- I walk through East Boston for the first time during the Holiday Season. The neighborhood hosts the location of Boston Logan International Airport. It is very diverse, with many Hispanic businesses and a developing waterfront area.

East Boston is a mysterious borough that most know nothing about. Thank you for showing us this neighborhood.
I'm glad I took a visit to East Boston
I lived in East Boston from 1987 to 2003, and the changes are incredible. I couldn't figure out where you started. I lived at 284 Meridian for 7 years....
I lIVED THERE TOO!! I lived in the first floor, my cousins on the second and my aunt on the third. what a coincidence
@@giselleh3024 Wow!! I lived on the second floor, and my friends were on the top floor. The owner of the tool shop lived on the first floor. For many years, it was a wonderful place to live ...when you lived in the building what business was on the ground floor. I loved living next to the library, near the market, and all the good stores in the area...wonderful memories
@@kimmoses6397 my mom actually owned the store downstairs from 2009-2016 it was a catholic library. it was called "libreria catholica el divino niño"
East Boston was always a big Hispanic community, for my lifetime, as well as a small section that was very Italian. I'm 35. They started gentrifying eastie in 2016. None of those condos on the water were there before then. It's still very Hispanic, but not like it was. The neighboring cities of Chelsea, Everett, revere, and Lynn are very Hispanic too. That whole area is one of the Hispanic hubs in massachusetts. Before 2016, you pretty much would see only Hispanic people in eastie. There are parts of Chelsea and Lynn like that, but eastie became a bit more mixed in the last 5 years.
This is my hometown!!! I’m very homesick so watching this was so nice
17:35 what an awesome moment! It must make you feel really good when people recognize you.
It was really special when he showed me the waterfront and told me the history of the area
@@ActionKid Awesome man. Noting wrong with a little local knowledge.
Love it!
Santarpio’s is a ONE OF A KIND pizza 🍕
It’s not only a
1.) Boston style pizza
But also a
2.) East Boston style pizza
Pretty niche 🍕
Born there in 1966! Lived on Bennington Street
I grew up here, on Benington St. and Saratoga St. in the early 90's. I went to the M.E. Bradley Elementary school
Thanks for visiting the neighborhood! Great place to live, love to see people sharing it
Would highly recommend walking through Winthrop, MA along the beaches!! Right on the other side of the airport.
Look very beautiful ❤️ place and nice walking tour
Thanks for great sharing dear friend
Greattng from MACAU
This is a part of Boston I've never been in, so it was very informative. Thanks for posting this!
Downtown Boston is also known as the Hub like the Hub in the South Bronx where several bus lines and the Central Bronx elevated that was titled as the number 8 line on the NYC subway map.
In total, just gorgeous. Very beckoning. I love the older part and the newer part by the water. Blondie's owner was charming. 🐩
I'm happy I got a chance to visit East Boston
Good stream, thanks for showing my hometown to the world!
You're welcome! It was good to be there and explore it for the first time.
@@ActionKid boston streets were made for horse and buggie
Esse lugar é lindo
Ha! "La Gran Manzana" es igual al "The Big Apple" 🍎
Loving the Boston vids so much! Especially since it's my dream place to live so this is just making me fall in love with it even more.
I'm so happy you've been enjoying the Boston videos
Dream bigger 😂 its expensive and everything closes at 9
@@MoistHoleSenpai What’s a con for most is a pro for someone else, lol.
I lived in Somerville in the 70s ...had 2 roommates. Could easily walk to Harvard Square and subway. It's fun seeing the old neighborhoods. You are getting around AK.
Nice walk through a little known part of my hometown. I haven't been on the East Boston waterfront since they redeveloped it. It was shown in the movie "Blown Away"
Nice looking neighborhood , nice buildings , stores ,shops and restaurants , nice christmas tree at 7:01😎Overall very enjoyable walk 🙂Thank you for sharing A K 🙂👍!!!
East Boston has always been low rent and home to immigrants. Now its Spanish speaking immigrants. Before this it was Italian. There is now high price condos. Great skyline views from the waterfront
Very nice! 👏🚶
The Autumn foliage was beautiful by the way. 🍁🍂
It was gorgeous!
your boston series are the best
Wow good thing you ran into that dude with blondie you would have missed that gem the water walk must be great at night ✌️🤙
I lived in Boston for 20 years, I spent probably 4 out of 5 fridays meeting friends and having Garlic Pizza and lamb at Santarpios on Chelsea St. Been there from !933, some of the Santarpios still work there I think. And building was a bakery prior to that from 1903.
Was disappointed that mostly just the new was shown. There are still many streets of row houses that really represent the Italian area it was, and some Italians still live in them. But about 2000 it slowing turned into the Hispanic area it is today. I was hoping you would walk the streets of some of the old row houses that East Boston is know for. Most of my Italian friends lived there or in Sommerville. Tourist think the North end is the only Italian neighbor hood, most have also moved out of there after the big Dig.
Just recently, starting in 2016 really, they started gentrifying eastie pretty heavily, depending on where you're at. So some parts don't feel very Hispanic at all, or Italian for that matter. It's just a bunch of latte yoga people, in spots nobody else can afford. The worst people if you ask me. 🤣
i so enjoyed this..
Same
Thanks
Boston traffic rule: the more beatup car has the right of way
East Boston looks very nice
The French connection, so nice to see two city connection through history . It's like you never left Boston .
Very true!
It was nice to see the all local businesses and then the contrast when you showed the modern residential complexes. 22:30 Amazing views of the Downtown Boston skyline and Harborwalk. 😍 I appreciate the local viewer for showing you this area. 😎 Thank you for sharing this informative walk, AK! 🤗
It was very insightful and I'm happy I took a trip out to East Boston
Meeting the fellow that recognized you was great ! If not for him , we wouldn't have seen this great area of parks, new waterfront! Very nice area 👍
I'm very grateful he showed me around and directed me to the waterfront
Good morning action kid
Boston is a nice city
Make sure you check out Wood island another part of Eastie
All the Mexican restaurants are a big plus for me:-) The four-story vintage apartments are cute too. It's a cute place!
I love the water too:-) Did I forget to mention the vintage street lights? I love them!
mostly caribbean latinos there. much less mexicans
They have good food too:-) @@aphr0d
AK, had a fan walking with him 😂. Doesn't get any better than this.
Nice reminds me of Battery Park. Yacht City area love the sound of mi gente Hispanics.
This was an interesting video and it was done very well.
Merci pour cette promenade interessante ! Amitie
My father was murdered there in 1983. His name was Roy McDonough. I was only 5 years old then. Gary Curtis killed him. He is now out of prison after 35 years. Why? Stay safe brother ok. God bless you and your family. God bless eastie. God bless you dad. I will be back home one day
To the guy in the video your dog is so cute!!
Much more of a fan of Houston where the streets are nice and open and it's easier to see everything.
be carefull
You finally got one of those talking crosswalks that tell you what street crossing it is.
🚦🗣*Wait* *Wait* *Wait*
Not me 😂. I just jay walk & cross.
@@trustnoone3007 that’s Kenneth for you.

Recognised by a friendly local in Boston.. Fans all over the country & world.
I use to live in East Boston, the Shaws supermarket I use to work there, that whole area awful if you own a car the parking is awful there is alot of crime in the area as well.
head to south boston next
If you tell me this is somewhere in Queens or Bronx NY I would totally believe it.
Looks like Yonkers
you kept mentioning the number of spanish businesses, that’s because that neighborhood has a sizable hispanic population 😂
this guy doesn't like being acknowledged in public you can tell.
@7:55 - Not hispanic. They are Mexican food restaurants.
Mexico is a Hispanic country…
When I go to my favorite Mexican restaurant here in Denver, it's Mexican not Spanish. Sorry
Hispanic is an overall term for countries that speak spanish... a lot of those restaurants are not from the country of mexico. We don't have a lot of people from Mexico in massachusetts, like some other parts of the country. But we have a lot of people from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, columbia, El Salvador, and Venezuela.
We also have a large portion of people from Portuguese speaking countries, like Brazil, cape verde, and Portugal. They are people that would fall into different census categories, depending on who you ask, but that many people just lump into haspanic/ Latino as well.
Coming "Thnk Coffee"... gentrification.
Just know you'll be breathing all the fumes from the airport if you decide to live there.
@@iShavedYesterday can confirm probably why I was born with asthma 😭😂
Guy’s a little racist
This was an interesting video and it was done very well.
