Hello Farm Family. In this upload we are providing an update on our new livestock guardian puppy THOR as well as our Goslings Snap, Crackle, & Pop. Thor has been living his best life in the house with us for 3-4 days. He then spent another 2-3 days in our Black Russian Terrier Achilles room which is close by but still not fully outside. It has been a journey but we are ready for the next step in his training....it's time to send him packing!

Hi Everyone - thank you all for your love & support thus far. We truly appreciate each of you. Please remember that Thor is a LGD & not a house dog or pet. It was really hard for us to begin his training but he has a job to do which is in his bloodline through hundreds of years of evolution. It was hard to begin his training which is why he was in the house with us for a week 😂😂 Please stay tuned so that you can follow along with us & Thor as he becomes a great protector of his herd. @@marymendonca9170 I put this in another one of your comments but remember that you are watching an edited video. A typical video we upload is usually 1.5 hours of footage we edit down to 20-40 minutes. This is the first video in what im sure will be many about Thors journey & his upbringing the way WE see fit based on our research & meeting all of that knowledge somewhere in the middle. The point of this video was to showcase the house build & beginning his training. As the saying goes, "ask 10 people, get 10 different opinions". I am confident your grandfather is an awesome man & he does what works for HIM, his farm, & his animals. Please remember there is not ONE correct way. We all have our own paths. Kindness is free, I hope you can find it in your heart to leave comments on any channel that is constructive. No need for name calling or low blows. Thor...who is a working dog was in the house with us for a week 😂😂 because it was hard for us to detach & get him to his herd. @marymendonca9170, you seem to be searching for negativity that @ourbrownfarmhouse isn’t willing to give you. The reply was well-worded and complimentary to your grandfather. Projects and building are VERY MUCH part of the farm and their daily life, which is what subscribers want to see. The Browns don’t run a dairy farm, so it would be very difficult for you to attempt to compare them with how your grandfather does something. Even farms with similar animals and styles, do things different ways…. Each of our climates are different, our goals are different, and what works for one, may not work for another. Please remember to be kind if you choose to comment…. If you come from a farming family, you know the farm is strain enough, without the added pressure of sharing your life with complete strangers that cast judgment through their tainted microscope.

They never said or acted like they knew everything you are the only one saying crap like that. Just check out how many people have subscribed to their channel, I bet you don’t have anyone on your channel if you act the way you did to the Browns. Just read what you have posted to them, you were mean a know it all and even sounded evil. I hope our Lord will help you with your anger issues. You will definitely have more friends if you tried to better yourself. Please try for your own sake. The Brown family can block you and never hear from you again but you and the people around you will have to still deal with your anger issues. God please help this lady see the light 🌹🙏

@@marymendonca9170 Hi 👋🏾 during the day he is out & about with us &/or the goats. Due to his young age we put him to bed at night. One day in the near future he will be able to come & go as he pleases.

@@marymendonca9170 He isn't. He is out during the day during this phase of his training but we lock him up at night. In the very near future he will be able to come & go as he pleases but for now we feel better with him locked up at night. If a predator came at his current age he would be no match. ❤😊

I used to live in Central Florida (Ocala) and moved to Tennessee years ago. I totally forgot about diggers (Antlions) until I saw all of them in Frankie's house. We used to try to catch them when we were kids. Thank you for sparking the fond memories of all the neighborhood kids gathering around to play and have fun. What an awesome video! Love how y'all work around the rain and everyone is picthing in on Thor's house build. I'm not to sure if the goats wont be able to get in his little feeder area when you put the openings in. 🤔 Those goats are some smart and determined little buggers! 😂 Thor will be fine with the goats. Stephanie and Brandon from Eddy Family Farm did an awesome job of training him so he'd be used to goats, dogs and chickens. The goats just need to get used to his smell, and all will be well. I love those feeders, I think they are awesome. I can't wait to see the following videos of him and his girls all getting along in their enclosure.
Frankie and the goslings! (That could be a new song!😂) Anyway, I can't wait to see how Frankie likes her new little buddies (loose)and how they get along. Looks like one of the grey spotted ones has a grey spot on it's back just before the neck, compared to the other one. That one could be Crackle and the other one Pop! Or visa versa. Just a thought. 😁 I thought the surprise was the goslings were being turned loose. They have gotten so big! ❤️
So cool to meet more family! Family time is wonderful. I just love it! I moved from AZ to be near to my brother (only sibling I have) after my Dad passed cause he and his wife have a big family and they live in Missouri. I have mended my relationship with my son and helped him and his new wife and child move to Tennessee. So now I am so blessed to have my family close. That is all I've ever want in life.

We remember how quickly Achilles and Zeus grew, so we are excited to see Thor grow up. So far the girl goats have continued to warm up to him so that’s been great to see. They don’t run away when he comes towards them, so we are hoping their bond continues to grow. 🐐🐾
I would have put a wood floor in Thor's house so that he doesn't have to sleep on wet grass, mud, etc. He can be out in the elements without having to be directly in the elements.
Okay first I have to say that Kermit is my favorite from The Muppets! LGDs will normally sleep with their herd or dig in the dirt to sleep on a cooler surface. We have added more layers to the house to make sure it’s nice and dry for him,because even though he loves to play in the mud we don’t want him to have to sleep in it.😆

Looks like one of the gray geese has a black-tipped feather on its back so you might be able to tell them apart. Thor is going to love being outside once he gets used to it. It's neat that your family pitched in a little.

NICE HOUSE FOR THOR. I WOULD NAME THE ONE WITH THE BLACK DOT OF ITS BACK POP. BECAUSE THE DOT MAKES IT STAND OUT LIKE THE WORD POP.

When I visited my grandmother in FLA. in the 70's, I was driving down the road and the rain was falling down the road like a curtain, my side was sunny and we passed through this rain curtain to a down pour on the other side! I never saw anything like that before! I'm very glad to see that you kept the front of Thor's shelter open. Too many people build or buy a conventional dog house for their LGDs and wonder why they don't use it !!!! LGDs need to see all around in their pastures and don't like to be confined or closed in. Plus the double coated dogs get too hot in an enclosed dog house. LGDs in cold climates even lay out in the snow at night and do not want to be "inside"! What ever Thor can get into, the goats(smaller ones) can get into! Female emus are more aggressive in a herd situation when they havd to fighf for the males. IMO. Could you attatch a piece of curved PVC pipe ( with a cap)on the outside of Thor's "PASTURE PALACE " to fill the food bunker without going into the house. Just some thoughts and ideas! God Bless!

Just a friendly suggestion large breed puppies can get something call pannus if they grow too quickly it helps to feed a large breed puppy food so there isn't as much protein so he will grow a more slow steady rate instead of too quickly.
He will adjust quickly to the change, but will protest for a while.

I would put 2 2x4s across the back part of Thor's house on the ground then pit a piece of plywood down so his bed won't be on the wet ground.

Thor has been living with goats from where he came from.
He sure did Sandy & with chickens & many other animals. The Eddy's did an amazing job. Such great pups ❤❤
I'm going to admit I had a moment of dumb looking at the doghouse build. Being from up north of y'all the first thing I thought was, "What are they going to do come winter?" Then it hit me y'all in Florida. Lol. 😆🤣

When you get heavy rains the tarp will leak and with strong winds it will rip. If your going to use a tarp the canvas type works better then the plastic type. You say you want to do it right the first time then I would go with a metal or aluminum roof but it is up to you
I agree with you 100% I also grew up in the Army. Any dog needs to have that bond with all of his family. My grandparents didn't have a livestock guardian dog. They had a livestock guardian pig. My grandma always joked around saying she was the best guard they ever had. lol

I went to visit my Dad in Sarasota (from SoCal) and one day I wanted to go explore and started out but a rain storm set in and I ducked into a store thinking it would stop soon LOL, I found my way back to his house and it rained like that for 8 hours
