I disagree somewhat about what you said regarding playing machine gunner on attack. Personally I've found it quite useful for suppressing enemies inside a building to allow my squad to push in, for example, or simply keeping the defenders at bay, allowing my team to cap the point :)
In the right position they are amazing, i just find im too aggressive as a player i always want to me moving forward or being the first to assault a position and unless your in full Rambo mode a rifle is better for me :P
True, for aggressive players the grunt or pointman classes (and their equivalents) are much more useful. Keep making quality guides. I'm enjoying these videos and I've found all of them to be very helpful, my RS2 gameplay has improved quite a bit after watching them! :)
My favorite class in the game, love going to town with two 200 round belts. Firing the M60 gives me a rush, its kickass. You aren't playing MG right if you're not shooting where the enemy might be
bipod is a synonym for stand and vise versa. They both mean the same thing dude stop complaining, all he was trying to do was help and then you correct him for something that isn't proper 'military terminology' I mean he is playing a fucking video game man it doesn't matter lmao. You obviously understood what he meant by stand so why is it an issue?
Gonna join the crowd here and disagree with the video; the M60 and RPD in-game may be 'inaccurate' but are slightly more powerful than standard assault rifles and have slower rates of fire, in addition to their massive magazines. The sights on both the RPD and M60 are just easier to line up as well. They're easier weapons to use. I am *absolute* shit at RS2 and find myself becoming something of a surgeon with the machine guns. Any other class I don't average more than 8-15 kills, but as machine gunner it is hard to get fewer than 25-30.
Machine guns are AMAZING on offence ethier by staying back behind the lines and provding cover fire for youre allies or moving in and attacking in close combat were aim is not as important dont under estimate shooting from the hip
@@penguinvicker6476 yeah I got the game its really good Im a god with a knee mortar my favorite thing to do is to listen for snipers and machine guns then I get there location and drop a shell on there head
You said that a shotgun would be best for close range, there is never a time when you should take a shotgun over a grease gun or ppsh. Both can 1 shot at close range, specifically the m3
I got a 80+ kill game before with the machine gunner by sitting in rice fields and mowing down incoming enemies. A lot of my kills where also just by spraying into a forest of pushing players
Yeah if you've spawned as a machine gunner and you're in an attacking position then that's probably the best thing for you to do but we feel that when attacking an objective, constant pushing and quick firing is preferable which is why I recommended using the rifleman or pointman/scout classes for that edge in mobility
Very good guide :) I started as a beginner in RO2 last yr as an LMG gunner, but i come from a milsim background so I already knew the tactics. Just a case of building the twitch reflexes
lol recoil isn't 'gone' when you drag down. You're better off using a different automatic weapon with less recoil so you don't need to compensate as much for the recoil. I mean really, even if you drag down your mouse it's still swaying from right to left. The recoil pattern isn't just up in the air lol, to compensate efficiently you would have to move down and right to left and hard too. Plus you need to take into consideration the distance of the target and how they are moving, meaning you would have to compensate for the HARSH recoil of the gun and the bullet drop.
It's used in the light machine gun role in this game. The difference between light and heavy machineguns can be sometimes a bit confusing. It is often depending on the caliber, but it also depends on the use. A machine gun in a fixed position is sometimes considered heavy. However, the same weapon, carried by a single infantry man, is then considered a light machine gun. For example the MG3 is considered a light machine gun, but on a tripod it's a heavy one. Those classification can of course change from army to army.
This is a terrible guide. If you play passively like this, you will be a constant hinderance to your team, you will get no kills, and you will be a waste of a player. Instead, follow these instructions. The bipod is completely useless and actually hinders you by making it harder to ADS because your character will constantly be putting his gun down behind cover. Instead, fire as much as you can at the enemy until they die, this is the only way to use this class effectively. As for the Vietcong Machine Gunner? If he has the 30. cal, just use it like a rifle because its basically just a better one, while you should just spray them down with the other machine guns just like the M60. Do your team a favour and play like this, skip the larper role play crap with the deploying and using the useless bipod and stop pretending your in a movie or something, instead actually help your team.

Yeah i always enjoyed playing as a rifler even in RO2 when one missed shot meant that it was game over!
Glad that you found them helpful :D
Still, machine gunner is only a support role in an offensive. They can't push the objective as effectively as rifleman or pointman.
You're overstating the weakness of LMGs in offense. Just set up slightly behind your squad, pick a zone, and give them covering fire.

I find it much easier to flank and get in close to kill people with the bipod folded, which is the complete opposite of what this video suggests

M60 was designed for rambo-like standoffs and there's nothing wrong with running and gunning with LMG in RS2.
Best class in the game, nothing like flanking Charlie with an M60 and 200 rd belt.
cant wait to get the game
I love that australian machine gun, its basicaly l1a1 with full auto, very accurate, and you can use it as assault rifle
Yes, if only they remove the stupid tracing rounds on machine guns which gives away your position, L1A1 will always be my gun to go as Australian
You said that a shotgun would be best for close range, there is never a time when you should take a shotgun over a grease gun or ppsh. Both can 1 shot at close range, specifically the m3
Shotguns almost always a 1 shot grease gun is less reliable

Well ideally if you're a machine gunner on attack you'd be suppressing the defenders but yeah still not as ideal as defense

"C" is crouch, I thought. Man, this game has one helluva learning curve.
Crouch is usualy ctrl. Idk what games you've been playing
I mostly was suprised that pressing spirint doesnt immediately get you to standing so you can nope away from grenades
