Not me reflexively whispering *Uk'otoa* under my breath every time SungWon said it
Everytime
*Whispered.*
Uk’Otoa.
One of the thing you didn't mention, and i really like about the game is that when you move up Uk'otoa you discard the tile it was on. So over time the ship reduce in size, and you have less place to escape. I feel like the game is funnier at 4 players cause you don't have to wait for a tentacle to start moving your character (unlike at 5), and you have a player that you can't ally with (unlike at 2/3). I agree that you get bored quickly of the game, you can try different map, but it doesn't change the game that much.
I'm a critter and I agree with this review kinda perfectly - they tried to tow the line (hah), just enough between, "simple, fast, party game"; and "complex strategy" such that they kinda don't nail either. but just diluting each flavor... you can definitely still enjoy it, but you have to be in the mood for exactly that "halfway" point.
"Light green and dark green"
In this episode ProZD discovers he is colorblind.
This is what I thought, too.
Me too.
I ran here to find this comment
It's teal really, which some see as blue and others as green. It's definitely not a clear / strong blue. And importantly they look incredibly similar as a result. Teal and green are not good choices! A proper blue would be.

Having just watched a video where someone demos a piece of gear sent by the manufacturer and always gives it a glowing review, it's really refreshing to see ProZD get a game from the company and not be under any pressure to give anything but his honest thoughts. Kudos!
Yeah. I'm a big Critrole fan, and a fan of boardgames too, but I never bought this one, because to me, it always seemed like each game would be over far too quickly, and without much substance to it along the way.
I felt like the game seemed kind of all over the place, really. But I guess that's what you'd expect from a company's first attempt at a boardgame...?
Thanks for the review, I'm glad I didn't waste my money since my trepidations seem to have turned out to be correct.
A CRITICAL ROLE VIDEO ON YOUR CHANNEL?? IM SO HAPPY
One of his Prozd + Pals episodes is with Matt Mercer ua-cam.com/video/MhR60sA_FUY/v-deo.html
well this was timed extremely well given what happens in 2 days
What happens in 2 days…?
@@rippujin1735 I assume they're referencing the Critical Role animated series that is debuting in 2 days?

Probably why they sent it out around now.
You pronounced the name of the creature perfectly! :)
*whispers* Uk'otoaaaa
The 2 factions thing probably makes it so you control twice as many pieces in the same size board, but without actually having full control over any pieces
I love your reviews cuz they are super open and genuine and you clearly want to love every new game you play, so your critiques come with a measure of brutal honesty and earnestness I really appreciate
Maybe the camera is changing how the pieces look, but that looks like light blue and light green. Pretty distinct on our end, at least.
Uk'otoa...uk'otoa...uk'otoa
It’s great how unbiased this review is. I don’t think many in the same industry would talk ill of something associated with the industry mega beast that Critical Role is. Good on you ProZD.
They aren't light green and dark green; they're green and blue respectively. Still, you're not wrong that they're too similar.
As someone who's red-green colorblind. I agree with Prozd here. Those colors are too close together. They both get greyed out a bit in my eyes.
Teal isn't blue
(whispers) uka'toa... uka'toa...
You actually pronounced the name right!
You pronounced the name correctly
to all the comments saying perhaps ProZD is possibly colourblind, the answer might lie more in the fact that Korea doesn't have a distinct word for the colour Blue, and "green" covers both the green/blue parts of the colour spectrum.
It's less about him not seeing the difference, but he was raised not to think that difference is two separate colours.
UK’OTOA
uk’otoa….toa….toa
I've gotta say, I genuinly like the whole faction angle of the game. I had never played (or even heard of) semi cooperative board games before, and it's much more interesting to me to have a potential temporal ally to keep in mind and decide whether to try and get on their good side or not, than simply being in it for myself from start to finish. It gives the game just enough layer to keep me invested.
But like some people already have pointed out, it works best with 4 players. Here's a video of the creator's playing it, which gives a better idea of how the actual gameplay looks like: ua-cam.com/video/Eq93dzkOFWY/v-deo.html
Uk’otoa (Uk’otoa Uk’otoa Uk’otoa Uk’otoa)
Uk'otoaaaaaa
Maybe it’s because I like kid’s board games and am not really well versed in anything beyond Parker Brothers, but this game looks pretty neat to me even without the Critical Role connection.
I had a lot of fun with 4 friends. With 4 people, you can try to form opportunistic alliances more easily and there's a lot of scheming. Combining forces with a faction at the end to scrape a 2 player victory can be a fun development as well. The game doesnt work well with less than 4 players in my opinion, however. I'd give it a 7/10, love the freedom with map layouts as well.
*whispers* Uk'otoa
uk'otoa, uk'otoa...
(uk'otoaaaa....)
Ha wasn’t expecting this!
Noice. Was wondering how this game worked!
*uk'utoaaaaaaa*
Prepare for the Critter Hug my friend
Yes you said it right
Pronunciation was fine, only thing that could have been more accurate was a few more people in the background to do whisper-echoes of it.
FJORD
*Whispers* Uk’otoa Uk’otoa…
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
What is the point of the arrows on the board? I feel like it's not just for setting it up?
It shows you which way to move Uk'otoa, you move him along the arrows.
Amazing
this is very confusing and cool
Reminds me of SOH CAH TOA.
only with more unseeable angles
yaa
Awesome
0:54 "Light green" ~Picks up a light green figure~ "and dark green" ~Picks up a very clearly (to me) blue figure.~ "Didn't go with a nice blue."
Is this another dress situation? Or is it my monitor? Because to me that is very clearly blue and not a "dark green" .
"Dark green" looks blue to me.
I love this video
Huh
Seems interesting
That's definitely blue, yeah, the one you called "dark green". When's the last time you had your color vision checked? (Not trolling, genuine question if you see it.)
I'm not sure how different they look in real life vs how they appear on camera, but at least to me they're pretty immediately distinguishable between green and blue.
Critical Role baby!
Pls do eldritch horror
dude those pieces are blue, are you colorblind?
The Critters send our love!!!
Mice
"Light green and dark green." (One of 'em's blue.)
Depending on how seriously you think the pieces look "light green" and "dark green" rather than "blue" and "green", you might have tritanomaly or tritanopia.
light green, dark green..... bro that's green and blue, is your eye sight okay?
*Early!*
First
first
Hell yeah Critical Role fans
Just sounding off, you should say Luke and subscribe, more on brand

Very cool. Day 51 of asking ProZD to review 1830: Railways and Robber Barons.
Hell yeah, ProzD and CR collab :D
Just in time for LOVM!!
he's a VA, they're VAs, that'd be a neat guest spot
ProZD, can you review the Stardew Valley board game?
*u'kotoa*
btw Critical Role fans are called Critters
Eyy, he did the game!
An animated series from campaign 1... Noice.
A board game from campaign 2... Epic.
Third time's the charm for a Critical Role videogame?? Only time will tell... probably not.
it's pronounced
*UK'OTOA*
*overlapping whispers* uk'otoa, uk'otoa...
