  • In a wide-ranging interview with the BBC's North American Editor Jon Sopel, US President Barack Obama said a lack of changes on US gun laws was the "greatest frustration" of his presidency. Mr Obama also told the BBC what he will say about gay rights in Kenya, why his own Congress and the Gulf nations should accept the recent Iran nuclear deal, and what he expects his legacy as president will be.

    For all the ups and downs I'm grateful to have had such a brilliant and level headed person as our leader the past two terms. I'm proud to have had this president be the first and second one I voted for. I can only hope his accomplishments are carried on by the next person in office.

      Jaqen more than this - the next president will never be like this man again. no way - to have the acumen and savvy to juggle so many things at once despite the non stop bs against him. imagine if bush or trump or walker become pres in 2016 ? there will be war all over again

    More than being remembered as the first black president, i believe he will simply go down in history as a great President with a very long list of accomplishments in very tumultuous times.

      +DaSnarky Remarky We know Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim.
      He has said he'll stand with the Muslims when things get ugly in his book.
      He has said the future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet Mohammed.
      He has said Muslims built America.
      He has threatened to shoot down Israeli jets.
      He has given the Muslim "one finger in the air" sign last summer.
      Obama has justified ISIS actions by saying "The Crusades" just as ISIS has done in many videos.
      He has a ring that says there is no God but Allah.
      But what kind of Muslim is he? Not only do I believe he's hiding that he's a Muslim. But he's hiding what kind of Muslim he is.
      At first glance the most obvious choice is that he is a Sunni Muslim.
      1) He has funded/pushed/created the Arab Spring whereby dictators were thrown out in Sunni dominated Libya/Egypt and almost Syria (also Sunni dominated). Those dictators were replaced with (Sunni) ISIS rebels.
      2) In Egypt the Dictator Mubarak was replaced with the front group The Muslim Brotherhood and Mohammed Mursi. (SUNNI)
      3) He has bowed to the Sunni King of Saudi Arabia.
      4) He has funded and given logistics information about US troop plans to the Sunni ISIS. You could even argue Obama, John McCain and Hillary helped create ISIS by sending them weapons in Libya and Syria.
      4) Obama was born and raised and went to Madrassa's in the Sunni dominated Kenya. Indonesians are Sunni Muslims who Obama was adopted into.
      So then it's quite the head scratcher as to why he would then hire Valerie Jarrett to run his administration who was born in Shiite dominated Iran.
      Obama didn't support the Green movement in Iran which could have removed the Mullahs from power.
      1. Obama's parent's marriage fits the pattern of NIKAH MUT'AH, a Shia doctrine for temporary marriage by which a Shia Muslim man may marry a Jew or Christian for a specific period, then the marriage dissolves. Sunnis don't approve of this doctrine. The nature of Obama's parent's marriage is otherwise unknown.
      2. Shia Islam tends to be left-wing politically. Sunni tends to be right-wing.
      3. Though a minority, Shia Islam has deep roots in Mombasa, Kenya. The Shia are better organized than the Sunni in Kenya. They have an active missionary program and run a number of schools and hospitals.
      4. Kenya also has close ties with Iran. Ahmadinejad has visited there and they have signed numerous agreements concerning energy, agriculture, commerce, trade, etc.
      5. Obama's relative, Railia Odinga, whom he traveled to Kenya as a US Senator to support, favors Shariah law for Kenya. He was instrumental in bringing about the Iranian-Kenya agreements signed by Ahmadinejad.
      5. Obama's chief personal advisor, Valerie Jarrett, was born and spent her formative years in Iran. She has a very favorable view of the country.
      6. During the Presidential campaign, Obama said he would sit down with Ahmadinejad and discuss matters without preconditions, in spite of his being a holocaust denier and saying he wanted to destroy Israel.
      7. During the campaign Obama also had a private meeting with Hassan Al-Qazwini, Iraqi-born Shia who leads the Dearborn mosque, the largest American mosque. The press was not allowed to be present. They later admitted that they discussed the Middle East and Obama accepted a copy of Qazwini's book, AMERICAN CRESCENT.

      If you mean by the US the ideal of the noble Founding Fathers, I agree. I suppose you could perceive him to be a splendidly horrifying example of American decadence in light of the old traditions of the country and their spiritual and philosophical European origins. I would not dispute that analysis. What might the likes of noble Jefferson, Emerson or Thoreau make of Obama? Probably not a lot.

      Aries2012100 Aries- Obama is a master charlatan he is an America Hating goul, in sheeps clothing. This man is not to be trusted. He talks calm, intelligently- and with class- but he's constantly trashing the US, showing his hatred and contempt for the US- for Caucasians in general. He's not straight- he's crooked and he's sinister. And he has nothing but contempt for UK, for exactly the same reason he hates the US- but shows that when he's off the BBC interview- he's no fool.

      ***** LOL Is that the best you can do? First you are in denial that the UN report exists and accuse me of lying, then when I provide it for you, you try to make excuses for it. How pathetic, how Obama!
      Closing down Quantanamo was one of Obama's main campaign promises before becoming president. Since becoming president he has signed 226 executive orders which bypasses the requirement of congressional approval, so he could have made good on his promise to close Quantanamo at any time during his two terms in office, but the liar in chief refused to do so.
      Under Obama the national debt has doubled, the middle class has been virtually wiped out, the militarised police force are out of control, entire cities are going bankrupt, 100 million are unemployed and 50 million people rely on food stamps to survive, 1 in 30 children are homeless, Obama care is a complete disaster, 100's of thousands of illegal immigrants are flooding in through open borders, and the TPP deal is selling out the American people to corporations. Did I miss anything......?

      ***** Well congratulations on being the world’s worst violator of human rights ...... I hope you're proud. Obama has had seven years to do something about it, but failed miserably. Maybe it wasn't in the job description! I wonder if he even thinks about any of the suffering he has caused, or all the innocent men, women and children he has murdered, whilst admiring his Nobel Peace Prize? Good bye, and Good riddance to the lying, warmongering criminal psychopathic piece of shit.

    I'd never understand the anti - Obama whether they're really too demanding or too conservative. Besides, in such a tough times, Obama did far better than Reagan where now all parts of Asia still look up to America to contain China's naughtiness towards their absurdness claimed of their nine - dash lines, Obama administrations really did a great favour for SEA countries like the Philippines and the Vietnam by sending their warships against China warships.

    • @jiuntingyong88
      @jiuntingyong88 8 років тому

      Look at the real facts, he did America image in the arena. Now the world really looked up to America to lead once. His snubbing was like a joke yet diplomatic skills are way better than China.
      His containment of China was welcomed by ASEAN members. His drone to contained terrorism in Pakistan compare to China that giving out massive bribes. He is better than any Head of States. In fact, the world hated Russia & China. The real facts is, people viewed China & Russia more suspiciously than America.
      I suspected China and Russia is on their propaganda anti-Obama campaign.

    Barak Obama touched many aspects which they are useful for international relations. Specially These parties were more essential for me and I appreciate Obama's kind of points. They are-equal treatment, nuclear weapons, African Union, and generations after him. Firstly I would like to mention equal treatment. It is very significant factor and all of us have to respect it because it bases tradition,nation and so on. Nuclear weapons- Currently, All of us knows that nuclear weapons are more necessary for improving economy but we have to use it with right way. Thirdly, I would like to mention- African Union. Obama spoke about specially Kenia, Efiopia because there are numerous resources and it is obvious that they are vital for future. I really enjoyed from this listening and interview. I agree with your words.
    I believe this man is simply a "great man".
    After 8 years of constant opposition by the right and the extreme right, the tea party and friends.
    After so much negative behaviour by congressmen, senators and citizens on this advanced human being, clever and educated person.
    What a man to take all these insults, belittling, and still have kind words, kind behaviour and stay the course.
    This is the man of the century or the millennium.
    wow

    RE : STIRRING SPEECH AND DRESS CODE
    But the first thing I want to say is thank you for your support, and thank you for the opportunity and the privilege you’ve given me to serve these past eight years. I remember standing just a few blocks north of here in the closing days of the 2008 campaign. And at that point, we were already realizing that we were in the midst of the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes. We didn’t know where the bottom would be. We were still in the middle of two wars. Over 150,000 of our troops were overseas. But thanks to the hard work and the determination of the American people, when I come here today the story is different.

    The BBC should note, the words 'Islamic State' were not used once during this interview...only the less thorny description ISIL, commonly used in American reports? My formal complaint to the BBC several months ago was pompously waved aside, and whilst there now appears to be some influence changing the BBC's position they simply now add the words 'the so called, self-styled, they call themselves...' islamic state (small 'is' intentional): I'm thinking some all powerful bod at the BBC, in advertising/promoting Isil's preferred branding around the world, would have been very comfortable breaking bread with Adolf around the dinner table?

    • @CGetRight
      @CGetRight 9 років тому

      +Dennis Broe-Ward You do know that ISIS WANTS to be called Islamic state right? That does way more for them in terms of legitimising their war, by galvanising 1.6bn people.
      So, why would the BBC help in their propoganda

    • @fupopanda
      @fupopanda 8 років тому

      +Dennis Broe-Ward. You're very very stupid. It's better to call them ISIL (Iraq & Levant) or ISIS (Iraq & Syria) than to call them IS (no geographical limits), which is what they want everyone to call them.

    • @dennisbroe-ward8934
      @dennisbroe-ward8934 8 років тому +1

      David Cameron gave a long speech in the House of Commons yesterday, and didn't refer to Isil as "Islamic State" once. He and other British politicians have, it seems, now got the message, are following the USA example...not legitimising Isil by referring to them as a 'state'. BBC, reporters, however, continue to call them 'Islamic State', over and over in single sentences...it really bugs me.

    Its hilarious how people think this guy is so progressive, so intuitive, so righteous. He talks about change, and people coming together; the only thing this guy has done is tear people apart, by causing tension, and strife among the American people, along with the whole world. So many of us got sucked into his rhetoric, and what it comes down to is, people voted for him because he was black; not because of his policy's, or what he wanted to do for the American people. Its a shame, and people will probably call me racist for that statement, when, in-fact so many of the people that did vote for him, voted for him solely for the color of his skin. If thats not racist, I don't know what is.

    • @planetgreen87
      @planetgreen87 9 років тому

      No, wrong. People voted for him because of support for his policies. Affordable care, saving the automobile industry, getting is out of the Bush recession, support for green energy, gay rights, ending the Cuban embargo, the Iran deal , etc. Best president this country has had in decades.

    • @TheSebastian5978

      Sorry, but no. Iran deal? Come on man. Worst "deal" ever, maybe you missed what the ayatollah khamenei tweeted, why don't you take a look. www.cnn.com/2015/07/28/politics/iran-ayatollah-khamenei-twitter-obama-image/ . Also, my folks lost there health ins because of the ACA. They are 76 & 70 not the best time to loose your health ins. Your so called president is a total shill. And yes, people did vote fore him because of the color of his skin. I live in LA and I ask my friend's why they voted for him, and they cant give any specifics. Spare me my sick, liberal friend.

      This isn't about politics. It's about science.

      ***** Research shows every scientist agrees that climate change is real. The pentagon considers it a threat. There's mountains of scientific evidence that climate change is happening, every year hits a new record of being the hottest. Even republicans admit that it's real, they just don't want to deal with it because of how expensive it is (putting them at a disadvantage economically against other countries) and they only care about the short term. How is this not enough for you? Are you really that delusional?
      I don't even have to research it, I can just look outside. Every year it used to snow and it hasn't for more than 5 years. The rivers in my neighbourhood used to flow and now are all dried up
      You should research and try not to get your information from fakes new websites, like infowars for example. Do research from official news websites, like CNN, The Guardian, etc. or science website where there is no bias, just science.

      - It used to snow every year. It hasn't for the last eight. Obviously, this isn't something scientific, it's just a personal anecdote.
      - This has been the warmest august recorded by NASA since it began monitoring monthly global temperatures 136 years ago. This record-warm August marks the eleventh consecutive month that has set a new record for monthly high-temperatures.
      - 2016 is on track to be the warmest year on record, according to the UN’s World Meteorological Organization. “Another month, another record. And another. And another. Decades-long trends of climate change are reaching new climaxes,” says World Meteorological Organization Secretary-General Petteri Taalas.
      - Arctic sea ice reached a milestone this year by hitting its annual lowest extent on September 10, according to NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center.
