    On a refill of a hot tub, which uses the freshwater salt system, is it okay to sanitize the fill water (trying to get it to 5ppm of chlorine), before the water is perfectly balanced? My Alkalinity and pH are high, and it will likely take awhile (probably a week) especially for the alkalinity to come down? I've already added 1/2 the salt, new salt cartridge and silver ion cartridge...if that makes any difference.

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  3 роки тому

      Yes I recommend to my customers to add 2 TBS of chlorine for the first 3 days of a fresh fill to make sure the salt system gets off to a good start.

    Hello Hot tub Lady, thanks for your channel. I just got a new jacuzzi hot tub and have a question, I only have it a week and so I'm learning things or trying lol. I only went 3x this week and my hot tub dealer when I first filled my tub said to add 1oz of amerese granuals and 2 oz of shock which I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do? Now I just went and checked it after one week and seen zero chlorine and so I went in and after getting out added shock then checked it 25 min after and same results no chlorine. I think I made the mistake in not adding chlorine first? is that correct? I then decided to add the 2 oz of chlorine in hopes of rasing my chlorine levels. any help is much appreciated.

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  Рік тому +1

      Hey Joe. congratulations on you new hot tub. You will love it. Yes it sounds like you are negatie chlorine at this point. Are you using ozone or a mineral cartrige at all? These will give you a back up as a sanitizer.
      i would recomend that you add 2 tsp of chlorine after every use but never go more than 3 days wiothout adding chlorine.
      For your current situation. I would suggest adding 3TBS of chlorine I would wait 10 minutes and test. if it is not a solid 10ppm or higher I would repeat. The goal is to get to a solid 10ppm. you do not have to be there long but you have to get there. Once you get to the 10ppm you have now reached break point chlorine and what that does is truns the bad chlorine back into good chlorine. If you do not get to 10ppm you will just be adding to the problem. When doing this make sure that the cover is completely off and the jets are running for at least a half hour. I hope this helps and you love your hot tub.

      @@TheHotTubLady Thanks so much for your quick reply. yes that's exactly what I did and got it up to 10 ppm did not know that I should add chlorine every few days even when not using it but will do so now, thank you! it does have an ozinator that I think from what I read it comes on whenever heat is on.
      being that I added cholrine today and it was 10 ppm next time I go in shouldn't I be using the shock to revive the chorine that I added today? thanks again for your help and love your channel!

    What type of pump do I need to drain a tub?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  4 роки тому +1

      Any submersible pump will work. It is best if you have one that will shut off on it's own when the water runs out. My favorite one to use is an in ground cover pool pump. Your favorite pool and spa store should have one. I recently discovered a pump free system called "quick drain" very quick and efficent way to drain a hot tub. I'll attach a link, but for us old Nebraska farm girls very easy to use. www.amazon.com/Backyard-Innovations-Quick-Spa-Drain/dp/B002NHFMOW/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=quick+drain+hot+tub&qid=1593635403&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-2

    Question - I plan to submerge the flare model into my deck my question is the indicator logo that displays red green and blue can we submerge that and get all the messages we need from the control panel or do we need to elevate the spa above the deck for the message indicator?

    • @TheHotTubLady
      @TheHotTubLady  3 роки тому

      Great questions you can get all the info from the control panel... however I would recommend raising high enough to see the indicator light cause of you sink it flush it is very difficult to get in to it. It is a giant step down from that level. Also keep in mind that is where the equipment is as well and you will need access to the equipment compartment. Your sales person should have some good insight on this for you.

    • @GM-5515

      Thank You !! My deck is 6 feet high so there will be enough room underneath to go under and remove the panel. My dilemma was do I just make it flush to make it look sleeker and easier to get into but I was nervous that if I do this that the Control Panel won’t let me know what the Color Logo indicator. So, you are saying the Control Panel LCD will let me know everything the color logo would correct ?

Then I would just have to go through a few screens to find out what the issue is? Are there different indicators or just one Thanks for your patience I’m having a machine delivered today so we can drop the tub into the deck that’s why this has become such an important question and my store I bought it from isn’t open till 11:00 to talk too. I had the Hot Springs Flair delivered just yesterday.

      @@GM-5515 yes. But they won’t tell you as soon as the ready lights will.....I would have you do me a favor and stand on your kitchen table and step down to the chair with no one giving you a hand. That is about the same difference from the deck to the first seat in the hot tub.... it is a very big step down. If you are comfortable with that you can sink it. I recommend my customer leave about 16” above the deck for was of entry and that also keeps the ready light visible. I hope this is helpful.. also I have had people put a nest or some sort of wireless outdoor camera (very inexpensive) just focused on their ready lights and that has been helpful to them
      As well. 😀😀

    Actually, for the filter cleaning it is better to have a spare filter and interchange with the filter from the spa when you are due to clean, this means that each time you take the filter out you are going to clean that filter and let it dry and add the spare directly to the pool without downtime. This will increase the lifespan of the filters and for the presenter here it is a way for her to make a little extra more money to.
