- This video is an overview of historical and modern methods to record from---and stimulate---neurons using electricity and electronics.
Methods covered in the video include intracellular recordings (patch clamping), extracellular recording with sharp electrodes, and multi-electrode arrays. We explain the basics of spike sorting and summarizing the activity of neurons with raster plots.
Beyond recording, we can use the same technology to inject current into the brain and stimulate neurons!

Ty for your videos!
Excellent
Congratulations ❤
This was actually so helpful, huge thanks!!
I love you professor bing
It's a very informative video. could you please make a video on data recording and processing and what kind of analysis we can do with extracellular data?
Another excellent lecture. My comment: all this technology is indeed super cool. But we need to be critical about the potential uses. Because as we know, all science plus no philosophy equals
humans doing terrible things.

Professor Bing, I really wish you were my professor. Thanks for the videos and maybe you could make one on the retina and central visual pathway? 🥹🥹
Thanks for the kind words :-) There is a video on the visual system! And other sensory and motor systems too. Go to the playlist linked in the description for the full video list, and scroll down to the ones that aren't published yet.
@@bingsbrain Oh wow!!! I can see them, and don’t know how I missed them in the first place! Best day ever💖 thank you again!
