The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle's narative devices (with the body swapping to solve the mystery to "get out of jail") could be turned into a cool timed mystery solving game. A colourful cartoon style should suit it, with some low key dark humour inserted here and there.
Hearing you guys mention how ACOTAR is mostly just daily life. It could maybe work as a life sim stat raiser, similar to say Princess Maker or Long Live the Queen.
If I'm being perfectly honest, you could probably turn the ACOTAR series into some kind of Zelda-like. The plot structure of the second book already feels like a macguffin puzzle, so all you would need to do is actually make it a complex macguffin puzzle.
I think a dragon age and barbie horse adventure (low stakes, puzzle, mostly just changing your outfit) mash up game would be perfect and serve the demographic well. For Acotar
you need to write the characters that much bette that they are different characters thou, but yep, the bioware companion thing of choices would be greatt, and you can date lucien.
Witcher! Hands down The Witcher is the best book series adapted to a game and there was no movie done before the game, at least not in the Western world. Although... technically you could say it was book fanfic adapted into a game because it continues the canon events but the game series (especially The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt) is so beloved by the fans that it's basically become canon and it made the author write a little epilogue in his latest book that lowkey confirms and accepts what the game developers have done.
But you know that Poland is part of the Western world? And there was the film and the serial for Witcher produced in Poland before the game was made. Also looking back to it the polish productions were more true to the books then the Netflix adaptation
@InternetIsWild Accusing someone of doing something and proving it are two different things. That lawsuit never amounted to anything because there was nothing substantial behind it and the similarities between the characters were superficial. Wattpad for men? What a strange description that doesn't stop me from enjoying the books and games.
@@mentis8100 Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker and that was a poor choice of words but I didn't mean it as a slight to Polish people. What I meant was that the Polish movie wasn't internationally known when the game got popular, that's all. And yes, as far as I heard it's definitely better done than the Netflix "adaptation" (putting it in air quotes due to the second season going hardcore off the rails).
@InternetIsWild Comparison photos? What are you on about? You mean between fan art of the two characters? That's wild to base your accusation on images that aren't official, there barely is any description of Geralt in the books aside from his hair color, being pale and gaunt with cat eyes and an ugly/menacing smile. You can draw a million variations of faces based on that. And a character is more than his appearance - hence why the lawsuit was dismissed. The fact that you call it soft core porn and liken it to Acotar tells me you haven't read it. But yes, you're right, it's not classic literature and it's still widely considered one of the best adaptations into a game.
The way I FLUNG myself into the nearest chair and clicked the *second* I saw this title!! Oh my god, I can't WAIT to dig into this and hear your thoughts. You guys are brilliant! 😊❤❤
7:26 ironically a mobile game came out and its basically one of those space shooters combined with a bullet hell. You got your normal bullets and then you get your stronger dragon fire but since Violet is sooo special as the MC its probably the reverse
Mistborn could maybe make an interesting game. You would have to summarize a lot of the political components to avoid large blocks of text, but the way that Vin travels around the city sounds like it could be a fun mechanic to play with, and the magic system lends really well to resource management. The plot also allows for stealth-missions in between combat. You could probably expand a lot on Kelsier's inciting of a house war to justify adding more of those moment to the game.
Yes, please do another one some time, it was so interesting to listen to! :) Since I spied Annihilation on the document: I do think Area X would lend itself well to some sort of survival horror game. I'd personally love to see a Bloodborne-feeling, Soulslike game set in the fictional city of New Crobuzon (from China Miéville's Perdido Street Station).
This is such a hilariously chaotic episode from intro to end 🤣 I have no experience with games so this was actually really interesting to listen to. I always enjoy medium/form exploration on this podcast! One of my other favorite such episode was also a Will - Katie one, "A Guest in the House" by Emily Carrol. Great discussion.
Can’t believe you guys didn’t mention Discworld the video game, which came out well before any screen adaptations of Pratchett’s work. It’s an old-school point and click game essentially telling the story of Guards Guards but with Rincewind as the main character trying to solve the mystery surrounding the dragon and the cult, and essentially save Ankh Morpork. Terry Pratchett even collaborated with the game makers, so its tone is very authentic to Discworld and contains loads of easter eggs for other books.
There was a game i played, very simple, where you go out adventuring for materials to make items to sell in your shop. I can imagine that working for Legends and Lattes, where you start small, level up and get more exotic ingredients for more special brews and pastries. There would also be a decorative element like Animal Crossing and a relationship element with your customers to get tips on new locations for more recipes and ingredients. It would be a totally cozy game. 😊 Also like a "collect everything" game.
21 minutes in, were you referencing Drakengard? I LOVE those games! How DARE you suggest it be a blueprint for Fourth Wing! It brings me joy that Katie knows what Drakengard is though.
1. Katie's confusing JRPGs with dating sims. JRPGs are running around with an oversized sword to kill a god, dating sims are the "you have a lot of romance options and have to manage how they feel about you". 2. So you're using Final Fantasy as a genre (and I have Feelings about it but I'll stay on the topic), so here's a suggestion for you: Fire Emblem as a genre. It's a turn-based unit-based game series, and one of its main appeal are leveling up relationships with the characters and it changes their endings (i.e. if a girl and a guy reach high rank, they might get married in the endgame). I think it's a good fit. You'd have all these faeries as units, going out fighting at first the curse forces later revealed to be Amarantha's, then facing the Hyburn armies and battling for the fate of Prythian while at the same time arranging for your favourites to end up together.
Ther are also more than enough rpgs with action , but also romance as big option, like the bioware and baldurs gate. heavy romance options in an action or plot driven roleplaygame.
Also! People seemed very confused. That song he sang so very expertly was Cruel Angel's Thesis, the theme for Neon Genesis Evangelion. One-Winged Angel was Sephiroth's theme from Final Fantasy 7. But I can definitely understand the confusion. Very similar titles.
ACATAR could be a really horny romance heavy RPG, with the characters being way wy lewss creepy written. and tamlin goes on his own if , and you get to , make it very romanvce choice heavy, and make a lucien route. And the sisters , she is in contact with the sisters or thinks more about them.
No interesting magic in Fourth Wing?!? Heresy! What about the magically refilled fountain pens?!? 🤣That's top-notch magic right there!
For comedy 😂
This is such a good point.

🤣 "Press 'X' to thrust"! Omfg, I'm yowling!

This was truly such an intriguing comment to have pop up during the first few seconds of the video 😂 I am excited
Well now I'm just thinking of DA crossover with ACATOR and Fenris would definitely be crushing hearts

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a text based computer game in the 80s.
Okay, it was Cruel Angel's Thesis with a touch of Mission Impossible.

dream daddy felt way more like a dad sim/visual novel to me and much less like a dating sim. just my two cents on that 😂

Ooo! For the ACOTAR rpg game, could the Suriel be an acquirable, playable character?

There are dating sims with (usually heavily scripted encounter) combat interspersed throughout.
Ther are also more than enough rpgs with action , but also romance as big option, like the bioware and baldurs gate. heavy romance options in an action or plot driven roleplaygame.
I would love to see a Drakengard/Fourth Wing crossover.
To be perfectly honest, I've felt as if it was a playthrough of an otome game, by Sarah J. Maas. She's just chosen Rhysand for her main love interest.
Is it video gaming suffering enough with Dragon Age the Veilguard do we need this to?
Mistborn would be a really great game
For Fourth Wing, they literally just described Fire Emblem Three Houses
Also! People seemed very confused. That song he sang so very expertly was Cruel Angel's Thesis, the theme for Neon Genesis Evangelion. One-Winged Angel was Sephiroth's theme from Final Fantasy 7. But I can definitely understand the confusion. Very similar titles.
I want to play a Scorpio Races game now.....
19:55 "daddy" fight

Dream Daddy is so good
Shin gami tensei?
Harlan Ellison was the GOAT. Sassy little man.
I would love to play a game based on Dark Lord of Derkholm:):)
Will is humming terrible :)
