    What are some of your favorite hot tent gear items?

    After using my CJ140, I immediately thought I need a rug or something for inside and a firewood tote! I would add a whisk broom and dustpan to help cleanup.

      I've got one of those too, just didn't mention it here. Thanks for sharing!

    ... Good gear set up for the intended camp ... car camping or snow machine or Pulk sled .... Big fan of White Duck canvas products ,, tents , , tarps etc. .... Winnerwell stoves are great as well .. just cut firewood to fit , no problem ... but if using a large tent ,, get the large size stove ...... also recommend getting the water tank that sets/mounts on the stove ,,the convenience is worth it ,, coffee,, tea ,,chocolate,, and cup-a-soup can be a day long warmup ........When camping in this fashion ,, no reason NOT to have the sleeping system to be comfortable ... ...... Good video for the non backpackers out there ,, and there are many ..... For firewood cutting use a saw for cutting lengths (chainsaw or hand saw) ,, hatchet or short handled "Boys axe" for splitting ....

      Great input, thanks for taking the time to share! I like the idea of that water tank, might have to get one soon.

    I am sold on the cots and sleeping pads. Makes cold camping more comfortable for sure! I'm checking out Costco's inventory early this summer. Thanks!

    For stoves you might want to consider Caminus stoves. Extremely efficient. I’m wondering about the two forty degree bends in the stove pipe? I’ve thought about doing that as well but was worried about creosote build up. Like you I about my only choice for firewood is softwood. Good advice and Amen on the sleeping bag although I use a down rectangular bag with a flannel liner and a pad and cot of course. I use the folding marine issue version. Takes more room but ease of set up makes it worthwhile to me.

      Nice. I haven't used the Caminus stove but I'll check it out. I like the two 45s because it avoids a hole in the roof that could leak and it's easy to take apart and clean so hasn't been an issue with creosote any more than the straight pipes.

    This is a really well done, thought out video. Nice job!!! I not much into car camping, but I still picked up some tips. I had to chuckle at around 9:28, when you mentioned the old school, flannel sleeping bags, and "bedrolls". Our little Elk hunting group (now all retired) has been hunting together for at least 30-35 years, in a wall tent, here in No. Colorado. If someone showed up with "one of them fancy little mummy bags", they would have to sleep outside. 🤠 Once again, great job. Happy trails! Roger Subbed!!!

    The ridgepole doesn’t seem to hefty for snow

    Hi sir that tent is a water proof?

    • @theoutdoorempire
      @theoutdoorempire  Рік тому +1

      Yes it is. The canvas material does a great job at keeping rain, snow, and moisture out while still being very breathable. It's a big advantage over nylon or polyester tents.

    The spark arrestors aren't particularly good on the winner well stoves. You shove a fan in that stove, and you'll have sparks all over your roof.

      Ya I've thought about wrapping some finer mesh around it, but it hasn't caused any problems yet.

      ... Huge fan of Winnerwell stoves ..............Why would you shove a fan in the stove ?? ..

    You should never sleep up against the tent wall

      Very good point. Fortunately canvas doesn't sweat like synthetic tent materials and when you got a pile of kids and a dog, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
