I had several Tonka trucks along with a couple of Buddy L and Nylint. But the Tonka’s were always my favorite. This would have been in the early 60’s. The axles on the Tonka toys always lasted longer than the others due to the construction of the axle mount. It’s always a pleasure to watch you bring back to life old forgotten toys. Many good memories resurrected. Thank you!
You probably have the greatest collection of old toys in the world that have been masterfully rebuilt. You could have your own museum them toys all together are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I wonder if anyone else would watch it if Chip would put out the Best of Sand Blasting video? That restoration turned out beautiful. And I love the shot of all the restored vehicles. The management approves of this restoration. Pretty kitty.
Thanks for all of the great work you do of the medal toys. I wish I had someone like you around when I was putting my collection of Tonka Toys together. I had around 700 pieces in the collection from 1949 though 1964. only a few missing of every one produced by Tonka Toys. The truck is a 1958 and you made it look new!!! with the powder coating they will last a lot longer then the original ones made. Thanks again for the work you do.
Внушительная коллекция старинных машин (уже даже не могу называть их игрушками 🙂)! Восхитительно! Спасибо огромное за Ваш труд, мастерство и любовь к своему делу!
Where on Earth do you find these poor things? My little boy is very worried when the videos start, but he's reassured when he sees how much you love the toys. Thanks for that.
Yay! A truck to haul all the sheepies! Hey! Tip: Use your heat gun for your shrink tubing instead of a lighter. So much easier to use. I use to work on electronics and wired PCB boards for phone company.
Your work is always exceptional with care to the smallest detail. Bravo! What I especially like is that you're the only restorer who tests for lead paint. Kudos!
Chip Channel champions another restoration and the sheep are ecstatic! The sheep were lined up for their ride to the shearers shed and even jumped the queue to get on the fully restored truck. They looked excited and Chip was pleased with the amount of wool obtained and packaged. They all posed with their new haircuts for a team photo and even Cyclop Sheep seemed to be smiling. Who knows, maybe he met a little sheep for the night. All is well in Chip Channel sheep ranch as we watch him add another amazing restoration to the table of fame. Inspector Beaker was very impressed. Well done Chip.
When I was a preteen kid I thought it was possible to restore tonkas because of their simple assembly. Rivets had me stumped at the time. It's kinda fun to see them get done. You've amassed a nice collection of restored toys. Thanks for sharing
You are amazing. It's one thing to have the tools, it's another thing to know how to use them. I love watching you restore these toys, several of which I had when I was kid.
I love every part of how you fix these toys and other items but when you sand blast the nasty off of those pieces it is satisfying for some reason. You do a really good job. And watching that gray bumper turn to chrome was really cool.
Hey chip, a tip to add shine to the wheels. Use self shine floor polish. Get a piece of wood. Drill holes to accept bolts. Thread a nut and bolt through the wheel, pour the polish in to a suitable container, then dunk the wheels in, then place the bolts with wheels attached in to the wood , covered with kitchen paper towel, then cover with a lid and allow to dry.
Hey Chip. Great restoration, as always. After a little research, there appears to be powders specifically formulated to withstand flexing post-curing. Also, surface preparation appears to be crucial including an acetone wash followed by high temperature out-gassing in the oven (approximately 20 mins. @ 400 F). Judging by your world class talents, I have no doubt you’ll master some solution shortly! Cheers, John
I grew up on a horse farm (no longer live there, moved away a LONG time ago.) These types of trucks would deliver HUGE loads of Hay and or Straw to the farm. I would have had to help unload it. I never saw THIS vintage a model show up at the farm though it would have been PRETTY AWESOME to have seen one IRL. =o) I kinda miss the farm.
We used to really work with full sized trucks like that, for the sides and back we had to haul livestock and we would take the sides and back off and leave the part by the cab to haul hay. I didn't realize they made toys like that.
Awesome as always! Suggestion: the white plastic dowel you use to bend the tabs over...if you will concave the end just a little so the round end of the tab will go up it, that will help keep the dowel from sliding off.
I always look forward to getting the notification of another of your outstanding videos! Once again, a masterpiece and an absolute joy to watch! Thank you!
I used to use an air powered rivet squeezer in the Air Force many years ago. Every time I see you use that hand crank one I wish you would get a pneumatic one.
Hey Chip, From my understanding the cracking has to do with the powder formulation. There are powders designed for bending and crimping applications. They are more flexible. As always; Sweet truck!👊
There is not enough storage in your device because storage is too full changes latest please free up space on device before communicating maybe cause may be lost
Chip Congrats again for another Master Piece of Craftsmanship. I present to You another 4Thumbs Up Award !! 😎👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟 Plus 4 Hearts for Beaker as Always 💜💜💜💜 !!! Now for your request for a idea of how to get powder coating from cracking when pounding the tabs back in place. Well Chip I believe You already found a way by the paint touch ups You do. I've never seen where You touched up the powder coating yet. However that being said I noticed it was when You were putting 2 halves of the flatbed back together when You asked any Ideas. Ok here is my idea for when you have that situation again. Powder coat the insides only of the 2 halves and assemble them and finish powder coating the 2 as 1 on the out side also if You use a suction fan turn it off briefly while powder coating the inside pieces the electricity itself will draw the paint enough to it to adhere. Also Chip You are a Genius ( don't get a swelled Head ) lol. ! look at the clearance between all the different parts and make some Kustoms applicators tips for your powder gun that can fit in to the cracks so You can pre assemble the main pieces and spray 1 time with no touch ups untill You assemble 2 different colors !! Then that is the only time for touch ups. lol. Again Chip Your a Baddass !! Don't stop !!! Meow to Beaker to. 😎👍💜
Was thinking the same thing on the chrome paint... That chrome powder coating is outstanding! Other restorer's on YT strip, sand and polish the metal, then plate it, followed by another polishing step. "Chrome" powder coating seems so much easier and it looks fantastic!

Great job on 1960 Tonka farm high stake truck restoration chip channel restoration 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Chip has the best nozzle, pressure, and media combo on all of UA-cam. The blasting is top tier!
That's because several of the other guys on YT "cheap out" and use actual "sand" in their sand blasters, which is not an effective blast media at all.
@@WHJeffBWhat method of sandblasting is Chip using ?
Awesome Handwork From Bangladesh
I'm binging your entire channel lately. Sorry, not sorry, for all the comments. I promise it's for your channel. ♥
Your collection of vehicles is awesome. Always enjoy your vids on restoration.
I wonder if anyone else would watch it if Chip would put out the Best of Sand Blasting video?

Wow that truck looks amazing very nice job 😎👍👍

I like your workmanship 👍

You just got me thinking that maybe the heat gun could also prevent cracking on the powder coating
Spectacular restoration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
👍👍👍🎖🏅🏆Genial maestro.... Saludos desde Viña del chile🇨🇱

All likely check, he’s the only one that shows it.
You did a outstanding job. The red and white color makes this truck shine. Love it.

You are amazing. It's one thing to have the tools, it's another thing to know how to use them. I love watching you restore these toys, several of which I had when I was kid.
A good restoration job done there there is nothing like bringing old toy cars and trucks back to life again.
I love every part of how you fix these toys and other items but when you sand blast the nasty off of those pieces it is satisfying for some reason. You do a really good job. And watching that gray bumper turn to chrome was really cool.
It is the MOST satisfying part!
There must be a channel of JUST sand blasting
Super high quality restoration well done and keep it going

Another fantastic restoration. I love the red and white combo. It looks so clean. I really enjoy watching your videos they are quite relaxing for me.
I have been looking forward to this restoration as I had a blue truck like this as a kid.
If it had a boom, they are worth huge bucks today. Search ebay, tonka boom truck
We never really grow up the hobby just gets more expensive 😂

Good morning from Southeast South Dakota. Been rainy and drizzly for the last 4 day's with only a half of inch of rain.
Thats all the rain we get all year in south central texas....

I am always amazed at your painstaking attention to detail. The touches of whimsy always give me a smile. (I love the cyclops sheep!)
Que cnulada jrasias señor por tomarse el tiempo volver ala vida esta ermosa troka Dios los vendija
Another Beautiful Restoration.
good job very nice to be able to restore things
Man, chrome paint has really come a long way! Almost as good as chrome itself!
Cracking? Maybe try heating it up first....
That’s what I was thinking, we would try to use silver spray paint but it never matched or looked good. And it actually made it look cheap.
I was thinking a little heat might help too.
Was thinking the same thing on the chrome paint... That chrome powder coating is outstanding! Other restorer's on YT strip, sand and polish the metal, then plate it, followed by another polishing step. "Chrome" powder coating seems so much easier and it looks fantastic!
I had a truck just like this, only brown instead of white, back in 1959. Dad bought it at Western Auto.
So beautiful truck!
FTA. Plus the bit at the end about sending them off to market is always going to be funny.
One of your better ones...for sure!
