Another way to roughen up the sticks would be to employ a wire brush. Those are fairly easily and somewhat inexpensively found at hardware stores. Wire brushes are good for roughing up many would pieces, not just logs. So even if you use the standard coffee stirers or craft sticks, they'll look more worn and beaten.
LOVE the "coward graffiti" 😆 The bridges are amazing! Also love that you only used basic tools and techniques. They turned out beautiful and with the barricades on only one side I thought it was so cool how you could put two bridges together to make an extra wide walkway. I've made some bridges myself out of bbq skewers, but I'm taking notes for the next ones I build
Great video! Definitely gave me a spark to try out some more elaborated walk way builds myself. Have you considered trying Ranges of shadow deep? Also a Mccullough game as Frostgrave. Would be great fun watching your fantastic battle report style with that game!!
Hey Niklas, thank you! RoS is on my list of games to try out. Whether I can get to it is a whole other matter, but if I start seeing more folks interested, I don't see why I couldn't give it a go!
I like the weathering that's done to the "logs" or cylindrical wood, but I'm curious how it would actually work, using such a long piece of straight circular wood to walk on. It seems like you could roll an ankle pretty easily, and I still want to keep on the side of flat planks to walk on, with maybe something supporting it on the underside, or maybe a vertical post at the end with string making a suspension bridge element? I still like planks though, as it seems better to actually walk on. Seems you could add posts to them though and walls like you've mentioned. I'm not sure about adding the shields and such. It seems like something added just for the heck of it, like in Applebee's before they took all that kitsch down. Not a bad inclusion though, just not my style. I discovered actual craft sticks from Walmart ( I think) and they were so much easier to cut than popsicle sticks, it was amazing the difference. Then marking them up with a knife and cutting grooves into them, similar to what you're doing with the knife.
Using dowels instead of coffee stir sticks changes the look a lot already, I love it! I bet those would look great as half-logs if you can manage to cut them in half. Also the look and feel of your videos has improved a lot over the years. It struck me while you were showing the tools around 1:00, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. The editing maybe?
Hey Keggers! Lately I have really started to enjoy finding fun filming angles! And I recently bought a new camera, which has stepped up the quality of the videos. Hopefully things get even better over time!
Those bridges look extremely good! I did something fairly similar for a board I'm making, but I could've used so much more color and bits. I'll keep this video in mind for my next project!
Not annoying at all. Warcry is one of those games I have been thinking about lately. Trying to decide if it is something I would want to try and get back into. Unfortunately, with the constant quarterly upgrades, price hikes, and the struggle of "keeping up with the Jones' " it is making it more and more difficult... 😐
@@DiceChatter Honestly, you don't have to necessarily use the latest rules or warbands. Your battle report format was the best on all of UA-cam and this is not an exaggeration. I honestly tried watching myriads of other channels but I couldn't even finish one of their reports. I don't know what you do that make yours so easy and fun to watch. If you decide to return to Warcry, just do what you did and it will be fine :)
I love how just some simple details like bits and rope really elevate these. The pearl cotton looks perfectly to scale as rope! What size did you use? I'm looking to pick some up for myself for a build
Great work! I loved all those terrain bits and making each bridge unique. I personally would prefer if the bits were first primed but hey, your build, your choice!
@@DiceChatter Ah true. I somehow still refuse to admit brush on primers exist. Either way, the whole piece looks good, I might steal a few ideas of the entire piece for my custom warcry terrain :)
I like to believe that voice over Donny is a different person then background antics Donny.
You’re right. Background antics Donny puts his grocery cart back where it belongs.
I'm always impressed by the production quality on your videos. You definitely deserve more attention!
Thanks Nutmeg! I appreciate you saying that! It has been a slow process, but I am always trying to make the videos look and feel “better.”
agreed
@BillMakingStuff thanks Bill!

Can't wait to see these used in the next Frostgrave season!
Soon Joe… Very soon 🥶
I concur! Have you considered covering any of the specific expansions connected to frostgrave? Could make for an interesting campaign maybe.

Thank you Selrahcmoonandstar! Glad some of my thoughts can be used on your future bridge builds! Thanks again 🤓
OCH DONNY!! I've been away, now I'm back - what a video to return to, love it mate 🥰
Of course Robbie, anytime pal!
@@DiceChatter 🫡❤️
I wasn’t sure about the colors but the bridges came out awesome!!!!
I was thinking the same thing as well! Just gotta trust the process. 😅
@@DiceChatter absolutely!!!
It's awesome, thank you very much! Your projects don't fail to bring something atmospheric and new to the terrain crafting 🤩
Appreciate the kind words! 😁

Tu es vraiment mon créateur de décors préferé sur YT ! encore une excellente vidéo !
Merci beaucoup! 😁
Awesome stuff! Gratz on getting noticed by Army Painter.Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Ryan I appreciate it buddy! 😁

There are some ice lollies they come on round sticks i have found these a useful source for wooden rods of appropriate scale. 🙂👍

Thanks Daydam! And please do, happy to be a small helping hand with your projects 🤓
Nice build! Can't wait to see all these projects used in a game!
That is something we have in common!🥶🥶
I am definitely guilty of simplistic walkways on my tabletop, maybe it's time to expand my horizons 😄👍
Expand away! I’m not gonna stop ya! 😅
Those turned out really good.
Thank Jordan, appreciate it buddy!
Great work as always Donny. Wouldn't miss any of your videos. Though can I be annoying and express how much I miss your Warcry battle reports?

Obrigado, deceptmasterjj! 😀
I love your vidoes, and your builds man. Thank you so much ... these are great.
Thank you, Shane! Glad you like them! 🥰
These turned out really great I'll have to try these out 👍
Thank you and please do! I'd love to see how they turn out!
@@DiceChatter oh yeah! I could show a photo when I get a chance 👍
they look really fun ^^
Another great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching JTrow! 😁🧙♂️
Great work and great video ❤
Thank you so much 😀
The round dowels look much better than the coffee stir sticks. However, I wonder how it would look if you used the two together.
Not a half bad idea! May have to think about trying that out!

Size 8! Probably should had mentioned that in the video... And glad you enjoyed the build!
@@DiceChatter Thank you!
The MOSS! Man, I love all of this, but the moss is incredible. As a Florida Man, I feel seen.
Happy to be of service! 🤓
Great video. But those arrows stuck in the dowels WILL get snapped off after 1 game :D
I hope you are wrong Cage! 😬😬😬
Looking great Donny! Bridges are a staple of tabletop wargaming for sure!
Thanks as always Dave! Appreciate it buddy 😊
0:06 I legitemately whinced. I built terrain for too long I think. Please give ample warning before engaging in violence.
Hahhaha I love this comment! Thanks for making my day! 😀😀
As always, impeccable ideas and execution - Great job!
And as always, I appreciate you Kim! Always enjoy your comments and feedback. 🤓
nice work, i always use coffee stir sticks for bridges but with round one's it looks sturdy as hell
Thank you! And yes, the dowels are a bit sturdier.
Great work! I loved all those terrain bits and making each bridge unique. I personally would prefer if the bits were first primed but hey, your build, your choice!

@@Numerlon no worries at all! And please steal whatever you’d like!
Love these!
Thanks as always!!!
If you soak the dowels in water for a couple hours, you can then use a peg board "jig" to get some bends and 'natural' curvature/growth
Oooooh, that is a neat idea Powersave! I'll have to give that a whirl next time!
