Sum 41
The Venomous Pinks! All girl punk band!
Gaby Kaos oh hell yeah thanks for the tip!!
N D13 Fuck yes. We live SUM
Mannequin Pussy and Grumpster are bands that put out phenomenal albums late 2019 that I've been listening to this whole year
EDIT: those albums are Patience by Mannequin Pussy and Underwhelmed by Grumpster and are great 2020 catharsis
Punk's not dead, it's just underground... Well down below the depths of youtube, soundcloud, and spotify
This comment is the most accurate
Where? I'd like to know
Punks Alive and well in 2020 watch this band do it ua-cam.com/video/WcxyORmjM4s/v-deo.html
not dead
Fuck yeah its not dead
I'm still stuck in the 90s punk scene. Videos like this are exactly what I need!
Josh Yaks me too Dude. I never thought I'd make it to 43.
There was punk in the Nineties?
Jake yep.
@@Jenna..desu4565 There’s some good pop punk bands, pop punk shouldn’t even be a word to be honest. The ramones are almost labeled as pop punk 😂
iam in the 80s when it was true and so fab still listen to the uk subs dead kennedys the damned clash gbh and so on ye all know the best of the best pop punk down hill shit lol wish there was so much of the old stuff around now it all sound so watered down to me now i want a bang with my music still get it with old stuff but not now sad to say where the fuck has it gone
Idles are legitimately the best band in the world right now. They make me want to cry tears of joy constantly.
That the only somewhat good band I can find from now, I wish the sounds like the germs and black flag was still around, it was better then cause everyone had their own sound, idles do to that’s why they have my respect
Big ups for making a spotify playlist! This is just what I needed. Thanks!
Great list thanks AP, I'm going through these bands on spotify now.
We have a Spotify link in the description! All of the songs are ridiculously good. Thanks so much for the kindness.
@@altpress Thanks I found it, my favourite that I discovered from this is IDLES, thank you, another recommendation I have is Amyl and the sniffers.
Damn i've been listening to the chats for years now. About time they get recognised
super cool. thanks for the update, you miss things as you age
Pears. PEARS. LISTEN TO PEARS. LISTEN, TO PEARS.
Definitely needs PEARS!
PEARS are so goddamn good. Ever listen to Night Birds?
OAAAAAATH
Okay?!
I don't think punk rock will ever die. I still love all the 80s, 90s, and early 2000 punk bands. They never seem to get old.
This is a well put video AP! I highly appreciate the effort to delve into the philosophy and vision of each band. Very happy it's not another "big riffs cool chops squeal geetar" generic spew list. Happy to see that you still keep true to what the punk movement stands for: not being an asshole and breaking away from shitty norms, accepting and celebrating the ostracised. The advocations. Love this so much. Best "top x" video I've ever seen in a while.
Keep this up! Give your writer a raise haahahaha
Thank you so much!! Punk rock is extremely important-always has been and always will be. This was a joy to make and it’s really excellent to hear that you enjoyed it.
Anyone we missed?
Thank you for this playlist. Cobra Skulls, Bad Cop, Bad Cop and Jeff Rosenstock. 🤙🏽
This list needs more knuckle Puck, The Story So Far, Nofx and Against Me
We recently featured Knuckle Puck in a video where Kevin and Nick talk guitar and Fat Mike picked the 30 best Fat Wreck albums as well did you get a chance to see those?
@Dane Gonzalez bruh you sound like an elitist man. Enjoy the music who the fuck cares. As long as punk lives it's all good
@Dane Gonzalez knuckle puck feels kinda like an All American Rejects rip off band
@Dane Gonzalez well you've stated your opinion, I can respect that. And yeah I support you on your point. Ruining music genres is sure a huge problem. I feel Bombpops are kinda cringe. I'm not sexist, I still enjoy a lotta punk bands with woman as members for eg. skillet,The distillers,Paramore, Evanescence etc. Pop punk is still kickin. But I'd like to see punk rock, hardcore punk genres to be revived again
@Dane Gonzalez and lol nofx just literally posted a new song again
Just here to make(damn) sure that AP didn't decide to poison the list with Yungblud and they didn't! Good job AP!
Definitely a fan of girls in synthesis now. Needed some new jams for work. Thanks!!
It’s a crime that you missed both Pup and Parquet Courts.
if G.L.O.S.S. hadn't broke up they probably would've been on this list damn
You missed the Bombpops. My favorite album of this year.
YES!!!!
Meh kinda trendy sounding imo...
Yeah man there pretty cool I found out about them a few days ago
Larry Limbs is one of my favorites of all time. Sincere Engineer, also apart of the chicago punk scene, is keeping punk on the up and up. i’m eager for her to release new stuff.
Larry Limbs. HAHA! What a band. What a new record. We did a history of the Lawrence Arms video a few years ago. Did you get a chance to see it?
Oklahoma City where I'm from has a massive punk scene and it's so amazing and I hope one of our bands can make it up on one of these lists one day
Red City Radio!
Yep norman here okc has an amazing punk scene
Violent Affair!
The wheelz!
Dude i live in oklahoma :D
Check out Streetlight Manifesto, they're simply amazing
Cannot believe Pup isn't on this list.
Truly an amazing band. We adore PUP and had the opportunity to tell their oral history in a video last year. Did you get a chance to see it?
PUP and Pkew Pkew Pkew
I freaking love Sharptooth. Riot Grrrl music in general is great! Can I Get A Hell No is my anthem.
Here to show some love for my homies Days n Daze. Also you threw Jeff Rosenstock in there. Shit, whoever wrote this I wanna embrace ya from 6 feet apart.
IDLES is such a good band, from my hometown. Love them.
The fact that the guys in Get Dead dosed Fat Mike with acid and he kept them on Fat Wreck and decided to keep working with them is a testament to how good of a band they are. The Chats are also awesome. The future of punk is snotty and Australian.
Hold up what happened
Hold up what happened
@@OnyxXThePunch one time, when Fat Mike was recording them, they were finished for the day, and the Get Dead guys wanted to party. Mike said he couldn't because he had to go to his daughter's piano recital. They talked him into "one more beer" which they dosed with acid and MDMA. Everyone told Mike to drop them from Fat Wreck, but he couldn't find it in his heart to do it, due to how ballsy it was. He said that was the kind of band he wanted on his label, and they're still going strong. Sam from Get Dead and Mike are good buddies and do a podcast together now.
@@colina1330 I know it was a harmless prank but I don't like that only because of Mike's reason for not partying.
It was ballsy tho.
@@OnyxXThePunch I mean, he's still friends with them, so I guess he got over it pretty quickly. He still made it to the recital. He's talked about it in numerous interviews, but he's never said which specific member did it. He probably doesn't even know. Drugging people is pretty fucked up.
Looks like there are a lot of bands I need to check out. I thought The Dirty Nil would make the list though. God is dead, long live the Nil
Screeching Weasel just released an album this year 2020 entitled Some Freaks of Atavism. Awesome melodic pop punk album. Also, the Bombpops' Death in venice beach.
Dummy Head Torpedo's "Dead Set on Malevolence" is the best record of 2020 to date.
Gotta admit, regardless of where I stand on these kind of lists, this specific list I discovered a bunch a new amazing bands (for me)
Idles is amazing, btw.
The Punk scene on the west coast of Florida is killing it right now! Other Galaxies and All She Wrote are two stand outs
Some solid bands on that list. But Fat Mike is right, the new Get Dead album is something special! I have played it through many times since its release- So good!!
I was hooked ever since I heard "Disruption." Mike, Sam from Get Dead and a few other people have a project together now called Codefendants. They have a few singles out, and are hopefully releasing a record soon. It's good shit.
how can you say these bands are keeping punk rock alive if they broke up over 5 years ago?
Greetings from Philippines, "Vive Le Punkrock!" :-)
Jeff Rosenstock is a fucking legend, everything he touches turns to gold. If anyone likes ska here y’all should listen to the entire BtMI discography right away
Love IDLES at number 1, but would’ve loved to have seen some DIY artists like Prince Daddy and the Hyena or Oso Oso
OSO OSO IS SOOOOO GOOOOOD!! You’re right! Good call!
If these are the people keeping punk alive, then it's really dead.
best comment so far.
Solid list, but really missed masked intruder on it!
MASKED INTRUDER ARE ONE IF THE BEST PUNK BANDS IN THE WORLD (allegedly)
@@altpress Told you so ;) Cheers from Sweden!
Niklas Henriksson Hello from Ohio! Thanks for watching! Who else should we feature?
@@altpress teenage bottlerocket ! :)
ivem gm HELL YES. We love TBR!!!!
These bands ain’t bad but I will say the bands that are local are the ones who are keeping it alive.
In major agreement with IDLES being at the top. May i include PUP, Dirty Nil, Deh-Yey, The Dartz, Coathangers, and Cuffs
I wouldnt even put them at the top or even put them in this category. Saw them in 2019. Fuckin amazing live but not necessarily a punk band. listen to some interviews which their influences may surprise you.
Hey, what's that tune starting in 6:57
“In our minds, and in our hearts, we feel that hardcore music should stay outta big business and stay in the streets, where it belongs!” - Warzone
That’s exactly where punk/hardcore is, it’s back in the streets and the people there are the ones who keep the scene alive. Puro Pinche Punk Rock!
What's your top 5 punk rock bands???
Im here cause I saw the chats on the cover my favorite punk banf
Amyl and the Sniffers.
I like them but im more of a chats person
Get☠️Dead is Fire🔥
The new record from GET DEAD is a must buy!!!!!!
There's Destroy Boys and Doll Skin too. They aren't that famous, but I love both and they are female/female led.
Thank you for presenting bands without presenting the music of the bands!
We have a Spotify link in the description. If you stream the music on Spotify, the artists directly profit. We hope you stream them all!
Punks not dead
You just stopped listening
exactly.
"Somewhere between Bukowski and Bad Religion." Hahaha, solid. I always call the Lawrence Arms the worst great band I've ever heard.
I was hoping Red City Radio and/or Off With Their Heads would be mentioned, but there are some great bands on this list. I've been super stoked on DnD, BC/BC are always a good time, and Bad Religion have been my favorite band since Suffer.
What about Rancid?
What about Viagra Boys? The brought a brand new original version of punk rock in these musically boring hazy years. It's a serious lack.
fidlar and destructo disk slap check them out
In my opinion Una Bandita Indi de La Plata is the best punk. I think bc they're from my country but it's so good and underrated. They're like a 70s punk band but in 2020 and from Argentina.
The fact that kids these day would rather listen to mumble rap then punk is beyond me
One very honorouble mention is machine gun kelly. The guy used to do generic freestyle rap but started learning to play teh good old six string and slowly switched to punk rock, The songs are centred on love but its good to hear some good old distorted power chords and solos.... and real drums.
Cobra skulls
Spanish love songs
Days n Daze
Fake names
Sharptooth
Fontaines dc
Get dead
Creeper
Shopping
Girls n synthesis
Thouche Amore
Bad Religion
(missed it lol)
Thick
The Chats
Disq
Badcop/badcop
The Lawrence Arms
Jeff Rosenstock
Idols
And my personal No 1... Leif B
Hey you guys missed an album SVNBVRNT it's a mouthful of fence art
I'm from ocala Florida and there always has been a thriving music scene it just sucks trying to get noticed through social media and getting people to listen subscribe and just notice your art..
Amyl and the Sniffers glaringly absent
GOOD-ASS LIST, yo!
GOOD-ASS LABEL, yo!
Um, why aren't the links pinned up above!?!?
Punk? This list would make Mtv/Hot Topic proud......
NOFX and Anti-Flag !!
Disq are very underrated!!
Fat Mike is like a rash that won’t go away
What abt pup?
WTF no PUP?!?! Pears, Western Addiction, Single Mothers, Night Birds!
Night birds for sure. Love the song BTK.
T S.O.L? The Vandals? NOFX? Guttermouth? The Agnew's various projects?
You understand.
2 years late, but let's check the bands I didn't know from the list a try. I need to find "new" punk bands that I enjoy. There's only so much the classics can do for you hehe
Fight the vomit and skitzoid are pretty underrated hardcore punk bands from AZ
MXPX & RELIENT K 💜
best album from 2020, The Bombpops "Death in Venice Beach" and for me it's not really close.
Listen to The Flangipanis and Nerdlinger. Punks not dead it’s in Australia 😉
You missed B.E.T.O.E. (D-Beat Raw Punk from Venezuela)
You left off Authority Zero!!!
Get Dead was the 2020 punk record of the year without question. Only thing that came close was Suicide machines Revolution spring
Spanish love songs is amazing
Dune Rats are also quite good
what about casualties
Checkout Belclaire
A new band from Dallas, definitely worth a listen
Portland punk still running strong.
Missed Green Day!
Hilarious
Mainstream punk is too poppy for my tastes nowadays, probably great for others but im not a big fan of pop punk, but thats what sells i guess
This list begs for PUP !
I really do think the chats are the most genuine punk band going ! The lyrics and asthetic has never been seen not all but a lot of new punk bands are just regurgitating other people's experience and styles also just because you shout something doesn't actually mean your passionate about it or punk 😂
What's your top 5 punk rock bands???
Forgot Jay Parade
Don’t forget One Ton Drunk come check it out😉
Im on smoko...so I watched this
I swear if I hear another cheesy smoko joke imma shit brick
Retire already. The punk era is here.
Where’s Saturday’s headliners
The chats kick ass
Told my mom is not a phase.
Billy Talent and Rise Against
Check out "Fade Em All" punk band from Houston
Sadly I think punk is dead but maybe we can get a good revival this time
1:53 why do they all have sauce bottles¿
Check out The Murder Capital and Viagra Boys :)
there's a new Indonesian punk rock band with a comedic gimmick called Barbarian.
Actually, they've released their first single and video clip last week. Although the lyrics are in the Indonesian Language, I think you can enjoy their tune.
Here's the link of their video ua-cam.com/video/UcSM8ChViiM/v-deo.html
Where's PUP?
