CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Spock's (Leonard Nimoy) memory returns after his resurection.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
When last we left the crew of the star ship Enterprise, they were heading home following a skirmish with the despotic Khan. The unpleasant incident had cost the life of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy)--or so it seemed. Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) is informed by Spock's father Sarek (Mark Lenard) that his son is being kept alive in the thoughts of one of the crew members. It now becomes necessary to search for Spock's body, so that flesh and soul can be rejoined on Vulcan. It turns out that Spock's spirit is residing within the mind of the Vulcan's longtime shipmate, "Bones" McCoy (DeForrest Kelley). Finding the body is another matter, since the Enterprise has been consigned to the trash heap and thus is out of Kirk's jurisdiction.

I don't think Spock ever really appreciates how much he's loved. This scene, man. Gets me every time
Considering it takes 4 movies and all of TOS for him to even speak to his father like a son, it is not a Vulcan thing.
Oh yes, Spock in his most beautiful aspect. (Nimoy looking so much like Mark Leonard in flashes they could pass for father and son in reality). It's 2021 and it still draws tears.
Ditto. Gets me every time. When Star Trek was written for adults but available to everyone.
Okay here's to Kickers for you folks his hand gesture is from the church his real parents in real life were from Ukraine God bless America and the world
Me too!
Love Shatner´s laugh when Nimoy raises his eyebrow like that.
Yeah, as always they both tell more with their expressions then their words :)
It's the laugh of a man who's happy he's got his friend, and someone he's long considered a brother, back.
This is one of the best scenes in this movie I think it's 2009 Star Trek has a decent cast but the script for the first two movies is a joke so this is why this Star Trek will Waze truly be the best because and attempted we make it in 2009 who ever attempted it failed to understand Gene roddenberry's concept behind Wagon Train To the Stars concept
Kirk: “I lost a brother once…I’m glad I got him back”
'Jim... Your name is Jim'. Just seeing those words written down brings a manly tear to my eye.
"You have been my friend, you came back for me..." Gets me every time. LOL
Ah, hell, it gets me, too. When I saw this in the theater, I actually teared-up when Spock said, "Jim -- your name is Jim." Still makes me verklempt.
yes gets me too everytime I see this film....its a little hard to belive LM is gone....
This line I imagined my father saying to me after going back to the morgue to pray for his resurrection. But it was just a fantasy. I had too much ptsd from witnessing his death to try.
@@germanicelt I am sorry...I hope you have found peace now.
@@sakzaan Thank you, but I'll only find it when those euthanizing doctors get what they deserve.
I love that raised eyebrow of his. It can say so much when words fail him.
Spock: Jim...your name, is Jim.
Kirk: Yes.
Some of the best final movie lines ever.
Jim : You saved the ship. Don't you remember ?
Spock : The hell I can't ( Star Trek IV reference ).
@@danielappleton153 Kirk: "Spock, where's the power you promised me?" Spock: "One damn minute, Admiral!"
@@davidharrison7014 - " 'Double dumbass on you,' and so forth."
RIP Leonard...thanks for all the memories over the years
God Rest Your Soul, Mr. Nimoy!
That eyebrow raise at the end. Love it.
McCoy smiles, taps his temple, etc. He & Spock had a mutual respect even though they could disagree vehemently.
Got my parents to buy me this film on video when I was about 10 years old simply because I saw Christopher Lloyd's name on the box and I loved him from Back to the Future. I knew next to nothing about Star Trek at the time. This film was the introduction to it all and I fell in love with it so much I eventually had to get all the other Star Trek movies then all the episodes of the original series. This film was the genesis of my subsequent 20 year love affair with the 'original' Star Trek. This scene encapsulates what was great about it for me; the characters, the love they had for each other, the mystery and brilliance of Mr Spock. Watching this film, ending with this scene, countless times was just the beginning for me. Just thought I'd share that.
Star Trek 4 was my introduction to the franchise, even though I saw the first movie when it came out when i was small. This scene inspired me to want to go down to the morgue 20 months ago, to pray for my Dad to be resurrected. But because of the ptsd I had from being with him when he passed, I just kept putting it off until it was too late to try. The thought of it all just stirred up the memory of this part of Star Trek 3.
I love the bit at the end where the rest of the crew rushes Spock and fusses over him. He clearly wasn't used to that sort of attention, but he went with it. I'm not sure what Sulu said at 1:59, but I love how Uhura pats his shirt a bit. Amanda and Sarek just hang out in the background. They knew they'd get their chance to reunite with Spock after the rest of the crew fussed over him a bit.
Robin was a much better Savik than Kirstie.
@@dougball328, agreed.
I watched 2 and 3 last night in remembrance of Nimoy...the above scene is particularly tough to watch now because now we know he's not coming back to his friends anymore like above...I started crying seeing this part...cannot believe he is gone for real now...
Nor I Dawn :-(
In the words of Doctor McCoy, "He isn't really dead. So long as we remember him."
porpus99 RIP Leonard Nimoy...thank you..............!!!
yea I guess it would be hard to watch,if you have been a fan of LN,you will be ok Dawn W.LN will live in his movies and TV..long as we remember him..RIP Mr Spock..
+Dawn Welch Leonard will be back Dawn. Technology is moving towards a time when we will be able to bring back loved ones or time travel, either way, by now you have read this message more than once.
"jim..your name is jim " that part gives me the biggest lump in my throat then.....my eyes well up like a baby .
Same here....lol.
nimoys acting was above par.... the innocent and concerned look of worry on his face wondering if "JiM" was the correct answer.... absolutely great acting
Best friends bond can never be broken 💔. Two friends that need each other. No other movie can have a main character die and be reborn like Star Trek. I teared seeing this two friends reunited
When anyone ever mocks Shatner with that stupid impression of Kirk. I come back and watch the pure emotion of the man. I love this scene so much
Let alone his reaction to his son's death before setting the trap (via the self-destruct) for the Klingon boarding party.
Mock Shatner ? A great man of our times . Happy 90th birthday Captain . 🖖
Star Trek III is definitely Shatner’s best performance.
He’s a very powerful emoter. Which is a kind of double edge sword sometimes.
People are always doing impressions of actors' portrayals of their most famous roles whether it's Connery as Bond, Brando as Don Corleone, Bogart as Rick in Casablanca, etc.
So it will always be with Shatner as James T. Kirk.
The ship? Out of danger?
I blew it up.
YOU MANIAC! DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!
O.O that escalated quickly...
It was always Spock's resurrection, not his death, that brought me to tears. This scene encapsulates the heart and soul of Star Trek.
This scene is so beautifully done...wow, 35 years later and still makes me cry! That last shot is how I will always remember this cast.
Bones,Jim and spock have the most gorgeous smile ever!
the best bromance ever!
Brotherhood. Kirk never had a brother until Spock and Bones. Family is special.
@@hamhockbeanswell Kirk had sam, so your half wrong
"You said my name before you remembered your own"...Beautiful
Oh my heart... Kirk looks at Spock with so much love... and you can see Spock tearing up just a tiny bit too when he remembers
*flails, melts in a puddle on the floor*
The needs of one outweigh the needs of the many. Having retired from the US Navy and always believed others before self, this line makes me tear up. The love and friendship between those who serve is not often spoken to. Say what yo will, one of the best lines to be spoken. Then Spock tries to contemplate it with his logic.
If you believe others before self, why were you a paid murderer for Satan's navy? Thou shalt not murder. Repent of your sins.
McCoy's little tap had me laughing, and Spock had me crying with "Jim"
I love how the crew is happy yo see spock again especially Kirk and bones,
I know we are on Vulcan but please just hug each other!
This brings a tear to my eye. We lost 5 of them now, RIP Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry , and of course the man himself.
The reason we have this fantastic world. Gene Roddenberry. I'll see you all when I beam up.
And now we have lost Nichelle Nichols too.
@@TeraZilla5 The actors and actresses I have liked and even cared about since my youth are nearly all gone now.
I have nothing to look forward too.

And now, Nichelle Nichols aka Lt. Uhuru.
This is one of my favorite scenes in all of the ST movies.
“The ship, out of danger?”
“Not exactly”
Sarek would never admit to being proud, but you know he is.
Live long and prosper on the eternity Mr Nimoy!!
RIP leonard nimoy you will never be forgotten!!!!!
Yep. I still tear up. Great scene. Thank you for posting. Blessings on you and yours and all who read this. Live long and prosper!
This time... his katra can't be saved...
... But we wish it could be...
What if he joined with someone else? ;-)
themodette... It did work with Surak...
Many of us wish all could be brought back to life.
His Katra is in each and every one of us . 🖖
These storys were so well done!!
Spock showed the greatest act of love( He gave his life for his friends: Star trek 2 Wrath of Khan) Now he has been resurrected in part 3 through the genesis project. This amazes me how they mirrored spocks sacrifice or death and ressurection after christs. Best moment in the movie but too short. Like how he did the eyebrow thing that means spock is happy
Great cast , great idea , perfect execution ..... When Trek was as it should be ..... FUN
This part always brings a tear to my eye
Still a classic
I love these movies. This scene always leaves a lump in my throat. Especially knowing most of the crew are no longer with us.
A very sad day today. I wish I were Vulcan so that I would not feel the loss & sadness of the passing of Spock. Feb. 27, 2015. Live Long........ and prosper.
"why would you do this?"
Kirk: (thinking) BECAUSE I LOVE YOU! T^T
Because your my brother. Your family.
"I have been, and ever shall be, your friend," and "Ship? Out of danger?" Were both lines that he spoke AFTER he mind melded with McCoy in WOK. Interesting that he would be able to remember them in this scene. Anyway, this has probably already been pointed out and explained away a million times already - but it popped out at me almost immediately.
Let’s REMEMBER with out this HALL OF FAME CREW there is no future trek! 😎
Spock is so cute and sweet here. No memory makes him..... human.
The ship... out of danger?
Well kinda, you saved it but recently I had to blow it up. It's a long story...
I was thinking more along the lines of "Okay here's the thing". But your's works to.
Spock could be like "If I saved the ship, then why did we come to Vulcan on a Klingon ship?".
Would love too be in the room of him explaining that too spock
Spocks reply would be
Fascinating!!!
I grew up on Star Trek. It become my role model for real life. I hold its values highly. Extremely thankful that the actors recreated their roles to do these movies. Closure instead of lingering thoughts of "What became of them". If you respect Spock and any/all of the characters, the moral messages, you'll apply them to how you live. I do. The best way to honor them.🖖
The best end lines are here!!! I remembered then all the time & great acting, I loved Stark Trek!!! Since 1967. Greetings fr CA USA (RIP Mr. Spock.)
Great clip. The raised eyebrow at the end does me in. Vulcan have no emotions? Humbug, as Scrooge would say.
1:58 even Saavik is smiling.
We love you Leonard Nimoy. LLAP sir
"Because the needs of the one outweighed the needs of the many." ...... We will not abandon our brother....
Is that what that means ?
Wish we could have Leonard back... can we do a "Search for Leonard Nimoy" :(
And have the sequel be "Search for James Horner".
MAnuscript421 Followed by “Search for Deforest Kelley”
@@artloverivy followed by search for Jim doohan (hope I spelt it right)
Mr. Nether pretty sure it’s spelled right :)
gsimon123 ahaaaaahh😭
"The ship... out of danger?"
"You saved the ship. You saved us all. Don't you remember?"
"...the hell I can't."
Undoubetly the Empire Strikes Back of Star Trek films.
Spock: "The ship....out of danger"
Kirk: "Um....well, if you consider blown to smithereens out of danger, then yes!"
What a great series of movies Star Trek was
"please Captain, not in front of my Father." XD
Did you have to cut off that glorious Star Trek theme in mid-rift?! Ah that sounded so good...
They would have got in trouble for copyrights if you didn't is one of the rules on UA-cam sucks huh!
Admiral Morrow certainly didn't have the courage to come to Vulcan to see Captain Spock alive again after what Admiral Kirk and his Enterprise shipmates went through to save him from the Genesis Planet before it blew up because the Genesis experiment was a failure and also to apologize to Spock's parents for the injustice he did to Spock's friends when he refused to help Kirk save Spock in the first place.
This has been the message of all six films. Friend ship. This film showed this was more then a crew......but a family.
"And the adventure continues..."
Kirk‘s son,David, would‘ve liked to see Vulcan and seeing Spock & McCoy being themselves again after the katra ritual.
There never was a more glorious moment to a fan of Star Trek than this 🥲
Cool bathrobe, there, Spock.
Poignant scene. Especially now.
1:55 Half of everyone in this shot/scene, including the background, is gone. Some more accomplished actors than others. Some more loved than others.
BUT, in my humble opinion .... all of them legends.
Spock: Wait. Didn't you die.
Kirk: Well yes, its complicated.
Spock: Excuse me. My memories fuzzy.
McCoy: No the tribble that helped save Kirk was fuzzy. But we will talk about that later.
Spock: I thought I died.
Kirk: We will talk about it later!
A family once again reunited
...
...And the adventure continue s...
Beautiful bromance!!!
Classic Spock and Kirk raise the eyebrow awesome
The classic and the best Star Trek crew.
It's one of those statements that can only make sense in context; the 'needs of the one' thing seems nonsensical at first, but after everything that Spock did for them, none of his friends would abandon him even BEFORE they knew that he had come back to life...
If it were possible to bring back Leonard Nimoy and all the others that we've lost, every fan on Earth would volunteer. Myself included.
If I hadn't tried the cost would have been my soul
Star Trek III does not get the love it deserves. Sublime!
I am so thankful the actors repraised their roles all these years. I grew up with this show. Everyone knows I'm so intwined with it. I applied all the moralities presented and live by it. No, I don't go about in outfits, have fewer collectibles unfortunately, but the true value is not props, it's the messages conveyed in our way of life. It's struggles, disappointments, challenges and the successes. I know of no better way to honor all that made Star Trek, than to live by the meaning of it all. 🖖
They cut out "and the adventure continues" . Best part of the movie.
RIP--Mr Spock you lived long and Prospered ......AKA..LN...
Spock in his white robe is my favorite look for him.
The greatest ending in all Star Trek OG films.....The Adventure Continues....everything they went through for friendship. That gets me at the end of Part 3
A lot of emotions on show from our Vulcan friend in this scene.
Not my favourite Trek movie but this scene always gets me !
I really want to see these movies in the theatre again
Orpheus (Kirk) gets his Eurydice (Spock).
Damn it, I need a hug.
And the Oscar goes to... Leonard Nimoy's eyebrows!
And that's what being a BFF is all about.
Every time I watch this I can't help but well up...
This is the best orchestration of the original series theme. 1:50 onward.
Sad that William Shatner did not go to Leonard Nimoy's funeral...
Very sad. In Shatner's own words, “It was made clear to me that I was not welcome at his funeral. That was painful. I had an easy excuse. My closest friend was Leonard Nimoy. We were born four days apart and raised in Orthodox Jewish homes. We shared so much throughout our careers. I loved Leonard, and he used to refer to me as his brother. Yet at the end of his life and for reasons I still don’t know, he was not my friend. I would call him and he wouldn’t answer the phone or return any messages. He died and I didn’t feel welcome at his funeral.”
"The needs of the one, outweigh the needs of the many". Never a truer word spoken by every dictator in history. 😂
“What The Mind Forgets, inevitably, The Heart - For Ever - K.N.O.W.S.”
I wish Leonard nimoy would be alive
David Marcus,, the illegitimate son of Admiral Kirk, would've been glad to see Captain Spock back to himself again if he had survived the fight with a Klingon on the Genesis Planet. He would've liked to see Spock's home planet and meet Spock's parents.
RIP Leonard Nimoy
Is this even Star Trek? Where are the shaky cams, the flashy lights and effects, no explosions every 10 sec? There is only dialog and character development!
Anyone else notice Sulu immediately grabbing Spock's right breast, and then proceeds to leave his hand there for the remainder of the scene?
Spock has the Vulcan Nerve Pinch, Sulu has the Sulu Nipple Pinch.
George Takei is gay.
T T oh my.
I'm still like: nOW KIsS!!!!
If I ever need to check whether my tear ducts are still working this never fails . This is our folklore.
