Every note, every single musical phrase out of her mouth is a lesson in stunningly controlled, flawlessly sustained emotional connection to the depth of her music. I was never a fan of Ms Flack's later pop music, which generated a much lighter sound, too commerical for my taste, but her first 3 albums are masterpieces of a style that I've seen in only one other tremendously talented artist... the legendary Ms Nina Simone.
