You clearly haven't watched the body cam video. It clearly shows the sister I lying in her accounts of what happened. The pee hole was never covered. The cop was at the apt he was told that there was domestic violence going on at and when the guy opened the door holding a gun, there was only one response the cop could do. Is this tragic, yes? But this isn't on the cop. The lady told him it was this apartment. And why is the guy that got shot answering the door with a gun during the day unless he was into something bad he shouldn't have been not saying he was but even when I answer a door at night to someone I don't know my gun isn't in hand or in site of the person when I open the door your just asking for trouble with gun in hand. I don't think the cop did anything wrong here he was just reacting to the info he was given.

Yes in the report it says he was at the right apartment # but I am sure you all saw the body cam video of the deputy and apartment office woman who was directing him. She said 4th floor. He visibly got off on 3. Acknowledge the discrepancy please.

It. WASN'T murder. The deputy had NO idea what the airmen intentions were when he opened the door with a gun in his hand. The deputy did what he was trained to do. Common sense would tell, ANYONE that when you KNOW. Cops are at your door. You do not! Answer the door with a gun in your hand. Common sense. You're going to get shot. Yes! Do I feel for the airmen family and friends. Of course. I do. He, and he alone made the choice to answer his door when he, knew it was a deputy at his door.

He was just 23 years old and had not lived to see all that life had to offer him. I am so sorry , Airman Fortson. You can be in your home doing nothing wrong and still get killed. On another note, his military family also came to pay their respects in a moving show of support.

I'm praying this was some kind of wag the dog situational and he and the officer are somewhere safe. I live in Okaloosa county we are a military community and we are all pissed I'm a veteran and I work for Okaloosa county and there's a lot of anger here I'm just glad that the Florida department of law enforcement is in charge of the investigation hopefully they'll bring in federal authority since he's military!!!

Absolutely 1000% true. I was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia and I talked to a SEAL from the Little Creek base said even they would have run ins with local cops becaude they always felt some type of way about Military.

PLT SGT always told us be very careful of the law enforcement off base. I was 3 weeks at the unit brand new PVT. The local police off base got a guy from our unit. Asian kid. Beat his ass for going 5 miles over the speed limit. Threw him (literally) in jail and called the chain of command to pick him up. Saw him Monday morning 1st formation. Dude had a black eye, bruises all over his face and broken ribs. To add insult to injury the unit decided to UCMJ his but. CO grade. Saw this poor guy on extra duty hunched over moping floors and cleaning the Battalion area. I'll never forget that one thing my PLT SGT told me. Stay on the straight and narrow. Be careful going off base both of the locals and law enforcement. And above all else the chain of command will not support you in anything. My intro to the Army.

Just perplexed, saddened, and frustrated that this happened. All I can say is RIP to both families , Senior Airman Roger's family, for losing their son and the deputy family for losing him while still alive, because the deputy will be eaten alive inside out
