- Ambassador FU Cong of China said that Palestine should have the same status as Israel and that Palestinian people should enjoy the same rights as Israeli people.
“It is the common responsibility of the international community to support and advance the process of Palestinian independent Statehood, and provide strong support for the implementation of the two-State solution and a lasting peace in the Middle East,” he said.
He further noted that on the Palestinian-Israeli issue, the United States repeatedly used its veto “in an unjustified attempt” to obstruct the international community’s efforts to correct the “historical injustice long visited on Palestine”.
“It is not commensurate with the role of a responsible major country,” he said.
He also recalled the overwhelming support for the General Assembly resolution, adopted earlier in the day, reaffirming the right of Palestinian people to self-determination and recommending that the Security Council reconsider favourably its application to join the United Nations.
“China welcomes this historic resolution, which reflects the will of the international community,” Ambassador Fu said.
“We believe that the special modalities adopted within the limits permitted by the UN Charter will enable the international community to listen more adequately to the voice of Palestine and help it to talk and negotiate with Israel on a more equal footing.”

Someone doesn't know how the UNSC works :P The UN isn't really democratic as the only part that is actually democratic are general votes which are all non-binding. The only resolutions that are legally binding are the ones at the UNSC which is a small group of powerful nations. Each with veto power. China and Russia use their's liberally as well. China is *NEVER* benevolent in foreign policy. They see an opportunity to weaken the US position (to be fair, the position is untenable) in the region and create a small, desperate nation that China can economically dominate. This is not *for* Palestine. This is *for* China. Never mistake that.

While China does oppose Uyghur independence, China DOES favor a 'One-state solution' for the minority Muslim population residing within China. The oppressive laws enacted by the CCP that applies to the Uyghur Muslims, also equally apply to the majority Han Chinese population.
Israel too has a choice. If it opposes a 2-state solution, then it must adopt a One-state solution.

As the very concept of permanent membership and veto rights in the UNSC is undemocratic, at the very least, the veto should be revised:
I’d propose that a veto must be seconded, followed by a mandatory debate, and mandatory veto override vote that passes if all other members unanimously vote to override.
That would restore a lot of my faith in the fairness and legitimacy of the UNSC.
There must be a way to work around the veto. The world will not stop circling the sun because of veto. There must be a next step of election after US vetoing the resolution.
