I know all things evolve, but this session, this one on one with another accomplished artist. That's the B Strings I remember and cherish. Both artists are unplugged, unadorned and unbeatable at their craft. Thanks for posting this.
I think Billy Strings is an awesome singer I would like to go see him in concert people can be so stupid when they are drunk just play on with your music and don't worry about what people say or do
Thanks for sharing by the way!!! I saw this on Williams his Facebook, but without audio. You made my day, with your perfect position and sharing this with us The Netherlands 🇱🇺
First of all, both these guys are amazing gutarist / musicians. Doc Watson was also. Look at Billy from 3.15 to the end of song. He is watching Brian playing lead. This is gonna sound kinda crazy but it almost looks like Billy is projecting out of himself on to Brian. I don't really know how to explain it. Billy is either zoned in on Brian's playing or zonning it to Brian. I've just recently started watching Billy the past month or so. The dust in the baggie song started it for me. I watched many of Billy playing with his band and vids from years ago. I noticed Billy head moving and jaw twisting when he was playing a lead really into it. I saw that when he played with his dad in the music store and other times as well. I know people playing guitar can be into it and make funny face expression. The first time I saw myself playing on vid I noticed I did as well.im just sharing my thoughts. I noticed this a couple weeks ago and didn't know if I should say anything. I know both these guys are very talented. Just watch from 3.15 to the end . I kinda looks like Billy is projecting that to Brian. I know that may not be the case but look at it and you decide.
@@rickschucker9697 what's up your ass? Dudes not saying anything offensive or belittling towards Billy you dense piece of shite, he's saying they are playing in different keys and that's difficult to do.
Didn’t seem like anyone was making a comparative statement about ability but rather one about approach and dynamics. They are both playing in the same key (Gm). Billy is using a Dm shape with a capo on the 5th fret while Brian is using an Em shape with a capo on the 3rd fret. Both result in a G minor chord.
@@bryanjackson8604 dropping in four years later... The coolest thing is that Billy knew this and has been intent on improving his technique. Check out the Bridgestone show with Bryan 2/24/24. Both are on fire.
Ah we need a studio version of this one with these two.
Finally a video that really showcases Billy Strings' and Bryan Sutton's true ability. No effects, just raw talent. Looks like he had them whoopin too.
I wanna see the five thumbs down play this on guitar or Banjo ..... Lovely version guys 🤜🏼💚🤛🏼
Yes it is so far its my favorite version

For a "listening room" this crowd is pretty rowdy. WOOOOOOO!
This is fucking beautiful!

These boys understand the music...
Loved it
love it - so different to the Bill Monroe version
Unlike most venues you can play, most of the hooting drunk folks in this video are themselves monster players lol
The definition of smokin', I'd say.
That's some shady groove right there.
First. At something, anyway, today.
Someone put a muzzle on that woman. Don't yell during acoustic sets

Billy’s capo is on Bb and Brian is transposing from G - tricky. Brian gets lower resonance to his guitar by doing this.
guitarsword1 wow, you must be a real professional! I’m so impressed!!!! Maybe you should be up there instead of Billy???

He’s actually in A position (capo 5)... but playing in the same key... just different positions. Both playing in actual key of F it appears...

david lawlor you’re correct! It’s Gm... I thought the Dm (shape) was the minor ii... but, it’s definitely Gm. 👍🏼👊🏼
He really should have done 8th of January. Being that it WAS the 8th of January.
I was at this show and the 8th of January was the first song they played lol
2:33 what the heck kind of run is that? Only Billy can make that sound so good.
R2D2 in the background
Nice. Better if they throw the hollering drunks out. LOL
Billy is awesome but Molly Tuttle does a much better job on Shady Grove. She plays the guitar claw hammer style and she is freaking amazing!
Two great players, I think Brian's playing is a little cleaner than Billy
To be fair, Brian has a few years on Billy!
A little? I feel he is much clearer.

Great song and performance but a little more singing and less noodlin` between every verse next time.(friendly tip)
Billy will sleep good tonight knowing Dan is out here telling him where to noodle. 😂
@@thewiltedplums I am here for the noodling.
