- With Murray Walker commentating, this vid was produced probably in the late 80's but his words are like he's talking for today's Formula 1, at least the latest iteration of the old Osterreichring is back on the calendar!
2:02 - 2:30. It still rings true today, arguably even more so than when this video was first made.
Wow. This looks very close to racing speed, from what I know. (Was in W. Glen S/F stands for Jochen Rindt's first GP win. About six weeks after Woodstock, man.)
Now this really is classic footage from a classic era at a classic track one word wow sums it up
Damals war es noch eine richtig tolle Rennstrecke.
Murray - preach it
1 question....why THE FUCK it got choped down WTFFFFF
From what I remember, it was called "Lap of the Gods" and I used to have a copy of it...Best on boards ever!
This isn't a car camera video. It's a Murray Walker politicking video lobbying for the return of this track hahaha and rightfully so
Nice,thanks for upload
Fastest track the F1 had. The speed during one Lap was crazy. They did 256 there. In Monza they ,,only" had 249...
kilometers per hour or miles?
@@timewarpeatscrayonsI assume km/h average speed over a lap.
Fastest speed trap of the era was Berger at Monza 86 in the BMW powered Benetton during I think qualifying. 356km/h or circa 220mph.
F1 needs a circuit like this badly.
if you like no overtaking then yeah
It was such a shame that this incredible track was dropped from the calendar along with Kyalami in the mid 1980's for kart tracks like Hungary and Jerez
Indeed, but still is something we'll see next year: turbocharged engines on an Austrian racing track ;)
respect
cool video
has it been confirmed yet? i thought mateschitz and bernie havent fully agreed yet?
This just shows how people always complain about new tracks.
Fastest track
Ah what racing today could be if the FIA didn’t have a love affair with oversized cars and Hermann Tilke.
such a shame this track was butchered like hockenheim
Agreed. The "A1" ring is an abomination. The legitimate issues with it could have been fixed and F1 returned... but no... Thanks for nothing Mateschitz....
@@tmb8807 : Good points, thanks. I guess there's always hope that one day some reasonable fascimile of the original will be used again... but in the Tilke era, I have my doubts.
Well, at least the 2019 race brought on some exciting results!
and like Interlagos
tb3420 probably dumb to say this but I hope they bring back the full Monza banked oval.
In online games I've driven the Red Bull Ring and I've driven the Österreichring. There is no comparison ... the old track is far better.
Red Bull Ring at least retains the same-ish shape which is more than we can say for a lot of Tilke-dromes. Its just in a shorter, much more tighter and IMO less enjoyable form.
2018 and it hasn't changed XD
ah Niki Lauda que j ai embrassé
1st lap of Donnington 1993. fact
Wonderful to see again. Now replaced with a laughable modern GP track. I raced there myself in Formula Ford as a local. Sad to see what is being sold as "F1" to naive fans those days. Not worth to watch on any level!
Can't agree more. I guess the world has changed.. Just glad I was around to watch during the last golden age of F1. As a teenager, I remember literally shivering with excitement complete with goosebumps on my arms in anticipation before the start of each race through the late 80's.. It will never be like that for me again.
@@zetecryt welcome to the club of real racers 💯👌💪
That layout reminds me of red bull ring
The Red Bull Ring IS the old Osterreichring, bastardized & sterilized.
@@tiadaid : Yes, the old 'ring with all the best bits cut out and the rest redesigned by an idiot... it's like the "Mustang II" of pony cars... a shameful abomination.
The track is roughly the same shape but half the size its a shame
@@ShmuelWeintraub 👍👍👍👍👍 Needed to reply to give more than one thumbs up!
