- Time to visit Boston! the largest city in New England region famous for its seafood, history and love for sports! It's the most European looking city in my opinion. Some of its neighborhoods like Back Bay and Beacon hill look like Europe for sure. Thanks for watching!

For any music students, Boston also has among the best music scenes and colleges in the nation. It has more high-profile conservatories than even NYC, having Berklee, Boston Conservatory, and New England Conservatory, as compared to NYC's MSM and Juilliard. It has one of the most lively music scenes, with tons of live music, as well as great performance venues such as the Boston Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston POPS, etc. Headed there for my first year at Boston Conservatory and I absolutely LOVE the city.

Boston is so expensive because the demand for housing is much greater than the supply. The high demand is the result of all of the universities, hospitals and industry in Boston.

The "European" look that is attributed to Boston can be found in many of the oldest cities along the east coast of the US that date from the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC (Georgetown), Alexandria, Charleston, and New York City. Many of the cities along the east coast have preserved lovely neighborhoods with historic architecture. Boston is certainly one of them.

Also, compared to all the cities you listed Boston is not really built on a grid, with the exception of Back Bay that was a late 1800s addition. The city sort of sprawls organically, which is part of why traffic is so strange. But it lends the city and old world charm.

I moved from Brazil to Boston at the beginning of the pandemic. I love living life in Boston, I live in South End, it's the best place to live in my opinion.
I have lived in Massachusetts for many years and about two years ago I went to London. Sometimes while walking through the streets of London I would forget that I was in England and started looking for the names of the streets in Boston, because it looks like so much. I was really impressed as to how much Boston and London look alike.

It also has the top pediatric hospital (Boston Children’s Hospital) in the world, and other top notch hospitals like Tufts Medical Center (which saved my life giving me emergency brain surgery at 2 in the morning after an accident) they have a HUGE medical district.
My son went to that hospital when he was little...he was treated for Lyme disease. It is indeed a very good hospital!

Well thanks for the comments, we are now back home in the UK. Our trip was unforgettable, we were totally blown away by the experience. We saw so many wonderful sights, both in New York and Boston. The people we met were friendly and helpful and I struggled to drag my wife and daughter out of Macy’s. And Central Park is so beautiful…….. thanks again!

We visit Boston every year for several nights on our way to Maine. Your video really captures the essence of Boston and gave me some new places to put my list for this year. So well done Thank you.
I enjoyed the video, and all the highlights you mentioned. I think it would have rounded out the picture to at least mention Roxbury and Dorchester, which are often overlooked and are very interesting neighborhoods. There are many ethnic enclaves, Franklin Park, and other things well worth mentioning, which deepen the portrait of Boston in its complexity.

Boston is a fabulous city in the 🇺🇸. I wish I continue my study and live there when the right time comes.
I ended up in Boston because in 1978 I ran away from home. I first lived at the Meeting House in Charles Street (Beacon Hill) because a friend/minister saved me from the streets. That summer I slept and lived in the bell tower with two other runaways.
I found work, a rooming house and started my life here.
I’ve lived in Beacon Hill (poor people used to be able to rent cheap dumps on the back side of the hill). The South End, Kenmore, Fenway and Dorchester.
Now I’m in the West End in an old high rise. I’m right behind Mass General Hospital. The Red Line is there but across the street is the Green Line and a couple blocks away is the Orange Line.
I did purchase a parking spot under the building. It’s great to have my car available for when I need to go outside of town or bring home a lot of groceries. Heavy bags are hard to handle in the subway and on the Green Line, it’s impossible to lift my cart up the stairs into the subway.
I’ve thought about moving to other cities. Boston is my home. It’s getting a lot more diverse (a big plus). The winters can be tough. But everything I need is right here.

The Children's museum has arrived! I remember the original museum was in a residential house in Jamaica Plain part of Boston. It was a homey place with a grandma's attic, ...had some of the first computers...this was back in the 1970s!

Excellent video describing the various neighborhoods. Been living and working in Boston for over 40 years. I am a Boston Tour Guide. I would encourage my clients to watch this video if they have a chance. As a guide, it's not possible to hit all the neighborhoods. I grew up in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston and I'm disappointed it didn't get a mention especially since you spotlighted the Samuel Adams lager from their downtown tap house touristy location instead of the brewery location, which is in my beloved Jamaica Plain. Have been visiting Boston for years since I was a teen...this is the best video guide on the city I have seen, period. Last visit was just last month...and despite how neat everything else still is, a few of the T trains I rode on were literally crumbling with rust and seem virtually unchanged from my first trips in the 80s...other than that I have to say the T is efficient and the best way to get around.

Boston’s MBTA transit system (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) replaced its old blue line trains with new ones a few years back. The red, orange, and green lines are at this moment still testing the new replacement trains for each of those lines and they should be up and running within a year from now, more or less. In fact, a few red, orange, and green line trains were in revenue service a while back but were taken out of service due to glitches that have to be worked out before going back into permanent revenue service again. The green line is actually serviced by light rail trains (trolleys), though, that run both along the street at surface or call it ground level, and also below ground in subways. Which is the same for the other three lines. They also run along the surface level too. And in one or two instances the green line trains run above the street for short lengths along tracks elevated above the street, same for the other lines, here and there. In spite of its self proclaimed prosperity, intellect, and greatness, Boston has this lazy, seemingly deliberate tendency, and that in the worst and most criminal sense of the word, at least it seems to me, of neglecting itself and its infrastructure until the last hour, not to mention Boston’s seemingly traditional tendency to neglect rendering to its tax paying citizens public services due them, street repair and potholes, street lighting, street signs and other signage, and the likes. That’s why the old rust buckets. It’s more a deliberate mindset and lack of will than it is resources, know how, and capability, it seems to me. Bunch of political hacks and shysters, if you ask me! The trains were supposed to be in service two years ago, barring the state’s dickering around, if I’m not mistaken. In other words, they rode them for all they’re worth!

Debbie downer that I am, I wouldn’t argue that truth; great historical achievement and benefit for Boston and its surrounding areas. But being the Debbie downer that I am, after the politicians and other business interests got through pilfering and bilking that project, it’s ultimate price tag swoll and ballooned to billions and billions of dollars beyond and above its initial price tag. I mean, that’s to be expected and is natural in projects of that nature and magnitude, but in the Big Dig’s particular case, in addition to the more natural course of events, it was good ole’ Boston politics as usual… and was clearly highway robbery… pun intended. And you can see glaring evidence and examples of that fact when you drive through the entire length of the tunnel from the Ted Williams Tunnel (TWT) to and through the Central Artery Tunnel (CA/T). The TWT is clearly and easily the better and superior of the two, although the two combine as one tunnel. TWT was completed first, then the cutbacks in quality of materials and other noticeable things came while the CA/T was being constructed, and this as the price tag ballooned! I guess my gripe and point is, in spite of itself, Boston is a great city, no doubt, and many cities would die to change places with it, but it could easily be and deserves to be much, much, much greater than it is given its intellectual, business, economic, medical, technological, and a plethora of other resources and capital. And that’s what gets my goat about Boston. But then again, and in spite of it all, and in spite of my tendency to debbie down, there does seem to be this strange greatness about Boston that makes it almost absolutely unnecessary for her to boast about her own greatness, simply because others almost immediately recognize her greatness and acknowledge it to themselves as well as to others. I guess… Go Boston!
