- Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan engaged in a heated debate with socialist commentator Owen Jones over the cause of the Israel-Hamas war and how it could end.
The pair clashed on whether Israel has committed genocide with its incursion into Gaza as it seeks to destroy Hamas.
“The difference between Israel and Hamas is Hamas does not have the capacity to wipe out Israel,”
Mr Morgan took aim at Mr Jones for his argument that Israel could wipe Hamas off the map if they wanted to, pointing out that “they are not doing it”.
“What they are doing, and this is indisputable, they are issuing a number of warnings repeatedly to people to go south and stay out of northern Gaza and then they are pulverising it with air strikes and now they have gone in on the ground and they are waging battle with Hamas fighters, terrorists,” he said.

On this issue I agree with Owen Jones this WAR has been going on for over 75 years, Israel was born through Terror, the bombing of the King David Hotel, the hanging of Sergeants Clifford Martin and Mervin Paice, followed by the massacre of Palestinian Villages. Which is why so many fled in terror in 1948. Since 1948 there have been many aurtrosities on both sides, which started with Irgun and The Stern Gang. Ben Gurion's Book has been read by every terrorist group since 1948 in the early editions he speaks with pride about the terror they committed.
You left out the massacres of Jews by the Arab states around that time period.

Do you actually know what this war is about - at all. Do you think it would have been OK in WW2 to look at those German casualties and allow the Nazis to remain in administration. Support Israel, but I can understand the upset for Palestinians. However, just criticising the methods of Israel without a pragmatic solution will not solve anything. If pro-palestinians calling for a ceasefire have a proper solution to address Hamas regime and minimizing innocent casualties, please bring it forward because conflicts in other parts of the world not involving Israel (i.e., Armenia) would help too......

When Russia commits genocide he condemns them (even though we all know Ukraine is being used as a pawn by the US to trigger that reaction). But when Israel does it he calls it “self defense”

Key point is that Israel left Gaza entirely in 2005. The Palestinians had a state and their own territory at that time. They could have immediately disarmed, built schools, homes, businesses and a country. Instead they brought in Hamas and launched thousands, maybe tens of thousands of missiles against Israel, took hostages and committed much violence which culminated in the attacks on October 7. They are not ready for peace now and maybe ever because they are not willing to accept Israel's existence. There won't be a peace until they do.
It's worrying when someone can't condemn Hamas, just to criticise Israel. Both sides can be doing wrong.
