8:36 This is a painting called "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" painted by Caspar David Friedrich during the Romantic era. Then man in the painting wasn't actually in the mountains, the mountains were simply added afterwards. Painting people in nature, ruins and such things was typical of that time.
But the minecraft version is actually based on a painting simply called "Wanderer" by Kristoffer Zetterstrand. He experiments with historical paintings, 3d graphics and his own things.
And it was supposed to represent the Age of Enlightenment and its way of thinking (Philosophy, Sciences, etc.).
wasn't it something about the sublime?
It is also on a copy of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

9:00 They actually use this painting on the cover of Frankenstein. Frankenstein is a doctor who lives in the countryside and eventually makes the monster which he runs away from. The monster kills his younger brother and he goes out looking to kill his monster. That is the context of the picture as far as I know.
Its a romantic era painting meant to represent the transcendent frame of travel and feeling inferior and consumed by nature. Its in contrast to the classical style which focused on the supposed perfection of humanity. This kind of defies that by showing a normal looking person in normal, dark, boring clothing (for that time) contrasted with the light beauty and transcendence of nature. I studied the painting in a class btw, I'm not super knowledgable about art in general lol. I just find this painting and the romantic style pretty interesting.

@@Isabeltherat yeah, but that system is in place more to improve Google's AI in general for it's algorithm, not for you yourself. The like and dislike system doesn't actually affect that much what gets on trending, that is more so related to views and comments, so if you're worried about detrimenting a UA-camr by disliking, it does no such thing. The only exception is if dislikes are equal and/or are more than likes, but at that point there's probably good reason.

The painting is called "Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" (hiker above the foggy sea) and was actually not painted at that location since it doesnt even exist. Kasper David Friedrich (the painter) made up this whole landscape by taking remarkable views and mixing them together. So he was in his painting room imagining all that. The painting is at the art hall of Hamburg at the moment if anyone wants to look at it. ^^

Me personally would really enjoy a little slider to dim or button to turn it dark or light when loading up minecraft because whenever I load the game, my eyes form to be so dense it causes a singularity so like I'd enjoy a dark mode. Keep up the good work Jordan!
