Hey Jared! Would like to get the same cymbal setup you use in your videos for my church.. They sound amazing! In this video your notes state u are using the a 22" custom light ride. In another it stated u were using a 22" custom crash. Would u mind clarifying? Are they the same or two different cymbals? Are u happy with this setup.for worship? Thanks in advance. Love ur videos!!!!!!
Hey man! What’s up?! Happy to help. Ok - the 22” custom cymbal is a LIGHT RIDE. The largest size they make the custom series crashes is 20”. I own the 20” crash as well, so it’s possible you might have seen both! I’d highly recommend calling the folks over at Heartbeat when you place your order. They are super helpful and will make sure you pick the correct cymbals for your church. They also have cymbal packs for churches at their website “heartbeat worship.” Personally, I’d recommend getting a full set of the Epic series!
Hey Jared! After dozens of soundclips I've narrowed it down to the Epic and Jazz series cymbals from Heartbeat. Company is on break right now and waiting on response. Would u pick the Epic over jazz series or some kind of mix between them. The Epics seem to have some bright/metallic overtones that I'm not crazy about. Hard to tell from sound files though. Any thoughts? It's a lot of money on the line and would appreciate your input. Keep those videos coming. I get a lot of ideas from your interpretations. Many blessings!!!! -Patrick
Hey Patrick! Ok, these are good questions. Here’s a few thoughts: the Jazz crashes and hi-hats are pretty soft; what I mean is: they have a “ceiling” so to speak of how loud they can get. The Jazz ride is excellent. I’ve realized that I personally prefer to have a cymbal that slightly “louder” or with a higher “ceiling” that I can get more volume out of it if I want to. It also depends on your situation - in our sanctuary, sometimes the Jazz crashes leave me wanting - I hit them hard and still wish they had more pop - but at my home studio, the Jazz series sound amazing. Bottom line: I would go with the Epic series - they are GREAT all around cymbals and they sound very musical - I know you mentioned having a “metallic” sound; think of it more as “ping” - you actually want some of that to help the cymbals cut through the mix. So, I would say to go with the epic series. My one disclaimer would be that I only have played the epic ride; I haven’t had a chance to play epic crashes or hi hats. But I feel confident to say that epic series would be the best choice. I think you will be extremely pleased with them!
Your drums sounds great!
Thank you so much, man! I’m still learning how to mix drums and try to get it slightly better each time.
AWESOME cover! This was great!
Thanks a lot!
