@@thomasknapp7236 , yes. I know it’s an old song and that Doc didn’t write it. But, Doc did record one of the most famous versions, and when he performed it live he talked about his love for his wife. She was his “Shady Grove.” Since Billy alludes to Doc fairly often, I was just saying that Doc would like Billy’s version, too. I didn’t intend to give any other impression.
Shady Grove was one of the last songs my dad recommended to me before he passed. I always loved Jerry's version but this.... Billy brought tears to my eyes
@ ha….thought I was committing on “catch and release” video. The channel must of changed right as I punched the comment button. But yeah…shady is not on Highway Prayers! 😆
Im 70 yrs. Old. Bee n to alot of conerts in the 70s and every song he sings is just as good or beeter than the original a true intertainer . Hope i get a chance to see him. Don cali.
@anunripecantaloupe340 How observant of you. But, of course, Tony never EVER played a plugged in acoustic guitar, and why would him because anyone with a working pair of ears can hear that they are an abomination. BTW, why do you think Billy choses to play plugged in?
Thank you for keeping the old ways sacred. I can leave this world knowing that these traditions are in fine hands.
Doc Watson would be so proud to hear Billy play this song. Bravo, Billy and band!
This is not a doc Watson song...but Billy's version is amazing.

Lost Dog Street Band covered it very well check it out!
His guitar - sure, but to my ears, his voice gets better all the time.
I was waiting for 50 years to hear a better version than Quicksilver used to do with Jerry , It was worth the wait.
Have you not heard Doc Watson's version? It is his story and his song after all....
Excellent and beautiful brilliant cover of this song. I’m amazed at the ability of this guy Billy Strings.
What a superstar Billy is.

A fantastic moment at a great Billy show.
My ex used to play & sing this to me...won me over, then...
Isn't this a Jerry standard? Where's grisman?
WAY older than Jerry. The earliest origins are in a 17th century ballad, but the current version was first documented in 1915.
Cover RUSTED BED by songwriter Dennis Callahan
I HATE plugged in acoustic guitars! Well, there are not of course acoustic but some plastic sounding monstrosity! Billy! Have you no taste!
I think I’ll take Billy’s taste over yours
@@anunripecantaloupe340 How about Tony Rice? Has Billy got better taste than him?
@@musik102 Tony rice didn’t post the comment friend :)

@anunripecantaloupe340 Very observant of you. Now, I know why Tony didn't plug in but Billy does. But the question is...do you know?
