Guys, even if you think you're bad at building, you should at least TRY to join this project. Even if you place just one block, one building, one tree, whatever, you would be a part of one of the biggest projects in minecraft, and probably one of the biggest projects in any video game! It's worth it.
“I am calling all skilled Minecrafters to pick a large city and build it” This is quite literally the first step to uploading our brains to a virtual world.
I don't think most people realize how important something like this is. Back in olden days, people used to remember trails and places; then cartography came along and we made maps; now the world is being built on a kids videogame. Imagine climbing Mt. Everest in Minecraft, building a house, and running out of diamonds with vanilla settings. Can only imagine the pain of having to go all the way down to y10 to get some.
What would be insane is semi-realistic ore generation. As in, "sorry bud, out of diamonds? Not gonna find many in Kansas. Have fun traveling to Aikhal Aikhal, the Russian diamond mine". Then you'd have to travel over 8 million blocks, but maybe you'd be greeted with either massive veins or just large quantities of normal-sized veins. Same deal with gold, coal, etc. You have to travel to large deposits around the world/continent.
Imagine playing with mods and running low on steel (they normally have them pretty fucking low) and you be like "how am i gonna make my steel -balls- armor"

The fact that there was a build the earth in MC project going on since 2014, they DIDNT use a template for the land, and they weren’t constantly like “this project is going to change the landscape of MC forever and will be a very important project in the history of MCs community and is the most innovative - *yap yap yap*”
3 years from now when this is finished,i will go back here and write: i was there when it was written

Imagine seeing your house, built in Minecraft 1:1.
By someone you don't know.
I wish everyone that'll work on this good luck
THAT WOULD BE EPICCCCC I CAN'T WAIT ALL OF A SUDDEN lol
They might not build your house as it is right now, but as it shows up in street view. That means your house might be gone because the street view for your particular street was done years ago. Some things will be left out.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Also wouldn't the original house owner have to build it otherwise it would just be a hollow inside? IDK well see

Not only will this be a world record. It will also be extremely long, perhaps a decade or more project. Godspeed with you all. May your dream be complete.

I don’t think it’s going to happen with every actual place in the world for more reasons than I care to comprehend and explain, however, you can get all of the major cities and towns and such. So yea h lol, good luck
