- The U.S. Air Force service member who was shot and killed by a Florida sheriff's deputy earlier this month was laid to rest Friday. The funeral for Senior Airman Roger Fortson happened at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest.

The Constitution of our country though grants that protection and is the highest law of the land which is why there is overwhelming criticism for the killing. There was nothing illegal in the Airman's actions.

They really can’t do anything it’s a civil matter not military and the cop is not a DOD service member so the military really can’t take action on him or investigate him. They spoke volumes by being at his funeral. It’s not everyday you see a full bird Col at his funeral giving a speech. It puts a lot of political pressure on the civil authorities to take action. No one’s turning a blind eye to this.

This is so sad. Justice needs to be served for the family. This is unacceptable, to be killed in your own home while on the phone. Not causing any issues. Did the officer hear any "domestic dispute" when he was knocking on the door? A good solider, taken. This is a lost to the entire USA.

They still won’t release the deputy’s name. Or his past use of force incidents? No initial 911 calls released. Or was there even a call made to cops?
Why didn’t the deputy wait for backup to arrive? Is that the department’s protocol?
And now they say the Deputy is on paid administrative leave. He probably is on vacation on an island or a resort somewhere smh

When you look at the video the Service Member at no time raised the weapon and had his other hand up as to say wait or stand down.

Airman murdered by a domestic terrorist laid to rest. The silence is deafening from all the so-called patriots who claim to love the people in the military. Maybe he is not their kind of military member that they love. I guess they will voice their pleasure when the Okaloosa Sheriff, and the FDLE complete their investigation and conclude that the Airman was responsible for his own murder.
