- In previous videos we discussed all of the coolest and strongest monsters that evolved into Fusion, Synchro and Xyzs monsters and how their particular upgrade fared in the competitive metagame, or how they managed to reference or callback to their original counterparts.
So now it’s time to cover the best Pendulum Evolutions in the game, the ideas and themes they represent and why they managed to see competitive play.

I can't emphasize enough how much I love that these lists not only cover how the original differs mechanically, but also anime, lore, or aesthetic reasons as well. Makes it so much more entertaining than just explaining the text on the card, as let's be honest, a huge portion of the fanbase got into it for the visuals, so they deserve some examining.

You forgot to mention revolution dragon is also a 12 scale, the highest number you can get in a scale while z-arc has 1. It's the complete opposite and its such a nice detail
Supreme King Gate Infinity has a scale of 13.
There are effects that let you modulate scales, so saying that X is the highest number is inaccurate as nothing stops you from just using a spell card to increase a scale then recycle it to use again
We have 0 and 13 pendulum scales but yeah, I love when they do things like this
@@magicball3201 false, cards that raise or lower scales will often say something along the lines of (limit 1 or zero) or on the high end (limit 12 or 13) so there literally is a hard limit
What about the new card Supreme celestial king odd eyes arc ray dragon it has the ultimate scale of 13, and it's the literal light counterpart of Zarc
Great video DuelLogs but one correction for sure needs to be made. Endymion the Mighty Master of Magics Pendulum Scale Effect doesn't destroy cards up to the total of spell counters used for its summom (IE 6) but rather based on how many cards you currently control that can have spell counters placed onto them (IE with a maxed out board would be 11) [6 monsters including Endymion, 4 Potential Spells and Traps (5th one was where Endymion was in scale) and 1 for the Field Spell. Other than that amazing video!
And it's a non targeting pop, which is another great perk. Endymion doesn't get the praise he deserves as one of the most useful boss monsters in the game.

@@YasserDjoko "Also probably because of how generally non linear a Mythical Endymion deck's play style can be" definitely this, I was just watching Lithium's old video from 4 years ago, when Endymion debuted in the OCG, and a lot of people were shocked that the deck had apparently flopped, but then you would check out the one list that Lithium showed in that video from some random OCG tournament and it was dreadful, absolute garbage that only someone who doesn't understand the mechnic would come up with.
I like the little splash of lore to show the synergy between lore and gameplay/strategy/ archetype mechanics
The ironic part about odd-eyes revolution dragon being a foil to Z-ARC is that it’s going to be one of the decks main searchers once the Z-ARC support arrives.
Bro I’ve been messing around with the new z-arc support in edopro and have to say it’s really good. Can’t wait to get it in the TCG

Konami seems to like opponents in the lore to play together in real life.
Aluber is a great card in Branded decks and I'm pretty sure there are other examples but I can't recall them exactly.

I play performapal, magician, and odd-eyes cores but am updating to Z-ARC centered when overlord comes out
Honestly card evolutions is one of my all time favorite aspects of Yugioh. It's always such a delight going to my local shop and getting like 8 packs of the newest set just to check out the new cards and seeing stuff like Mimicking Man-Eater Bug, Dark Dimensional Soldier, Fierce Tiger Monghu, and Maha Vailo, Light of the Heavens. I like how this game has gone on for long enough that iconic old cards can just be given modernized evolutions, and it's always fun seeing how antiquated effects get redone to fit the standard gamestate. Hell, we just got an archetype that supports HUNGRY BURGER.
This game is so cool.
I think what i like most about pendulum evolutions over all other evolutions. Is that there is an in anime reason as to why a monster might be a pendulum. With the rebirth of everyone into the pendulum dimension at the end of Arc-V. Not only that but it seems that a lot of pendulum evolved monsters even have in lore reasons as to their evolutions like in the case with Endymion.
Also i love how you made this list not just with playability in mind, but also taking into account a card's lore and or relation the anime.
I really enjoyed the lore explanations. Big Benkei's was especially touching.
It should be noted that Benkei was based on a real historical person. The real Benkei was a warrior monk who served the samurai lord, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who is represented by Prodigy Warrior. Benkei was said to have died standing after fighting to the end, defending his lord and stopping their enemies from claiming his head. Gong and Yuya's bond mirror Benkei and Yoshitsune's friendship.
It lets me feel at peace with SuperheavySamurai's playstyle became like infernity's extra deck vomit machine playstyle.
it at least fits with gong's character arc.
now the only thing remaining to bring it full circle is support that rewards you for going back to the original SHS playstyle of "attacking in DEF Position" as a "the style may change, but the tradition still lives own" (besides just handcapping you by not playing S/T)
One cool thing about Endymion is not just how better and stronger at manipulating spell counters he became, but how he became more efficient as well. Whenever he uses his negate, he has to return a monster you can place spell counters on to the hand to do it, but he gets any spell counters that monster might had, meaning there's no waste of spell counters with him.
Unless you return endymion himself with spell counter. It will be wasted
And then you can just re place the card you returned, which will likely be pendulum, meaning you just technically used a spell for more counters

Or you can just resummon the returned monster to a zone Selene points to. There's great versatility when playing Endymion.
Surprised you didn't mention Chronograph Sorcerer as a honorable mention during the Astrograph Sorcerors section seeing as it is also a upgraded form of timegazer magician.

Anime-wise it wouldn't make sense as Astrograph is the evolution and fusion of Timegazer and Stargazer
When Yuya was going sicko mode, you can see two cards fly from his duel disk then merge to form Astrograph

I don't think Endymion gets to pop equal the number of counters removed (would be nice). It pops cards up to the cards you can put spell counters on currently on your field.

@@lgp5619 right,in the past i was using cubic deck and duel with a guy playing endymion i was get close to win while have crimson nova on board but he acti master magic eff and destroy my field i was shock bc i never thought that monster has such a sick power

Even Duel Logs can't read Endymion.
This video makes me want the Duel Terminal lore explained by Duel Logs similar to what he did with the Abyss Lore

I know ive seen a lot of opinions online saying red eyes and odd eyes dont have any real synergy, but ive managed to make a pretty decent fusion of the two archetypes. Its not topping locals, but its still decent and really fun

Doriado had a pendulum upgrade but I don't know the lore reasons. But I did love all the lore talk for Benkei and the Zefra cards.

I really like your summary of the lore of the cards on the list and how they came to be and why, incredible video and I love it a lot. Well done brother!
Characters like Gong are so fun and silly conceptually. The idea that you have to "train" to use a TCG mechanic is so funny. And whenever characters "get stronger", it always just translates to them having new cards they didn't have before.

Recent videos have a lot of effort put in, and it shows, the dude works super hard, hope he's won't burn himself out.
I loved how you explained each card's evolution and the functioning of their respective engines or archetype while also pointing out the relationship between the lore and the mechanics and how the actual characteristics of the cards reflected the story of the characters and events implied.
I'd love to see you do a series in which you narrate and explain the stories of the archetypes and different cards involved in said stories, while showing how those events and characters are portrayed in the actual mechanics and way the archetype and cards work, just as you dis here. I don't know if you have done something like that already, but I don't see that others have done it in such a detailed way as you did in this video; so, if would be awesome if you consider it as a possible idea for a new series. Thanks a lot for the videos. ❤

Seing DuelLogs talk about the lore / flavour / anime / manga reasons for the card design, is so fascinating to see and hear
24:50 I really wish Retrain Big Benkei AT LEAST had the Pendulum effect: " "Superheavy Samurai" monsters on the field can attack while in face-up Defense position, and if they do, apply their DEF for damage calculation." So it at least let you have the option of the original SHS style. As even if it completely powercrepts Big Benkei, it's legacy still lives on

Endymion doesnt destroy cards up to the spell counters removed. After being summoned it counts how many cards you have that can have spell counters then destroys up to that many. Also it needs at least 1 spell counter on it for its targeting and destruction immunity
Found it really odd that you didn't mention at all that Archfiend Eccentrick also synergizes with a lot of Archfiend monsters (including Heiress) by triggering their "when destroyed by card effect" effects.

Odd Eyes archetype is my favourite in the entire TCG, it has so many options and themes while also utilises a very nice piece of artworks

Eccentric is also an odd combination of stats of attributes that makes her one of the best Small World bridges for Numeron strategies. Thanks to it Small World can search Lava Golem from Numeron Wall and viceversa. In Runick dominance it can be used to search a copy of Invader of Darkness.

You know what’s funny? That “Astrograph Sorcerer” is not anymore a combination between Stargazer and Timegazer Magician, since “Chronograph Sorcerer” exists now.

I think Revolution is from a different manga that doesn't follow the regular Arc-V manga story, but rather the anime story. So yeah, it's an evolution of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.

Endymion can only search a Spell if he’s destroyed while holding a Spell Counter. He also can’t be targeted or destroyed while he has a Spell Counter.

They fucking promised that the later pendulum cards blue and red scale could be different to add complexity to pendulum strategy but it seems they forgor completely about it

Top cards that have spell speed 4 effects (updated)
The last time Zefra was actually good as an engine was shortly after Swordsoul came out. I topped a couple tournaments with pendulum swordsoul using the Zefra engine. Since the scales were Wyrms they allowed me to reveal them for the swordsouls. It edged out the mirror match against Tenyi Swordsoul quite often due to the backrow the Zefra engine could snag. Chixao and Baronne backed up with Divine Strike and Nine Pillars was just gross.

Actually Endymion's effect doesn't work like that: You can destroy cards up to the number of cards that you control that you can put Spell Counters on it... that mean that whe you summon him you can destroy up to 12 cards (if you have a full board of Spell Counter Cards and even an Extra Link)

So since we saw the Chaos Emperor Dragon Pendulum Evolution in this video, is it safe to assume that the Black Luster Soldier Link Evolution will be featured in the Link Evolution video?
And yeah, I would personally consider Accesscode to be an evolution of Decode Talker. Not by way of effect (Though the ATK gain can kinda be generic among the Code Talkers), but because of the Skill that the main protagonist uses, Storm Access. Storm Access to access Accesscode is a neat way of referencing the bond that the main protagonist and Ai had, as it encapsulates the evolution of the Code Talkers, especially since it's one Link Rating higher than the other more traditional Code Talker monsters.
I'm 50% sure u can bring out zefrath with the spell card a wild monster appears!

Dinoster Power can be made with Luster P and any Dinomist
Majester Paladin can be made with Luster P and a level 4 Majespecter
Ignister Prominence is NOT POSSIBLE with Luster P and Igknights as they do not have a lever 4 tuner

Odd-eyes revolution dragon is an evolved form of odd-eyes phantom and odd-eyes dragon phantasmas
The endymion non target destruction effect was incorrectly stated. It can destroy cards on the field up to the number of cards you control that have a spell counter. It is not up to the amount of spell counters removed.
Duellogs is getting sloppy.
