If you consider this was made by a ninth grader character with the resources of a public school from 1996 this is really impressive. The whole show is really sweet and light hearted and as someone who grew up watching shows from the 90's this actually feels like one instead shows and movies that just use 90's aesthetic. I don't get why it is getting so much hate. Plus Kate's gay arc is real well done.
Gay arc really well handled. But protagonist character seems like a cute small guy but, act like an adult. It's not suit for him. That's where I think it's gone wrong.

Insertname Here a lot of people did including me because it was only 10 episodes with 20 mins runtimes and the show got really great around episode 3/4

I binge watched it all last night too. It started out a little sophomoric but then progressed magnificently into a multi-layered study of what high school was for many of us in the 90's. Well done Netflix!

Finished season one a few hours ago. Really hope they make a season two to address what was left unanswered from the first season. Great show! Can't wait to see more from it in the future. Well done as always, Netflix.
