I m Viji, daughter n law of MLV Amma..My sincere thanks for bringing this on her birthday . I remember her everyday ,recall her stay with us ,her warmth,her motherly affection, and her deep love as grandmother to my sons.

I still remember Dr. MLV Akka has taken me to Tirumala on the occasion of 1st Birthday of her grandson and the same day akka had performed concert. And we all had good Darsan through VIP kota Darshan of Lord Venkateswara. That time we all Sanker sir, Viji akka, child, and all orchestras all went for Darsan. All these memorable things I can't forget. Akka was so kind and without asking she gives. We can't see such people in our life. I never pass a single day without thinking MLV Akka. Growing up in Madras, my elders always talked about MLV's 'Katcheris'. She was also known through her light music songs in many Tamil films.
I would not say MLV was a 'much neglected genius'.......
No doubt she was a genius,but she was never neglected.She was prominent&busy,but had her worries owing to her daughter whose love marriage was a failure.
She was highly admired by the pundits of music and the casual listener. She was the youngest recipient of the Sangitha Kalanidhi. She was at the top and not neglected at all,but well recognised and respected.

Her music so deep and all pervading, always left an indelible impression in my mind much after the Concert was over. Such was her Music. A Musical Intellectual, an instinctive Genius. My aunt Vijaya was a disciple of mlv. Whenever I saw her she reminded me of mlv. MLV spent a large part of her last days at her house in Abiramapuram.

I love and cherish Smt. M.L.V's unique style, rare sweet voice and her racy gamakas with the-split -second-accuracy-of-a-trapeze-artist. He contribution to the promotion of bharatha nAtyam dance songs , the classical music in films and dAsar padams is without and anything equal or parallel!
