I love Grand Central Market in LA, so many good foods there. I also love Little Tokyo, there's a place called Izakaya Gazen, the food there is as close to something you'll get in the real Tokyo. Not sure if you guys were able to eat there or not. But if you're back in LA someday, I highly recommend that place.
If you have the tine, head back north to the SF Bay Area - but go to the South Bay. A great variety of different cuisines. Try Falafels Drive-In. Palo Alto Farmers Market with the Roli Roti truck - porchetta, ribs or chicken. Some of the best Afghan, Persian and Indian food.

I feel like Grand Central Market is more of a tourist destination. I remember it being just a locals spot decades ago, a place to go to very early in the morning almost like an overseas fruits and vegetable market and a flower market of sorts. My wife and I visited there a while ago and I’m just being honest, we had a hard time finding any restaurant stall we wanted to spend our money at for lunch.
Oh no, you didn’t try Donut Man’s stuffed strawberry donut! They are known for them! I will drive 40 minutes to get their seasonal stuffed donuts. B Louie has wonderful French pastries, the eclairs are the best! Udon looked so yummy! I miss the food in LA, but don’t miss the commute. Glad you stayed safe!

You should've gotten the strawberry donuts that what they are famous for. They been on the news and the food network for them. People would drive from all over Southern California to their original location in Glendora for the Strawberry d's and the lines are super long 24hrs. I've even went 2am and there was even a long line. You'll just have to come back
