Enjoy watching you are very creative and organized. Nice to have warm weather maybe it will start in Colorado soon. I have the same Dewalt cordless set. They were my birthday present for my 70th and this old lady loves them.
Enjoy watching you with projects. You are organized and creative. I received the same Dewalt cordless set for my 70th and the old lady loves them . Just finished making nest boxes for the pallet coop I made.
AL, if life happens, death happens. I really love those chicken tractors. We found out that nine chickens can give us all the eggs we need. I am not sure but we will try raising about 30 chickens for meat each month. You make building look so easy. Having the right tools seems to help. God bless America.
I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to make a chicken coop from pallets try coop magic tactic (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got cool success with it.
Good video Al. I am interested in hearing tomorrows talk on why you are switching from the walk in tractor. to the shorter tractors. Good job with getting this one done.
Your chookies are growing so fast. The coops are so simple but really practical. Pity about the chick you lost but thats the way it goes sometimes. Have a great weekend ☺
They are a pretty nice coop and for the small operation seem to work out well. Easy to build and easy to move. Just need twice as many as the bigger tractor is larger. You could build them in the outdoor kitchen off season as well.
Morning Al Gina and Olivia welcome to the weekend and i hope you all have a wonderful one and you to Mr. Biggs I hear yeah. Continue to enjoy you're videos and the channel tremendously, another enjoyable Friday update around the 🏡 homestead. The chickens are beautiful and growing nicely great job with everything and everyone around the 🏡 homestead, it's always a pleasure being here and always looking forward to seeing more of your videos friendless friends. God bless bye. 🔨🔧🚜🚙🔩Great job with the 🐔 chicken tractor great finish as usual. 🐓🐓🐓🐔🐔🐔🐣🐣🐣🐷🐈🐕
Shame about the dead chick but as one of your other subscribers reminded me on their channel once, it's a reality of having livestock that it occasionally also means having 'deadstock'. You certainly know how to turn out a chicken tractor in record time and the two extra bits of wood, sans hardware cloth, will only make it stronger! I can also attribute your persistent use of DeWalt power tools in these sorts of videos to me ordering a set this week... :)
Pluto must be enjoying running out and not having knee deep snow to slog through. Poor dead chicky. See what happens when you don't have Mr Figaro guarding them, none were lost on his watch.
Oddly enough, we have a cat that guards our chickens, too. The one time we locked him up, a neighbor dog attacked our flock. Good ole OB the cat is our chicken wrangler.
I built mine. I made it slightly larger then your design. It's made with rough cut 1x6 lumber and it's 10x10. I had to put it on wheels because it's a tank!! haha I may have overkilled it but I plan on putting 50 meat birds in it. It also opens from both ends. Right now it's a pen for my 2- two week old geese to play outside in safety. I probably have to wait a few more days to put the meat birds in it. They nights still get pretty chilly here.
Those chicks in the coop are getting huge. And the ones in New Yolk city seem to be doing well other than them trampling one of their own. Yeah I would have wanted to get it done too with being so close.
Great job sticking it out in the rain! Can’t quit when you’re almost done. 😊 We would like to raise egg layers for sure and maybe some meat birds. With your $30 chicken tractor what do you do for the egg layers when they get big enough and start laying? We don’t have any chickens of our own yet but can’t wait to raise some!! I want to have the benefits for our chickens out on pasture but I don’t know how that works with nest boxes? Can you offer any of your expertise? Thank you Al for your videos!
I have a question about the turbo feeder. I’ve seen the chicks on the top sitting right in the food. Also noticed droppings on top when you added more food to the feeder. Is that ok? Healthy for the birds? Are you finding it an issue at all? I just wondered cause it appears they would be eating their own dropping’s as the food level drops as it’s designed to do. Just curious. Not being critical, AT ALL! I just want to understand. Thank you so much for helping. I am always grateful for any help provided. I just want to do it right when I finally get started. God willing just a very short time too! God Bless ~Lisa
Lumnah Acres Thank You for answering me Al. So many channels I’ve tried to nicely ask questions on get up tight and snippy like ppl are being rude asking. I took a chance, having been coming to visit you daily, you would KNOW I wasn’t being a jerk. I’m so nervous I’ll do something wrong and kill a bird and honestly waste money I don’t have to waste. I just really want to do the best I can. I know in spite of our best efforts we will have loss but IF I can START right I’ll STAY right. My only avenue for advice is UA-cam. So again, thank you!!!! God Bless you and the family ~Lisa
Just a little info. In a healthy flock, Chickens, being omnivores, have powerful digestive tracts and have no issues managing any bacteria in a little poop. Chickens will eat just about anything including dead animals having meat loaded with bacteria that would put you or me in the hospital. Chickens are also more than happy to pick maggots and grass seed out of piles of cow or horse manure loaded with bacteria. Granted, keeping feed free of feces is a good idea but there's very little risk to the birds they eat a little contaminated food...JJ
Oh I think the only dead animals I find are dead mice - overstatement, there was one dead in the garage when I did a little cleanup, none in the traps in the basement this year. You are building without your main star? I just love that truck bed workshop, just for that I should have a truck!
Could you place something in the corners so they can't all bunch so much in the corners? My brother and I have had some results doing that. Seems there are always some that get trampled or have other issues part of homesteading.
At 4:50 what is that running around behind you Al? Is it a couple of deer? Its above where you are working where the trees meet the grassy area. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
Malcolm Cheyne No, I mean what I say, and say what I mean. And I don't understand what you mean to say, and truthfylly I don't even care when you try to put words in my mouth.
Too bad about the chick, but the rest of the chickens are doing well! The coop Master is working again! Where is Figaro, he isn't there to watch his friends, the chicks? I am thinking soon your whole yard will be chicken tractors. So then Figaro can make sure they are ok and keep the mice out of the tractors. Pluto will help. It's rainy here too. Here is your sun:🌞☀🌞☀🌞☀🌞☀🌞☀
I can believe that the wire and staples only cost 30 bucks, but where would you get wood AND the other materials for that price? Or do you have a sawmill?
Thanks again for Highlighting my comment! Also l love seeing Figaro and thanks for showing him. My OGB, a feral male l was feeding hasn't been back since Saturday. I hope he comes back. My daughter says he had a fight with a skunk, and took off. Male cats have a mind of their own, maybe he found another home with his girlfriend, or someone took him in. Figero wouldn't do that!🍀🍀🍀🍀🌹🌹🌹🍀🍀🍀🍀
Love these coops. Thinking of building one for to raise some meet birds in my urban yard this spring. I do have a couple questions, can your daughter move one by herself? Also, would there be a way to get a slight pitch on the top to shed water off the tarps? Or has it really not caught much standing water?
@8:21 Did you say put the tarp or top on? ;-p just kidding x-D. Love your channel! I started following Wranglerstar about 6 mo. ago, then found the Rhodes family and now your family. Can't wait for you to get the goats :-)
Next time put that chicken wire on top then put the hardware cloth over it around the outside. That will hold it better and stop the little edges from being loose & sharp. I don't understand how you can make the tractor with only 2 of those fence pickets ... it looks like you have about 12 or 14 in your truck for that that coop, 8 for the sides, 1 on the bottom, 1 across the middle top and about 4 for the top door. I couldn't find those boards with the dog ears so I ended up having to buy almost $40 worth of boards just for the 8 side pieces. Now I also have to buy the top, skid & spindle pieces. Your list looks wrong it says 2 Materials List: 2~ 6-foot green treated dog ear fence pickets 72”x5.5”x5/8”.
Thanks that is not the same instructions that I found on your website. I guess I found the wrong ones www.lumnahacres.com/2017/10/09/diy-hacks-for-your-chicken-coop/
That does suck about that chick. I remember when I had a few die and was like WTH?! Never again from my pet chicken (what a joke!) The $30 dollar coop might be good if you are in really good health but when you have arthritis and a bad back...I'll have to pass. Besides, I like going into an upright coop so I can hang out w/ my chickens just like we do the goats. We frequently get winds running in to 40-60+ mph in the HD. A well grounded coop works for us. My only lament is the chickens have to stay in it 24/7 cause we have everything trying to kill them out there. :p
I understand that both you and your wife work full time. So tell me the secret, How do you do it all> It has been very hard for us with both having a job. We leave behind so much undone. How do you find the time for everything?
I really appreciate all your time and effort to put these DIY’s.. It really helps the steaders who don’t have natural building skillz

Another great job! The chicken tractor fleet is growing! Have a Blessed day and Weekend
I'm glad the weather is warming up....You've had a long cold winter...Things will just be heating up smartly from now on...Very cool camera All!
Go Olivia! Good skills with the power tools !
Good video Al. I am interested in hearing tomorrows talk on why you are switching from the walk in tractor. to the shorter tractors. Good job with getting this one done.
An ideal hinge material is old seat belts. They last forever and don't get stiff in the cold.
Your chookies are growing so fast. The coops are so simple but really practical. Pity about the chick you lost but thats the way it goes sometimes. Have a great weekend ☺
They sure are growing! Nice for them to have another shelter
Good day to you Al, Gina & Olivia !! 👍👍😁😁 Thanks for sharing your homestead update and your day to day stories with us all today 😁😁👍👍

Thank you sooo much truly inspired me and gave me the courage to tackle it all by myself. I’ll send photo~~I made my own adjustments.
They are all growing so well. 👏🏻 Thankss for the cut list
Neat to watch those being built. Thanks.
I can't wait till I start raising animals thank you for your videos..✌🏿✌🏿✌🏿

So beautiful my fend and Great nice
If its not snowing its raining. What lovely weather.ugh
Goooood Mawnin' Al! No glue!
Great video and Great job..
Great video. Are a bit behind on your videos. Trying to catch up tonight. Greetings from Andreas on Off Grid Sweden
I like longer videos from y'all.
Like we used to say in the Army, "if it ain't raining it ain't training".

i bet you are going to love the #Dewalt Tools
Poor baby chick.... so many homesteaders seem to be losing chicks this year.. one as many as 15...
🌻🌻Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend🌻🌻

New yolk city! Lol
Wish I had your abilities!!! Always so interesting :)
Liking the new music ... !!!
Those chicks in the coop are getting huge. And the ones in New Yolk city seem to be doing well other than them trampling one of their own. Yeah I would have wanted to get it done too with being so close.
you should do a project to make a round chicken brooder for baby chicks you want loose them to packing up, then later put them in NYC
Would be nice to build a porch and harage for the two cats. A barbeque stove a d picnic table to fit too
Where can I find a material list for the items used for the coop?
Probably to hot in new yolk city if it is 80 degrees outside
Great job sticking it out in the rain! Can’t quit when you’re almost done. 😊

I hate it when we cant figure out a death. Its sad but your right. It happens.
Hey you can use your old tall chicken coops as green houses?
what are you using for the hinges?
I actually am using a bungee chord for the top lock.
What’s the dimensions of this chicken tractor? Do you a purchase list? Thank you for your help.

I need to get a 5-gallon bucket lid to set on top of the turbo feeder.

AL IAM COME AND HELP YOU ALL THE WAY FROM AUSTRALIA LOL
The 70D has nicer colors. Thank you Al!
I’m sure you’ve said but I can’t remember- will the layer pullets be free rangers once they’re older/bigger?
AL IF YOU MAKE THOSE CHICKEN COOPS YOU COULD SELL THEM AND MAKE A PROFFET FROM THEM LOL
Do you give sand, crushed oyster shells or some kind of grit to your chicks which are inside? They do need it.
So my question is how do these chicken tractors defend against ground predators?
did you move away from using the hoop like tractors made with the hog panels. If so, why?
Oh I think the only dead animals I find are dead mice - overstatement, there was one dead in the garage when I did a little cleanup, none in the traps in the basement this year.
You are building without your main star? I just love that truck bed workshop, just for that I should have a truck!
How many chickens can fit in a coop?
Do you leave the chickens outside all night in the little runs?
Could you place something in the corners so they can't all bunch so much in the corners? My brother and I have had some results doing that. Seems there are always some that get trampled or have other issues part of homesteading.

If it helps, I had a look at it on 1/4 speed and it appeared to be some of the chickens wandering around sort of midfield in the shot?
I think it was some of the chickens that are wandering around free-range right now. I had to take a second look, too!
Looks like the manureload on the grass are little heavy from the chickentractor?
All the brown you are seeing that is bear dirt. The grass hasnt come up enough for the chicks not to dig it up
Malcolm Cheyne

How often do you move the chicken coops?
we move the tractors 1-2 a day
Al: You could convert those walk-in coups to Mini greenhouses or shelters for other livestock goats, sheep? the old guy Bert.
great minds think alike!
Great good job 👨👩👧👸👕👓🐔🐓🐥🐩🏡👍👍👍
Hi Al, I was wondering why you stopped using the chicken tractors that looked like little green houses?
I am going to talk about that in tomorrows video!
Do you guys have any issues with predators getting in the chicken tractors
No we haven't had any predators get in
I can believe that the wire and staples only cost 30 bucks, but where would you get wood AND the other materials for that price? Or do you have a sawmill?
We have a link in the video description showing where to buy the materials

Колеса ещё приделать с другого конца ящика и классно получится, чтоб его не возить.
How do you deal with foxes, skunks and other bothersome critters with your $30.00 chicken coops.
I just noticed that your chicken tractors don’t have roosts. Why is that?
@8:21 Did you say put the tarp or top on? ;-p just kidding x-D. Love your channel! I started following Wranglerstar about 6 mo. ago, then found the Rhodes family and now your family. Can't wait for you to get the goats :-)

Your chickens will lay eggs like that ?
Does your camera number your videos? that what you need to do👍🇺🇸
Hey man, I like that sheep hat you got on. Where did you get that at?
Its in our Amazon shop www.amazon.com/shop/lumnahacres

When we arent working we are home. And we are working towards one of us working from home full time
how is it a $30 chicken tractor if the wire alone can be over $40? Am I missing something here?
We can find the wire on sale for $10. I the prices broken down on our website. www.lumnahacres.com
$30 is the fence price
Damage summary from Canon: "After repeated repairs on this camera, we now suspect the damage is being cause by someone high fiving the equipment..."
Chick had a heart attack if one lays on his back from eating to much there like hogs growing to fast walk into a house with 52000
Grab a sony a7 and you won't have camera issues anymore.
Nice vid, but I really wouldn’t call that a coop, it’s more of a run.
You can’t even get a tarp and chicken wire for 30 bucks
Not anymore
IF YOU WOULD PUT WHEELS AT THE BACK OF YOUR CHICKEN TRACTOR, IT WOULD BE ESIER TO MOVE AROUND DON’T U THINK !
Chooks do die, my ducklings die. Its just what happens
Sometimes they just die.
I had 5 chicks about 8 weeks old and came in this morning to find one pecked to death 😰
Bye ~8^)
why do you let your dog just charge at the poor chickens?
