I think my favorite part of this and other videos in the series is the puzzle is in the thumbnail.....hooks me every time man! As soon as I see the puzzle I can't resist watching.
this one could easily be called "the three fishermen", as you have 3 pawns in a group. A bit more work, but some of the puzzles could be moved around to match the story elements and pieces in play.
An alternative for white doing the staicase is king to h3 and take the diagonal. It will arrive first to defend the bishop as black is obligated to alternate between bishop and king moves.
Nice puzzle! I have one question: what if, at 5:18, black plays Ke1 instead of Ke2? It seems that black wins a tempo and you can no longer do the staircase pattern as white
Idk. Ke1 actually is a bad move. The reason I think it's a bad move is because once kg2 is attacking the bishop. Bishop has to move up and it's bad because king doesn't protect it so bishop is free for the taking. If you go back to ke2 after ke1 king protects the white bishop then it's free for the taking
Now i know why the third fisherman is a very good chess puzzle solver. His name is Bobby Fischerman. Bobby Fischer, who was a popular grandmaster bat in the 20th century.
Because it loses the bishop after kg2. Black actually can't defend the bishop there because either he has to move the bishop and lose either the bishop or the pawn, and if he plays ke2 now, white can just take the bishop.
Good puzzle. The problem is the premise. I know way too many old ladies living alone around me that if they asked me to solve a "puzzle" for food, I'd turn and run. Great Granny Puzzle.....shivers me timbers.
"take a bishop ... use it sideways" repurposed to: "take a pawn, use it sideways" 1:15 "this is the key ... if white could capture that" smoke and mirrors, an old magician's trick. the left hand distracts, the right hand makes the real move
'2:15 you ignore the try Be3 +' Kxe3, then the black king just goes for the white pawns and takes them all. That is, at best, a draw. '5:15 ... Ke1 is also possible' No, not really. After white Kg2, black can't move their bishop to anywhere without either losing it or their pawn.
I was initially getting bad Hansel and Gretel vibes from this puzzle.... Thankfully no fishermen got eaten - but man was that a long stairway up to the old ladies kitchen!
"I wanted to give the English a Mythology of their own." "We created a world for people to roleplay their own characters together with friends." "*********. *** ******* ******** ****** ******** ***** *******!" "Chess puzzles on UA-cam."
At 6:15, couldn't black sacrifice their bishop by moving Kb4, thereby threatening the two light colored pawns? If white takes then they are too slow to stop black's king, and if they don't then black still gained a move

This is the first puzzle with a name that I have that I have been able to solve on my own. Thank you!!! I love your videos! :)
Do you have a link to the video you were referring to at 4:24?
Got it again!! Thanks for the puzzle serie, I enjoy it a lot!
that was interesting. all the other puzzles were solved in order to proceed, but only this one and the cowboy one came with an actual reward

What a fascinating puzzle, i never would've solved that!
Your puzzles are always interestig and amazing... Where do you find them? Is there any book with this types of puzzles?
Nice puzzle Nelson.. I appreciate your hard work.. I'm your regular viewer.. Watched all the videos.. All the best

Nice, I got every move right except with that climbing sequence I didn't know that king should go up. Thanks for the puzzle
This story is amazing! It is very entertaining and challenging!❤😰❤

You stole thiss
Not that it really matters, but you can save the pawn 7:36. Bb6:Kxb6, Kc4:Ka5, Kb3
And then it's a stalemate because black's king is in front of the pawn.
I love these puzzles!
It reminded me of the first in this series puzzle, which was much harder. Maybe there is a conection between the old woman and the villigar.
first off: villigar?
second: not the first in the series
how do you get triple pawns one the A file????????
They come from B and C files.
@@giovannigino3675 how'd the c file get there?????
easy. he showed u how
I love the interesting story you made with chess
Nice puzzle!
I have one question: what if, at 5:18, black plays Ke1 instead of Ke2? It seems that black wins a tempo and you can no longer do the staircase pattern as white
We simply play Kg2 and black can't defend the bishop and its a win for us
Idk. Ke1 actually is a bad move. The reason I think it's a bad move is because once kg2 is attacking the bishop. @@hardikkapoor743 Yes you can defend by going King E2 after King E1.
@@MaskOfCinder But the bishop would be attacked twice, allowing Bxf2

the puzzle is so good that I forgot it had a story lol

Plot twist: they were fed a stockfish and they all gained 1000 elo

Using tactics to convert the positional advantage
Bc7, then Bb6
5:14 Nelson didn’t go over King to E1. That also defends to the Bishop without leaving the diagonal.
King E2 is needed to keep up with the staircase maneuver thingamajig.

Can I get this game on Apple store or Google play
I think CV should have included analysis of Kc3 instead of Kc4 . . .
what the f I predicted all the moves of both black and white and I'm only 400 rated, is that why I could defeat a 1600 in tournaments?
omg i rly rly like this man!! xD

@@thetaomegatheta a) That's why it's a "try". at the level of this video, that should be mentioned.

What about Black Bishop at b4 in 6:63. It's a drow.
After Bxa7, white gets to promote without opposition, and black loses.

Doesn't change much, and white can take the bishop with their king in that situation anyway.
He forgot to deselect the fishermen at the beginning and just had a big Photoshop box 😂
