    I really like the way you view neuroscience from a variety of frames, so to speak, like electrical diagram as well as the usual chemical analogies. I’ve always found those connections lead to broader insights, being able to abstract one level higher, in the way that mathematicians do. Thank you!

      The Nernst equation shows the importance of learning about the natural logarithm function. Maybe it is the subject of numerical methods/analysis from which the Nernst equation comes from. I am a little fearful here in Las Vegas, Nevada because it seems at times people have liked inflicting guilt. There is something going in the lives of people here that they enjoy inflicting guilt. And because I have been double charged at a McDonalds store on my Wells Fargo checking account for a soft drink for two years or more now, it gives an indication of me being electronically monitored. Whoever is doing it, why don't they give it a rest, and find something else to do with their lives. I am never happy because this social environment makes me feel like a bad person. My dream is for someone to give me a path away from this location in Las Vegas. That way, I do not have the experience of being convinced I am a terrible person relative to other people in Las Vegas., or even my relatives. Why specifically have I been a terrible person who should always feel guilty? Some day I will get that answer.

    Nice, very intuitive lectures. 10:41 when we calculate the outside concentration of K+, what volume in outside region we are looking at ?

    • @bingsbrain
      @bingsbrain  Рік тому +1

      Great question! We are most concerned with the concentration of K+ immediately outside the cell. This concentration can be the same as solution the cell is in, but can also be locally a little different before it equilibrates with the exterior solution.

    42:52 Did I get it right that the potassium channels are always filled with a line of potassium ions, and a potassium ion "passing" from the top to the bottom actually means that it enters the channel from the top and assumes the topmost position, thereby pushing all other potassium ions one position down so that the bottommost gets ejected?

    Thank you for the great content you provided for us! I thought about independency of ion channels and tried to make analogy to the circuit diagram. In the circuit diagram, changing value of voltage source (assume that Ek) will directly affect amount of flowing current at each branch. This independency may only valid under some constraints we need to point out.

    The whole playlist looks amazing, but gosh, this math filled lecture is boring and impossible to understand to people who don't have their brains hardwired for maths! If what is discussed here is not used in the future lectures, what's the point of all these formulas? I literally started having headache, trying to follow the words.
