When using the china marker to mark out a stitch pattern (like diamonds, etc.) on the new pieces, how do you get it off? I read alcohol works but it didn't. I can use alcohol to remove ink pen but I'm not sure how good it is for marine vinyl. And I didn't want to use anything 'oily' that may cause stains.

Hello Queenbee, I use a white China marker, not red yellow, or black. To remove this, I use mineral spirits. Thanks for watching!

That looks like a big boy seat if I ever saw one, and I've seen plenty.

Thank you for this, I need to redo the seat for my husband's Honda Shadow and the shape of the seat has similarities to this. I'd already worked out some of it, but this will make is much easier. Will be my first big project on my industrial machine too.

Is there a pop rivet gun that you can recommend? Thanks

Hello Papa, I am not sure that a name brand is important. They all do the same thing. I guess a famous brand will do. Please keep liking and watching!

I have an issue with the rubber bumpers that have rivets under the seat, some of them are worn out. Is there a way to replace those rubber bumpers? They look identical to the ones on the seat in your video .

Hello Mink, I am sorry to say that I have never replaced the rubber bumpers as I only do the upholstery and never came across that before. Please keep liking and watching!

Are you sure that was technique 49 ? I could have sworn it was 47 😊.

Hi! That has always been technique #49 not seperating a pattern completely. May be very similar to technique #47 There is no wrong answer!

I need your opinion and help
I am doing the reupholstering on my motorcycle seats but I get across with something that it wasn't done when I took it apart, the top part of the seat has perforated look but there wasn't holes on it and the vinyl that I bought has the perforated and I assuming when it rains or whas the motorcycle the foam is gonna get wet and for sure it's gonna get moldy, my question for you should I put another layer of plain vinyl on the back?
When it gets hot or warm it doesn't get saggy or kinda slippery? What I mean it won't get something weird?

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  Рік тому +1

Hello Charlys, I would not use a perforated anything on a motorcycle seat. It should be as sealed as possible. Please keep liking and watching!

@@oldschoolautoupholstery thanks for the reply 🙏
So I think now I have to get vinyl with the look only 😁 or I can do some stitches to give it some look on top of it,
      Thanks old-school

@@charlys1219h Hello Charlys, Top stitching is acceptable on a motorcycle seat. But if exposed to the elements for a long time, it will be the perforations from the stitching that will fail first. Please keep liking and watching!

Or you could get a more proper tool and use a thread cutter… 🤷‍♂️
