A thought about the join line...maybe use it as a sedament layer line...carve a couple more under it and paint/ wash each layer different colors. Might be worth a shot on the next one.
My thought exactly. See, for example, these chalk cliffs: www.allposters.com/-sp/Chalk-Cliffs-at-Cote-D-albatre-Etretat-Posters_i13198289_.htm I would probably not try to stay really parallel, and I might even use the join line as a boundary layer between differently tilted layers of sedimental rock.
this looks like a cross between a piece of pie, the Loch Ness Monster and an Elephant. its a nice piece of terrain Mel. I am enjoying all your jungle and island terrain to get inspired for some Ghost Archipelago terrain. I like that rock texture effect, I can use that on my islands in some parts and then carve it into beaches in others.
Ahhh, thankyou for this one Mel. I've just discovered cruel seas and came straight to your channel, i knew you'd have done some amazing terrain for the game. Thanks for the info and inspiration mate.
Amazing work and so well explained, and I'm so glad that you keep the parts of the video that you make little mistake on, sure helps me as I'm no master of making at all so mistakes are kinda my thing, but thanks to your tuition my scenery is looking so much better. Keep up the great work and thank you so much again for all you do.
I'm just starting on modelling a stretch of coast between Folkestone & Dover for a section of model railway. This has given me some great tips that i think is going to make it a lot easier, Cheers!
The coastal scatter terrain should start taking even more hits with the release of Black Seas. Thanks Mel for some top scenery master classes for everything that I now need for my ocean boards. Will these also be included in the book? 👍👍👍
I really enjoy watching what you do here, and your imagination is top class. I haven't been watching your livecasts for a while, as I've been pretty busy of late. Keep up the awesome job you're doing bud, Cheers :-)
Really enjoyed that. The guys I trained with used to use wider seascapes by using car bodyfiller & dimpling it with thumb prints (latex glove to avoid prints) might be a technique to consider if anyone's doing a wider diorama?
for your water features you should have a look at Lukes APS site as he has some cool water featureing techs. Just a sujestion. But nice work on the headland
A true artist. Thank you for the wonderful video.

I love this channel. Great stuff!
Cracking tutorial. I needed to know how to create a chalk cliff and cutting - excellent, just the ticket! Thank you!
Another great tutorial. Thanks, Mel.
Looks fantastic - thanks for the tutorial. I'm thinking of using something similar in a Battle of Britain diorama.

Can't get that Wickes stuff in the South anymore. I have North-envy!
It's colder up north bud ;-)
Awesome ! Would work perfectly for Dystopian Wars.
But please use protection when melting/cutting polystyrene as the fumes are highly toxic !
Awesome work. Mel the stuccadore.

Looks great, as always :)
Nice terrain piece, well done!...Bill
Wow. That looks amazing! I wish that high density foam was easier to find in California! I've only found small thin sheets at home improvement stores.
Thanks matey
To be fair, its a pain to find in England as well.
Not cheap either....
Excellent, thank you for sharing !

Would that be used on the edge of a tabletop? Or how would you match that up to a multi piece terrain setup?
I'd just have lots of table edgers built to the same theme mate
This would work great with airfix battle of Britain type aircraft pictures/ dio
Struggling to find this foam where can you get it in uk
Thanks d
pro-warm or jackodur insultation, or panel systems, or bluefoam.co.uk
That looks good😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😗😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
What? No palms? You're not Mel, you're an imposter! ;) #scnr
