings and having to go look for optimized settings is honestly just really frustrating ... compared to simply sitting on the couch and playing on the PS5, is a big difference. PS5 games are just way better optimized than pc sadly, one example being forbidden west performing better and using higher quality textures on the performance mode meanwhile i cant get a locked 60 fps experience on 1440p using upscaling with dynamic res. PS5 outputs its performance mode to 1800p with a locked 60fps... I dont even pay for ps plus too.

Yup cuz it may surprise you but companies prioritize the console versions, and the api software to hardware that is on the actual silicon itself is proprietary and are available to these developers for rendering games. It’s way harder to optimize these same sort of features for pc users because of the insane variety of hardware software combinations that they don’t have to worry about for each respective console version. Your pc is built to take advantage of everything a pc can do, you can’t specialize your pc to the same extent as a gaming console.

When our favorite server became toxic af, I decided to try and re-create it on my own. I've never come back out of that rabbit hole and almost every game that can be modded will be after a vanilla playthrough. I'm at the point now where I'm playing Fallout 4 with the Lost World pack which contains around 300 different mods. One thing that many people don't consider when doing console vs PC, is that it is never an either or situation. People are not choosing between owning a console or a PC. Instead it is going to always be owning a PC, and possibly owning a console in addition. With that in mind, it is better to consider what would happen if someone invests the cost of a gaming console into the cost of a non-gaming PC that they would have gotten anyway. From that standpoint, a console becomes the worst possible value.
Actually, the CPU inside PS5 isn't an older Zen architecture compared to Ryzen 5 3600, the 3600 is Zen 2 and so are the console CPUs. They're basically using an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G downclocked which is a mobile variant/cut-down 3700X. Cut-down in terms of L3 cache, clocks... There's also a 4800S desktop kit which is basically a mATX board with 16GB of GDDR6 memory and a pre-installed Xbox Series X APU with the integrated GPU disabled, for use as a desktop machine. The CPU is fully functional. Digital Foundry did a review of that, not too long ago.
I’m a ps5 gamer, honestly been trying to save for a PC ever since looking into PC videos. Longevity is so much better with PC whereas on console we’re always limited to what Sony have planned next.
You're not missing anything. TBH you get more on console, as us PC fools wait longer, get poor versions, and pay way more. Yes there's positives, but these videos need to be taken for what they are... clicks
@@ChamaUFC300 The version of GTA VI you’ll get on consoles will be disappointing, just like the one you played on Xbox 360 and PS3 with GTA V. After all, you console "players" are half blind. You won’t notice any difference.
There are advantages to both. PC the games are generally cheaper and go on sale more often. PS5 is more user friendly and typically just works without any troubleshooting. Graphics can be way better on PC but you also spend way more. PS5 Pro is honestly not a terrible deal even if it should still be cheaper.
@@luce3 I can clearly see the difference even at 4k. Its still upscaling, and still much worse than native. My point is that its NOT native resolution, being better than other upscaling dosnt mean its not upscaling.
Regarding the cost/value comparison pf the PS5 Pro to the base model (and keep in mind I'm going based on the American prices, since that's the market I'm in), one thing worth mentioning is that there are other improvements beyond just increased graphical capabilities. You're also getting double the internal storage space (2TB up from 1TB) as well as WiFi 7 capabilities. The extra storage space alone is probably worth about $100, going by the current prices of comparable SSDs.
@daneil Owen Aren’t pc gamers doing the same thing with DLSS rendering games at 1080p upscaled to 4k to get more performance especially if you don’t have a high end rig which most pc gamers don’t have and native resolutions are irrelevant nowadays with things like fsr2 , DLSS, XESS , PSSR what’s important is not quantity of pixels but the quality of the rendering image on your screen
PS5 Pro -$700 Vertical stand-$30 External Disc Drive-$100 Ps plus -$80 minimum for a year Yeah when you factor all that that’s over $900, which is more than enough to make a solid modern pc. Also for the “you’re forgetting windows!” A key can be bought for less than $15 and you can technically install windows for free, just have to deal with a slightly annoying watermark at the bottom right of your screen. My biggest gripe is those defending this when it’s merely a 2tb upgrade, “Ai-magic” and no significant changes to the cpu for more. Make it make sense
but at the same time you don't need any of that, is just forcing the extra premium price for a pc, i have both am not paying ps plus cause have not interesting games and y just play overwatch, not extra vertical stand, not external disc drive, digital one, you can also say that you need a custom liquid cooling solution in a PC but that would be a lie in almost every case
No one has cd player in thier pc ... like tahts only if u really need it I own ps5 and have 1 game on disc I got all my game digital since ps4 . And who cares about the stand u don't actualy need it unless u planning to be vertical.. such b.s shit and most games don't need ps plus . So I dubnow hy eveyone count that stuff in . Ur pc will never be as cheap as ps5 but if u wnat spend more money pc sky the limt .
There's another way to get windows for free without a watermark. I wouldn't recommend searching for it though as I don't want someone getting a virus or something lol.
Hey Daniel, the GPU in the PS5 Pro has the same compute units as a 7800M, the 7800M will be in the same ballpark performance of something like a 6800-6800XT but with better raytracing performance and on a newer node. So for a fair analysis you might as well use that as the equivalent over the 6800.
While "true", I can't help but reflect on the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck is technically a "PC" by that statement. However, the Steam Deck is a console, and I don't think it can be argued otherwise.
Well it can be argued. You can freely swich os to it and do what ever you do with pc. Even to use as only pc. I would really like to see how you explain why you even think it would be a console? Must have been some strong mushrooms that led to such brainstorm lol.
@@ixximixxi And gamers get the best technologies on market as well. Just compare RT performance of amd and nvidia in any game. I use rx 580 btw, in budget segment radeons are not that bad
From a former 20+year long console gamer that finally wised up...yeah, definitely! Wasn't until the PS4 that I even took one apart to clean it; believing that you couldn't take it apart. Most everyone I know who gamed too had never even thought to take apart theirs, nor even what's actually inside. Now that I know just how grossly bad consoles are, and how good PC's are, I'll never own console again. Most console gamers don't wanna admit how lackluster consoles are.
You're paying a lot for "pretty electronics" on PC. I curse the day glass doors for PCs were invented. It just adds cost. I've built my own PCs since the mid 90s, and back then stuff looked just as "bad" as what you see inside a console. Because it's the exact same technologies. The print on your motherboard, the little shields, the LEDs, the VRM heat sinks that look all pretty, and the plastic box around your I/O panel.... they all add cost and none of them make your PC go faster, last longer or be more stable. So, however rude it is to say, you didn't wise up. You got duped "by a push-up bra". But for the OTHER reasons to prefer a PC over a console.. no argument. When you're not gaming it's a PC! It can do everything. Wanna produce music? Go ahead. Wanna make models for you 3D printer? Check! Wanna learn software development? Wanna run different operating systems on the hardware? Wanna run legacy operating systems in VMs for backwards compatibility? Wanna emulate every other platform worth the mention? Wanna hack into Pentagon? Wanna pirate the shit out of everything?... Well, a PC is a PC is a PC and there can be no two ways about it. But the pretty looking internals is just "the PCMR tax" and that's the hill I'll die on! :P
@@andersjjensen 🤣 "got duped"...??? "It's all the same"? Uh yeah, not even remotely close bud. I've a few games both on PS4 pro and my PC and the version on PC runs and looks infinitely better than even this magical PS5 Pro couldn't dream of! And mine is only a mid-range build. I'm running actual 4k-native in ultra settings and getting 116-120fps; only limited cause I need a actual gaming TV. Mine's only 4k-120 sadly. And only 50" too. I want a 60" 4k-144 minimum. I'll 100 bucks saying that not even the PS7 or PS8 will be capable of that level of performance yet. Not unless they're gonna cost the same as a mid-range PC and be about 2x larger than now. Performance wise, consoles are extremely limited due their tiny size and locked performance...which has been almost close to a laptop's performance, but with inconsistent resolution most namely. At the price point of the 5 Pro, that's a used PC or gaming laptop of equal to to fair better performance. The 2nd statement, we're in full argument of... But "paying alot for pretty electronics" is an asinine statement! If you built PCs, you'd know that was stupid.
@@EldenLord00 It's not the case that's the problem. It's that you can only get motherboards and graphics cards that are designed with glass sides in mind. And that is where the added cost comes from. I have a full size ATX air flow focused case in a case hangar under my desk so I don't care if it looks pretty or not. This one happened to only be available with a glass door (which costs more than a sheet of Chinesium) but I would vastly had preferred it without. The only AM5 motherboard that had the features I wanted looks like it's designed by a 15 year old with a raging tech-boner. So much plastic crap and print that doesn't do anything but add cost. My GPU is not overly gamer-vomit (Sapphire Pulse) since I always undervolt and power limit significantly for quieter operation, but if I had wanted a high performance model all the options are slathered in RGB and other nonsense. The cable kit for the PSU was covered in "fish net stockings" that does nothing. At least I could find a somewhat normal looking memory kit in the speed and timings that I wanted, but strictly speaking, that elaborate heat sink design could just as well have been a flat slab of alloy instead of this neatly painted casting.
Really thought that more people would be inclined to build PCs after the price reveal of the PS5 pro, but after seeing some of the response to some videos on the matter, I think the main problem is the same, how overwhelming is for some people to get into PC with all the options available, and the fear to build an bad PC.
Because you spend the same price and if you’re building one for the first time good fucking luck spending multiple hours trouble shooting and learning how to put it together. and that’s hours after researching the correct hardware, you know what happens when you buy the wrong type of motherboard. but peopl don’t think about the hours and hours of time they have already spent figuring this shit out and are like UGH WHY DONT YOU WANT TO TEAR YOUR HAIR OUT TO PLAY VIDEOGAMES. Because they like the GAMES they don’t care about learning how to build it. And that’s not a bad fucking thing either. A 700 dollar pc isn’t gonna be 4k60 either
As much as I hate prebuilts, getting one is as simple and as plug'n'play as a console. I feel like if you really care about gaming and not just getting the next shiny shitty game released by sony, PC is just the way to go with all the extra options (old games, indies, god bless emulators).
ps5 user here, thank you for clarifying this to the rest of the community. I also have owned pcs for multiple years, and the argument of telling these people who have never experienced 120 fps on an actual 4K display, not upscaled the true difference is literally and metaphorically impossible, they just have never seen anything like that before (in a display) and every time you bring up a talking point about the real differences they just get angry instead of listening, it really is a mindset problem and not an experience problem but this isn't the vid for that. I feel that they just take microsoft or sony's word instead of actually doing research and looking into the facts, they look at that box and see "8K gaming" and just fucking believe it, even in movies, shows and content like that are not even close to that stage just yet, rn we need to first get to around 6K maybe take a smaller step into 5K which i believe is possible right now but not mainstream at all so probably not fully recognized as a resolution yet.
"plug in and play" mentality is kinda weird. even an 8 year old can build a PC these days with minimum effort because almost everything just fits. its not like trying to figure out linux and spending HOURS trying to get things to work. if there is no problem, PC takes like 30 minutes to put together. one might spend research buying the parts.. but its no different than buying a car or a house, you gotta do SOME research. im sure these individuals have done research for playstation versus xbox.
would you prefer to assemble your appliances, or just plug them in and have them work? Some people prefer to just drive their car, and not have to work on it, strange people aren't they?
@@taylorhickman84 A house is a PC case.. and everything in your house is a PC component. from your fridge to your car to your TV to your PS5. you'd do some kinda research on each component. you'd do research on how difficult it is to assemble the appliance, how reliable they are, power usage, costs between stores.

I think cuz consoles arent top specs compared to pc's on the day of realease, theyre just decent specs and value for money for the day they are released. And everything moves so fast these days that a system that is only decent on day of release quickly becomes dated in say 4 years
I completely agree! Whether console or PC, we are all somewhat delusional. I don't think you can be human without being a little delusional. We just have to be aware of it and address our ignorance rationally when it is exposed.
The circle jerking of Owens and the comments here, jeez. Not beating the PC cringe lord stereotypes allegations. I may have missed it in your video but another important factor going into the console versus PC battle is whether or not you have the skills to actually build your own PC. It will obviously cost you more to buy a gaming PC versus building one, and that might further validate your argument on cost as a concern.
The problem is calling anything native 4k today is BS. Unless you have a 4090 which is more than twice the cost of PS5 pro, you're not gonna get AAA games at 4k native. With that being said, it's the quality of nvidia's upscaler that makes their case much better. That's what the pssr is trying to address, but we'll still have to wait how it performs. In the end it's still up to you of 700$ is worth the price of those upgrade and you really can't get 700$ pc that is equal to the ps5 pro. You could get a 700$ pc "upgrade" and you'll get even better performance. Unless you already have some kind of build of a pc and are thinking of building one someday, PS5 pro isn't for you.
My main PC has an RX 7800 XT in it, considerably less powerful than the 4090, and I run all my games at native 4K if all I want is better than 60fps. I’m not even using Windows, so I’m also dealing with syscall translation overheads and still getting 60+ at native 4K in AAA titles. I only upscale if I want to push 120+ in AAA games. Forbidden West? Native 4K60+ at high settings. Hogwarts Legacy? Native 4K60+ on Ultra settings, no upscaling needed. The PS5 couldn’t do that with comparable settings, for example. Hell, my spare PC has an RTX 3070 in it and I can still get 4K60 on my tv if I lower the settings to better match console graphical fidelity. The main consideration is that with a PC, you _can_ lower the settings to attain a target resolution and frame rate. You can’t do that on console.
Consoles are NOT compatible with shooters like COD, BF, Apex,... If they were, then game designers wouldn't have to provide them with aim assist. Consoles are just for casual players.
The formfactor is not compatible with a mouse. It would probably sent me to the chiropractor if I tried that at my coffee table. Doesn't change the fact that I use a PS controller on my PC for playing several single player titles.
Great video! I just got a pc this year. Definitely can say PC detailed setting completely change the game entirely. Ray tracing is incredible. I'm a student of life and I'm not going to let pc settings discourage me from learning IMO. Now for Online I stick with Xbox for my bros. PC FTW. Thank you for taking the time for this comparison and sharing digital foundation info. I learned a lot.
The PC community gets is misrepresented by the things we tend to pay attention to. There is always a ton of hype around the halo products and what they can do. This was a reminder of how good a lot of the hardware is out there. After the price reveal, I was able to price out several systems that would be actually great gaming PCs under $1000. If you are just getting the console and not anything else, $700 for the PC is a reach, it can be done though. If you are willing to bargain hunt and go used on the GPU you'd be amazed. If you go for the stand, the disc-drive, and a year of PS plus. You are in the range where it isn't difficult to make a solid PC, and by the time PS6 comes out, you will be in a position for make a couple upgrades to run that over especially if that will be near $700. I think the end point of the video hits the nail on the head. Those customers most likely don't even care about this anyway, they just do. I'm still not sure who the PS5 Pro is targeted at though.

Isn’t that the gamer motto ? lol
Irony is that Reddit is one of the most biased places on the internet and does just that.
Bruther if youre obsessing over details on games and thats taking away from your experience that feels like a you problem.

@@andersjjensenAre you deaf?

@@denhawkenWhat the hell are you even talking about…
1080p should have been the minimum base input resolution required for upscaling and developers should have been forced to follow that as a baseline.

As both a PC/console owner I feel validated, I own a higher end PC than yours and I love the convenience of consoles mate, the amount of days I just come home from work and just kick back. I spend more time on my PS5 😅 than my PC

@@ZackSNetwork People with a $1000 pcs aren't also playing games at their native res and will need FSR/DLSS/XESS for those demanding games. I mean look at his gpu no offence to him but dude paid 800 for his entire pc and is still struggling to run games SMOOTHLY and mind you his he's got 8gb of vram so allot of games optimized on the ps5 are gonna take advantage of its 12GB usable frame buffer so games will obviously look allot better. The crazy part is he built his pc last year and got a 7600 and i5 12400 under 800 in his build which I'm not gonna lie is a pretty decent build if you look back at the prices but man that's how messed the pc market is.

About ps5pro.... so playstation set precedent with their ps4pro being priced at the original MSRP, and for that i think "yeah ok, not too shabby" but to have to purchase an entire console at cost for just a gpu upgrade, the value proposition is disappearing fast. If you never bought a ps5, hell yeah, rock on. If you did, now you gotta sell that at a huge loss and purchase the whole system again with a bigger hd and better gpu. It is basically an ewaste nightmare too, regardless of price.

One of the things I think I've grown to love most about the PC space is the modding community. It took a few years to try it out at all, but once I started playing on community servers in DayZ, running mods became a requirement. You only have to run like 240 of them depending on whether you want the game to work like STALKER or Metro 2033. YT videos have been a huge help in getting started as well.
People need to understand that we who watch and understand this kind of content are the minority of the minority.
Not even a 4080 is outputting most modern games at 4k natively at high frame rates. I use DLSS with max settings just to get 120hz with PVP games.
This is easily your best title in a while lmao. Good video

Regarding the cost/value comparison pf the PS5 Pro to the base model (and keep in mind I'm going based on the American prices, since that's the market I'm in), one thing worth mentioning is that there are other improvements beyond just increased graphical capabilities.

Btw you are completely right about the CPU, the PS5 and Im guessing the pro reserve 2 cores of the cpu to handle background tasks and the system, so 6 cores(12 threads) are available for actual gaming, and considering that a 3600 and a ryzen 7 3700/x have literally identical gaming performance on pc, I agree that the best match is a ryzen 5 3600(especially that you can oc it with 2 clicks)
im glad you addressed yes there are native 4k games and yes some are 4k60. For as much as console owners might not understand performance metrics there are double that count of pc gamers pushing the not capable of native 4k and not capable still of 60fps or more.
console gamers dont give a shit about hardware specs.. they just buy and play games.. thats the reality.. PC nerds love to compare everything.. "Oh but I have a PS5, oh but PC is better, oh better build a PC, oh they are not running native 4k" its getting repetitive. I was a console player way back PS4 days and guess what? I dont even know what the fuck is FPS.
I get you me and my friend are the same but the difference is I'm going to pc! Reason I want customization, but I'm not going to be like, "PC better blah blah!"
@@Jinkyuu1999 true, you can do a lot of things in PC, but comparing it to console makes no sense, because the main purpose of console is gaming and nothing else. no technical whatsoever. just plug it and play. explaining stuff to a console gamer is like a chef explaining to a PC enthusiast what recipe and how to cook their meal of the day.
Console gamers are comparing the ps5 pro to pc, so wtf are you talking about? They have compared the consoles to pc since the ps4 and xbox one came out, they believe the marketing bs way too hard.
@@ryuaga lol since when did console gamers starts comparing? can you do video editing in console? dude those are PC gamers that owns console. since ps4? lol i was a console gamer during ps4 era. i can assure you console people dont give a fuck about pc or any hardware news. they barely even know what hardware is inside the console.
@bisayatechtips True, remember when the one x and ps4 pro!? The majority of people on console stick with base ps4 or slim! Most console players don't care about framerates, software, hardware etc.
Alot of console players are happy with 30fps in vsync and don't even know it.
That's true because they are not focusing on the frame rate.
If I focus on how often the movie is chopped up I will find it very annoying.
I would say PC gamers are more likely to count pixels and frame rate while console gamers only care if a game is fun. This is what makes Nintendo so successful.
"console players are happy with 30fps"
Sony's themselves admitted that 3/4 choose performance mode during the ps5pro reveal ... that aint a minority
@@smidlee7747oh my god mate behave yourself. Console gamers are ignorant and arrogant and think they compare with pcs . If they just shut up the pc gamers wouldn't even inform them how shit their consoles are. Also Nintendo is so popular because it's children who own them
@@smidlee7747 True, but 60 fps is just so much better. Once you know, you can't go back
@@SquidBow I agree 60 fps is much smoother but our visual cortex doesn't automatically lose it's ability to smooth out 30 fps just because 60 fps is better. I remember having a lot of fun in the past gaming on PSone and PS2 running 30 fps at 480i on a CRT TV.
It's the same with movies cut up is a butch of little pieces that if I focus on how much the movie is chopped up I find it very annoying. Yet when I'm "into" a movie I'm no longer focusing on how often the camera changes as my visual cortex will try to make the movie make sense in a 3-D environment.
I still have the ability to enjoy games running 30-45 fps on the Switch or Steam Deck on the go. I simply don't focus on the frame rate.
It's the same with OLED vs LCD. Of course the OLED looks better but I still do a lot of gaming on my laptop with lcd screens and TV. Even the cheap TV and monitors look good compared to the past. When I'm into a movie or game I'm really not paying attention of how fruity the colors are.
even 4090 is not a 4k 60 it's struggles with ff16 and other games like star wars outlaws
You can easily get 4k 60fps in those games if you just lower some settings. Maximum settings aren't necessary.
@@TruTrae in this case I prefer to turn on dlss quality on 4K (1440p internal ) it is better than to lower the settings
horrible examples of games by studios that do 0 optimisations. Pc port of gta6 will show what a 4090 is. Rockstar are usually one of the best at optimising their crap.
@@SD-vp5vo That's not strictly true - the same studio that did Outlaws did Avatar which is extremely well optimised and runs very well with some pretty advanced tech working with great scalability.
Yeah no wonder they struggle those games are like the most underbaked unoptimised garbage ever, stop consuming triple A garbage.
Sorry but a PC is going to cost far more than a PS5 Pro. Building with quality parts the PC would be 1000+ easily.
far more? no,ps5pro is 800euro here(850$)in croatia +disk, stand and ssd for ps5 will cost around 1000$,u need lets say 200$ more to build better pc than ps5pro but than u dont need to spend anything for years,at last 5...how much cost 5years of ps5 ubscription ?its around 400$, u see over time pc is probably cheaper option or about the same at the end
@ yeah, the ps plus subscription certainly raises the price significantly
Great video as always Daniel but i highly encourage you to change your video titles into something more moderate/in-ine with their content. I know how youtube algorithm makes you work but it feels like these titles are on the verge of being clickbait or something, your final thoughts on this video are precious and, unfortunately, obscured by its title
I don’t think anyone really cares if the PS5 pro runs native 4K. Upscaling tech looks very close now. Most PCs won’t hit native 4K 60 in demanding games either!
@bfhandsomeface409 people think that it's real native 4k on consoles tho because all they hear and see is "4K". I think the biggest problem of consoles now is that they focus to much on TVs, 1440p and unlocked frames is simply the best balance, the games should have a "gaming monitor mode"
No PC player. Is playing on 4k most PC player are playing fsr on . This PC clowns thinking every PC player has 4090 .
@@ixximixxi The average resolution on PC is still 1080p lol
@@bfhandsomeface409 cleen imgae is the resolution not important . if you use fsr oder pssr . wait and see the results after ps5 pro is out . talking about patch in development . 2 months before release is crazy .
@@bfhandsomeface409 the reason for most people are playing at 1080p is probably because there is a large base of people playing CSGO. If their is high population of people playing fps then you would want a lower resolution to have that competitive edge to get a higher framerate.
Focusing on the most delusional statements from people of a cohort, and then making that the stance of the cohort as a whole, is akin to me taking the kid from the Verge PC Build video, and saying he's an example of all PC builders and PC gaming enthusiasts.
I don't understand the "cope" when it comes to having a defensive standpoint for a consumer product. No different than say, political views, "fanboys" make brand loyalism their entire personality.
I don't think they are delusional. They just don't care about this stuff as much as pc gamers. It does not matter really. just play and move on.
I’ve built several PCs. I’m old and lazy and busy with work and two kids. I got tired of messing with everything on PC.
It’s absolutely more powerful. But I don’t care anymore. I just want to hit the button and I want it to work extremely easily every time.
It’s setup on my desk with a monitor and it works great. Consoles are great and PCs are great. You just have to pick the one that fits your needs best.
Consoles are like a iq tax
Still better than people buying "Core i7 GAMING PC!!!!" online for like $700 with an i7 4770 and GTX1050Ti or even worse. If you don't want to spend a lot of time keeping up with the tech news and don't want to get scammed the consoles are a reliable option.
Since I built a 4090/78X3D system my eyeballs wont let me go back to console.
yeah will only get a game on ps5 if i want to own or if it has cartoony graphics like jrpgs
as an electronic engineer, and university teacher , i find lot of pc gamers that are as delusional as console fanboys... people gets so emotional they tend to do not use brain, is a typical behaviour nowadays... i find people saying for example amd gpus are very bad without even trying them... or people saying that apple iphones are much better than androids... is about branding... nvidia fanboys, amd fanboys, intel fanboys, ps fanboys apple fanboys... there are even people that says earth is flat... we are in the era of AI and people behave like in medieval times...so please those pc people that says console guys are idiots first try to understand how a denoiser works in RT and if you do then give lessons to others about technology...
fair enough I was unfortunate enough to start my pc building journey earlier this year with a 7900GRE and I wasn't happy with the performance I've since moved to a 4080S I haven't tried intel but it's not as plug and play as a amd from what I've seen online but like with many aspects of different things I personally have no favorites I just want a good gaming performance if intel blows it out of the park with their 15th gen then I might look in their direction same with amd and their gpus but as I stand right now the 7800X3D and 4080S offer what I'm looking for in the future that may change and I like the competition of companies to push each other forward
yeah man, I try to explain to these brick walls that new for new, PC is more expensive than console initially, but these morons get so emotional, start calling me a liar and explain to me how they can get a motherboard deal, wait for sales, buy used etc... But you can get bundle deals, sales and buy used consoles. Or the classic "My 4080 beats the PS5". Lol it better.
@@dumb_bunny5594 genuinely asking what type of games and what resolution are you playing? i build a new pc this year too with a GRE and a 3440x1440p monitor and im pretty happy with the performance.
@stevenostrowski6552 i tried a few different games from call of duty, dead space 2, dead space remake, harold halibut on gamepass I tried 4k just for lols and then went down to 1440p I tried all the way from low to max just to range the card and this may not be the case anymore but when I got the gpu it was just released in America so around late February early March I had microstutter no matter what i did with the thing no matter what settings or resolution it even showed up in the frametime graph I went online amd wouldn't you know it others had the same issue I'm sure it got ironed out and so it soured my taste and I went to nvidia swapped it for a 4070 super for $40 cheaper and now I'm on a 4080 super and it has been nothing but plug and play from that point
@@dumb_bunny5594 i have a 7900 and no stutters at all, normally stutters come from a power supply with not enough power or an old cpu , or just the gpu was wrong, i need it because i use 3 monitors, and i had problems with nvidia with the third monitor , so the opposite than you, that is the good thing at at the same time the bad thing about pc, in console you almost never have HW and SW problems...
A lot of streaming services cap their resolution on PC streaming to like 720 or 1080 to prevent people from pirating the content at high quality. in order to fully do 4k streaming on these services on PC, you need to use edge, have a certain GPU and or use their streaming apps in the Microsoft store I believe. It's stupid
I may have missed it in your video but another important factor going into the console versus PC battle is whether or not you have the skills to actually build your own PC. It will obviously cost you more to buy a gaming PC versus building one, and that might further validate your argument on cost as a concern.
Please buy PS5 pro and review the actual graphic quality.
Brother this applies no matter what the console is. This is how consoles work.
Sure, but he could compare these platforms and let us know the holy truth.
@ruslanmulyk8601 right but... he can't. Its not out yet.
That's one of the reasons I like PUBG, no aim assist
Console controllers could adopt Flick Stick which is faster than M+KB but gamers themselves are going to take 10 years to accept that change.
Great video! I just got a pc this year. Definitely can say PC detailed setting completely change the game entirely. Ray tracing is incredible. I have series x and it runs tremendous on 4k oled but the pc definitely overtakes console. I'm a campaign player and I want the absolute best graphics during my gaming sessions cuz life is short and why not?
