I worked on this movie. It was the most intense experience of my career (to date). I worked in the hair department. I did Helen's hair (and I still do, 32 years later) watching this video of the making of Twister brings back so many memories of filming the movie, it was intense and an experience that is forever in my heart, RIP Bill, he was such a nice person, always engaging, never excluding and a wicked sense of humor... also Philip Seymour Hoffman, another great person and great actor gone.
This movie is important to show how important warning systems are in preparing in advance for a big Tornado. The 90s were particularly devastating especially because the internet was not fast enough with no smartphones. It seemed there were more big tornados then too.
I just realized remember it's looks like really real life really real it's looks like documenty biography book of Life that it's looks very badly bad 😞😔😢😮😮
This one of my favorite movies to watch in the spring and summer time. I'll always remember riding the twister in Universal Studios in Orlando. One of my favorite childhood memories. Great video and movie 👍👍
I live in Australia (not far from Movie World) and always thought there should be a twister ride, I never knew we there actually was one! What was it like, what did it go?
@@countryheart5521years before New releases review history books documentary about biography book of Life in magazine for real life returns new movie sounds like story life look back to look like it was put in July 2 twisters coming soon as being back

Next year I’ll be going to school to learn all about weather and tornados I can’t wait to get started with my Journey =) Thank you Twister and the real deals that inspire me to want this for my life .
tornado Erik Rasmussen refers 2 is an F4 which struck Dimmit, Texas and ripped over 350 feet off asphalt off Texas State Highway 86 and threw it twice as far into a nearby farm field. Though several hundred cars were tossed and destroyed and one house got totally flattened , there were no injuries nor deaths reported and it dissipated within 10 minutes.
Jus incredible and very unique how they made the movie back in 95'. Is my all-time #1 favorite classic 90's throwback film❤🤠🌪📽 Great cast and crew! Will never be forgotten.
This movie is one I will always hold close to me forever. It did inspire me to become what I am now. I have an original 2 version DVD disk of the movie & that is behind glass in a frame because I do not want to even scratch it. I use a newer version on disk when I do watch it now. Even though it's not 100% realistic, I love it to this day. Grew up with this legendary movie. It's one I can relate to being an advanced SKYWARN storm chaser myself. This is special footage. Like VERY special. This stuff right here can only be seen on an original 2 disk version copy of the film with the behind the scenes footage. You will not find this anywhere else. 26 years of Twister now ya'll, & now a sequel "TWISTERS" is being made off Bill Paxton's original idea after all this time. RIP Bill Paxton "The Extreme" & Philip Seymour Hoffman. Wish they were here to see the new film come to life.
when you compare the old digital effects to Real Tornado footage Chasers take in 4K , it still dam realistic esp the Movments. And reality can be even more scarier ( el reno 2013 , Canton 2017)
If anyone asks my favorite movie I actually have an answer, Twister! I saw it multiple times in theaters at the age of 4 (I liked weather even as a kid) and I still have my Original tape that I watched to death.
Tornadoes are cool. Also, Station Wagons are cool. I have seen The Twister movie many times (I have it on DVD), and the one scene I remember the most is where there is the EF4 Tornado near the Auto-shop, and Preachers 1983 Ford Country Squire Wagon gets thrown through the roof of the garage and into Rabbit’s 1982 Ford F150 Truck. Both Vehicles were destroyed, which is a shame because both were great vehicles. Especially the Fire Country Squire. Being born in 2006, I never got to be in a Station Wagon, but ever sense I learned of the name of the Model of Preachers car, the Ford Country Squire, I have found great interest in station wagons. I am currently, as of the posting of this comment, into the Ford Pinto Squire, the 2 door Wagon.
I’m surprise there’s no mention of Tim Samaras, who has passed away since this film. He is the actual guy who really put those instruments into the tornado for the first time
The movie was released way before Tim Samaras put the first probe into the Tornado. Twister is from 1996 and Tim’s first probe was tested I think sometime in 2003 or 2004
They could've easily used blue/green screen, fake sets, fake locations, fake props and the most famous actor at the time, but no. This movie had very little to no blue/green screen, all the sets are real and felt real. All the locations are real, the tornadoes and sky are CGI but the debris is mostly real, and not fake plastic but real debris and garbage. The Actors were chosen not because on how famous they are but how good of acting they do, the acting doesn't feel rushed or forced. Little and short scenes for like 5 to 15 seconds took weeks to months to make because they cared about every scene and character For me personally Twister isn't a tornado movie, but it's actually a Storm Chaser Movie! Rip Bill
This is good quality - look like it came direct from an EPK- probably from a Umatic tape- sent to tv stations- so the local anchor could dub over the reports to the local news?
This movie inspired guys like Reed Timmer, Dave Dahl, and other meteorologists to chase tornadoes. The Science museum of MN had a special exhibit depicting 1) to show what it's like to be in a tornado 2) to be prepared for what to do when one hits. Do I know what it's like?? I survived 10 Hurricanes . The real deal. The National weather service asks for volunteers to report weather. I attended their class and have reported things to them. In the class they showed damage from Moore OK, and others.
I just can’t imagine a roadster movie that can top Bill and Helen with such a great cast, great fx and sound, and a decent, compelling story line to move the characters along. I hate how all these big budget films today seem to think all you need for sci fi or disaster films is to drop a load of cash on the fx and the masses will come. What really motivates people is not only the fx, but also believable characters who they cannot with and who they can connect with. The only thing that I think has come close since twister is Dante’s Peak. At least as far as the script and plot.
I live a hour half from eldora iowa and bout few miles out on y ave is the place they shot the ef5 scene and the house is still there has been painted too. Looks nice
If you ever watched storm chasers with reed timmer from the discovery channel he was trying to do the same thing like in the movie twister with an experimental Weather probe inside the twister itself Just a little fun fact about that This led the way for reed timmer as a weather reporter Bill paxton was a natural born storm chaser from Texas Shalom dove 🕊️ of peace ☮️
Because critics are just young and stupid to see how awesome this movie They don't care about how much work this movie took to make and they actually record real tornadoes during the making of the movie
_Twister_ was a huge hit in theaters! The second highest-grossing film of 1996, after _Independence Day._ In fact, both _Twister_ and _ID4_ were dismissed by critics as just mindless summer blockbusters, but they accomplished what they set out to do, which was to thrill/entertain audiences worldwide.
I wouldn't say the movie is perfect. But it's a lot better I think than most disaster movies. Mostly the characters. You know the personality of basically every character and they feel alive. Could have been better of course. But it stands out compared to other disaster movie characters.
The awesomeness of practical effects will never be beaten by CGI.
wonderful movie, Still love to watch it. But RIP to Bill Paxton, who passed away. He was a great actor.
I could watch this movie again and again and still be surprised in every part of the movie that's how awesome it is
Is on USA
Literally me everytime I watch it
ONG
I’ve loved it since a kid watch it all the time
Twister was Written by Michael Crichton (The Author of Jurassic Park)
My absolute favorite movie of all time, hands down.
This is how you make a storm movie
Hard work
Excellent physics
Great design
And awesome cast
I love Twister. I watched this movie a lot on VHS when I was a kid.

Wow good quality and nice and clarity
You cant make this movie again these days. This style of cg and vfx just works too well for the movies vintage.
This is cool, but I still want Twister on 4K bluray.

1969
These scenes honestly looked like a lot of fun to make
From the making of Twister capped from film's Blu-Ray released by Virgin Produced.
