I wonder how they are going to co-exist with tomorrow's India when India's economic size reached 70% of US GDP. technically advanced India is inevitable. I really doubt that the freedem and democracy can protect India from being targeted by the US when it comes to global hegemony competition. Indian companies won't be able to compete with US tech giants in a playground that is govened by a fair set of international rules. One thing that India is different from China is that India is more or less like Israel. they export not only engineers to US, but also CEOs. they are part of US capitalists which able to influence the US policy.

In the specific case of uplink and tracking, US has used it's dominance of online services and other satellite networks to track user locations, while keeping the broadcast only nature of GPS NAVSTAR .
Just like this video is saying, it's a wake-up call for China when they lost their missile, the American must have interfered with the GPS navigation system ...
It’s a very clear sign that China technology are overtaking USA and USA had no way to compete at al. My advise to American, live with it and get use to it.

US uses GPS as a tool. During India Pakistan Kargil war of 1999 USA refused Indian Army access to GPS. This made even Indians realized that they should have their own GPS. Thus they have launched NAVIC using 8 satellites which covers India and 1500 KM around it
When a Chinese ship in the Indian Ocean refused inspection by US Navy, the GPS was turned off on the Chinese ship. It took the ship 4 additional days to reset its location. The Chinese gave $200 million to participate on the European Galileo, but was kicked out. Thus, the Chinese developed her own system. However, the commentators completely avoided mentioning the unethical actions of the West.
That is not possible. GPS is a one way signal and is broadcast to everyone in view. You cannot turn it off for a single receiver. And the EU Galileo network is a civilian network, not intended to be used for military purposes. I also don't think that China wants to shift dependence from the US to the EU, but wants to be independent for such critical infrastructure.
@@Hans-gb4mv Selective Availability (SA) was a deliberate degradation of GPS accuracy that the U.S. government used to impose on civilian signals until it was turned off in 2000. The purpose of SA was to maintain a technological advantage for the U.S. military and protect against potential adversaries using GPS for precision-guided weapons. Since 2000, the civilian GPS signals have been provided with high accuracy (approximately 3-5 meters) worldwide.
It's not about undermining the USA; they simply desire autonomy instead of being an usa puppet compared to the EU, which is heavily influenced by the USA through its reliance on American GPS, internet, military, and other resources.
@@marcussver620 euhm ... no. Galileo offers higher accuracy than GPS for civilian receivers and is used in many applications, including aviation and I do not doubt that it is even used in many military applications despite it being built as a pure civilian platform. Because why rely on the systems of a nation that depending on the day could be hostile towards Europe? There's a reason the USA gave itself the right to shoot down Galileo sattelites in case of a conflict, because they don't want a competing GNSS solution that they do not control.
They had been talking for so long, but not a single word was mentioned about China's Yinhe incident. This incident made the Chinese realize that they must have their own global positioning system, otherwise the Americans will threaten them with GPS at any time. Story time: in the Gulf war, when the US invaded Iraq for the first time, the US arbitrarily determined that two ships in the gulf were carrying weapons for the Iraqis, and so those ship's GPS systems were turned off... effectively disabling their navigation systems and stranding the ships and their crews in the middle of nowhere. When US forces finally got around to finding the boats, weeks later, they realized those were fishermen, who barely avoided starving to death. Do you think a foreign power, ANY foreign power, would want the US to have the power to shutdown all of their navigation systems at the same time? Please stop with the incendiary reporting. Building a separate system is not insidious. It's insurance for when the US turns on the Chinese.
USA politicians always classify anything from china as surveillance and privacy and blah blah blah. People have a right to privacy in most democratic countries but that doesnt mean they do have any privacy. In my opinion if connecting to it means i can get help like SAR when i need it then i am okay
Problem with that story is that you can't just turn off GPS for one ship. You'll be turning it off for all civilian applications in the wider area. So I have to call BS on that story. And it goes even further. According to official communication, the latest generation of GPS satellites no longer holds the capability to reduce the accuracy for civilian receivers. The one thing that makes me doubt that part as well is the fact that Obama signed a law that allows the US to destroy the European Galileo network because the EU would not offer the US any option to disable the Galileo network in a conflict region if required while offering higher accuracy to civilian receivers than what GPS has to offer. Furthermore, one of the statements in the video, namely that only the American GPS is used in aviation is also false as multiple manufacturers offer the ability to also pick up the Galileo constellation.
@@Hans-gb4mv Disabling GPS for one ship: It is true that turning off GPS for a single ship is not feasible without affecting other civilian applications in the surrounding area. GPS signals are broadcast from satellites and are available for civilian use worldwide. While it is possible to selectively deny access to GPS signals in specific regions, doing so would impact all users within that area. Latest generation of GPS satellites: As of my last update in September 2021, there was no official communication suggesting that the latest generation of GPS satellites could no longer reduce accuracy for civilian receivers. However, satellite technology and policies may have evolved since then, so it's essential to refer to up-to-date sources for the latest information. Obama signing a law to destroy the Galileo network: I'm not aware of any such law signed by Obama or any other U.S. president. The Galileo network is the European Union's global navigation satellite system, and its operations have not been targeted for destruction by the U.S. Multiple manufacturers offering Galileo constellation support: It is accurate that multiple manufacturers offer devices that can pick up signals from both the American GPS and the European Galileo constellation. Many modern receivers are designed to be multi-constellation compatible, utilizing signals from different satellite systems to improve accuracy and availability. It's important to verify information from credible and up-to-date sources, as misunderstandings or misinformation can spread easily, especially on social media. If you have any specific questions or need further information on a particular topic, feel free to ask.
China was turned away from iss because us decided not to let China into iss. Europe had also rejected China, after us interfered. Wolf amendment is introduced in 2011, to ensure no China involvement in iss😂😂😂😂
Remember, when the US shut off military-based GPS service to China in the 1990s, China's missiles were inaccurate, which is unacceptable to any country. The result is that each country must independently develop its own weapon systems, including navigation systems, if it wants to defend its national security.
Of course a US media outlet will not talk about the US's bullying and bad actions. China started to work on their own navigation system after the Yinhe incident in 1993. The producer and the editor of course omitted that and just talked about the missiles over the Taiwan straight.
I don’t understand how the Chinese navigation system is challenging to the United States. Can’t the Chinese have their own? Are they allowed to have their own navigation system? Or do they have to ask the United States permission to have it?
Because the United States wants to maintain its position as the sole superpower in the post-Cold War world and aims to have the entire world follow its leadership and adhere to its arrangements.

Man you wumaos are dmub as Xitler himself, you didn't even watch the video, GPS is incapable of tracking people while the Chinese Beido is built to track anyone.
that's not how GPS works. At their most fundamental, GPS satellites are simply beacons that continuously broadcast their positions in very precise terms. Your phone simply (very carefully) observes the tiny speed-of-light time differences that the broadcasts take to reach your phone, to triangulate your position. They only transmit, they never receive anything from your phone. This is mostly true for Beidou satellites as well, except for that "two way" feature they talk about. But the satellites aren't big or numerous enough to ever remotely get close to knowing where "everyone is at all times".
Isn't it the US, who just disable GPS when it is used against their interests? That is the main reason why even the Europeans, who are not hostile against the US, wanted their own system. Even today the US restrict the accuracy of the system for civilian uses. The denser a city is, the less accurate it gets. In Manhattan GPS is pretty much unusable. So it needs huge upgrades. We also need more indoor antennas to make it work inside buildings. That is very important if you use it for navigation inside a shopping mall or a subway station.

The video is full of ideological issues, and the footage related to China is filled with soldiers and police. In reality, you don't often see this in China.
The US is the only recognized superpower and the richest country. Why do they always see the world or other nations from a confrontative and threat perspective? They should encourage all nations to work together for the benefits of the human race. That is what the world leader should think and do, not overly selfish and always trying to dominate and invade other countries.
they are control freaks and must be on top in every important area of science, technology and military power to ensure total control....if there is any peer level competition then they sense a loss of control....total control is what they r used to....and consider any deviation as an existential threat....and they would rather have a loose loose strategy in order to preserve their full spectrum dominance.....it's a pathology...almost insane....it comes from too much power
They don't want to lose their hegemony or being the number one economic and sole military superpower. Anyone who is a rival or a potential rival must be stopped according to them. And right now, the threat to its hegemony is Russia with China as the biggest threat. Why do you think the US want o destroy Russia and trying its best to derail China's rise with all the sanctions and fomenting trouble in Hongkong, Xinjiand and Taiwan?
So, comparing Chinese and American politicians, Xi Jinping has stated the goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind, where nations respect each other's territorial integrity, refrain from aggression or interference in each other's internal affairs, promote equality and mutual benefit, and coexist peacefully. On the other hand, what about the United States? It launched the Iraq War under the pretext of a vial of laundry detergent and has initiated a trade war with China in response to China's growing strength.

@@unknowncomment85 well yeah from an American point of view. Yes. But other ppl in the world use it for free, in return US gains power over them because in theory they can encrypt the signal with some key, and all dependency systems without the new decryption key will just stop working. I am just trying to understand what's expensive here lol. With another gps system, ppl can actually use the other one. Then the us really lost the benefit they get from providing the service for free, which is for power. They gain less from china having a competitor system. So in theory, in the future they might actually start charging for the services, because they are not reaping as much benefit from before. So "in theory" the price could go up.

USA's hegemony based on colonisation, imperialism, sanctions, bullying and weaponisation of the dollar has a limited shelf life which is fast approaching the expiry date. It is what it is. Maybe if America cared about it's education system, then maybe we could wouldn't have this issue. Got countries with way less money, but more educated individuals.
This is fear-mongering at its worst. Law enforcement can and has tracked cell phones without the user's knowledge. Each time someone uses GPS, they must open an app. Therefore, the app's provider knows exactly where you are. But all you've got to do is turn off your phone's location function if that is a concern. Also, the report itself stated that the sole reason why China created its own GPS system is that it lost track of one of its missiles while using the US GPS system (likely due to jamming or denial of access, IMO). Therefore, making the US system unreliable not only for military applications, but it can also put China's own civil aviation and other means of transport in danger if an adversary were to jam or spoof it, which are the very same reasons the report stated about the US vulnerabilities.
We shouldn't talk about a "threat", it's just another network option. I use a Chinese GPS Navigator on my bike that can use the 4 networks, GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Beidou and with this the equipment synchronizes much faster, I have more precision and I never run out of signal even in the most remote places.
You can't do what I have been doing for years. That's the mentality of the colonists, and sadly it still exists today in the "democratic society". Don't forget that US turned off GPS, accusing China shipping US sanctioned materials to Iran and causing Chinese ships lost directions in the ocean for a long time (the forced inspection turned out to be nothing). If you were Chinese, you might have the motivation to do it yourself too (Yeah, the chips act will do the same thing).

For the general public: the Chinese versions of satellite maps and real-time navigation apps are just as advanced (if not more) than their Western counterparts.
China did not want to build Beidou. they join the EU Galileo program. however EU decide to nationalise the program and left China out so China has no choice but to develop their own. China has never wish to compete with the West, but the West always abandons China so China has no choice but to depend on itself. the move the West abandon China, the more capabilities China will have on its own. it time the West learn to reflect China as a peer and not think they can't have their own if they are abandoned.
@lagrangewei Blessing in disguise. Makes China stronger, smarter, far more resilient and increases their national pride and dedication tenfold. To be honest the West is very stupid. In China they had a willing customer and hence someone dependent on you who is not building up domestic know how because they are essentially your customer-positive sum game. Now you play hardball and force the Chinese to learn and innovate making them increasingly capable and determined. On top of that you give their government a massive gift. Xi Jinping carves out a narrative (which happens to be true) gives a massive nationalistic speech on how the West is bullying the Chinese like the Century of Humiliation and now you just gave them the impetus to mobilize their massive highly educated workforce to tackle the task at hand namely Beidou. FFS US- China is the One country that has the drive, intelligence, workforce, will and you just provided the last push necessary for them to go boss level berserk to put their collective minds and might to the technological challenges at hand. Awesome work USA+ you accomplished the EXACT opposite of what you wanted-a motivated peer competitor who can take the fight right back to you. Your thinking was they would acquiesce on bended knee. Well they bent their knee alright, right before they gave you a devastating counter punch to your thick head.
That's the truth that the West chooses to ignore in order to portray the "China threat". The fact that the West has not yet learned its lesson, and that the West will continue with its narrow-minded zero-sum mentality, will make China stronger, more resilient, more self-sufficient, and more competitive. This will leave the West with nothing to do but complain.
When it comes to satellite and most of modern tech. They are dual-use. Meaning they have both militarization and civilization characteristics. So calling something that has dual properties in use cases a “threat” is not wrong.

There's a reason the USA gave itself the right to shoot down Galileo sattelites in case of a conflict, because they don't want a competing GNSS solution that they do not control.

The result is that each country must independently develop its own weapon systems, including navigation systems, if it wants to defend its national security.

They explicitly explained in this video that GPS satellites are one way… The US gets literally no feedback from users and their locations…

The Chinese are very intelligent when it comes to STEM and what do you do? In a nutshell you threw a STEM type challenge at them which they happily accepted.
This is not a threat. It is called choice and competition.
Washington is afraid of competition and wants stagnant world.
if they win, they called it choice.. if they lose, then they called it threat..
Well if the Yankees are playing they said so. but China it's considered, "The Enemy" since when, I don't know.
When it comes to satellite and most of modern tech. They are dual-use. Meaning they have both militarization and civilization characteristics.
So calling something that has dual properties in use cases a “threat” is not wrong.

Nobody on the ship knows how to use check the stars or use a sextant for navigation?
Sure, I'd use any system available if the one I was relying upon was no longer reliable. I just thought that the crews of ocean-going ships would still fallback on old time-tested methods of navigation.

A thread to what? to whom? GPS is not a threat in that sense? This US exceptionalism is astounding. So other countries cannot and are not allowed to develop their own technologies? I am speechless.
You pulled that assumption out of thin air. Who said other countries cannot develop their own technologies? China obviously felt threatened enough by GPS to develop their own system, so why can the US not feel similarly threatened enough by China's system to update their own?
Russia has its GLONASS, EU has its Galileo. but they're not on the same level as GPS. BDS in some areas even surpassed GPS.

Just like America weaponize the space station and the dollar.
@@andrew6846 Wrong! Very wrong. China had to develop their own GPS because the US could shut them down in China anytime just as it excluded them from NASA. This feeling of being threatened is a one way street with the US being threatened of losing its hegemony. Do you ever hear China of announcing the US must be contained? have you heard of them going around the world warning them of the US? Never. It is the other way around with the US announcing to everybody that China must be contained that happened and is continuing to happen. It sanctioned and forced other nations microchip companies not to do business with China. The list is endless of the US very much panicking that China is going to pass them economically.
They can but that means we should help them make the US insecure. Global trade works if security is ok. And that has only work because the US was the only superpower. what do you expect from the US, a country of double standards
China’s initial investment of billions of dollars in the Galileo project aimed at collaboration, but the US influenced Europe to exclude China, prompting the development of China’s own navigation system. A similar trend unfolded with China’s space station. Despite facing sanctions, China’s determination led to notable advancements, strengthening the country in these domains. Now, a similar pattern is emerging in the Chinese chip industry, resembling the recurring narrative seen in the story of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.
I am sure our allegiance to the almighty US will totally pay of and be worth much more than getting on good grounds with the emerging super power and also strengthening our technological independence in the process. /s
