    Girl after I saw the finished dresser I ordered the 2 floral moulds. BAD INFLUENCE!!! Icant wait to get busy. I re did a dresser and used the Birdsong moulds. I think I'm going to add some of these new ones with the birds. Wish me luck.

    I am loving this dresser update. I have a couple of questions though. Why not sand and paint the dresser before applying the clay pieces? What glue did you use to attach the embellishments? But this dresser turned out gorgeous!🥰

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Shannon! I probably could have sanded it before hand, but I wanted to leave on the hardware so that I could judge how far I could go with the decorative pieces. If I had taken them off and applied the clay pieces...I might have realized later that I went too far and I wouldn't have been able to get the hardware back on, so for me....it was just easier to do it this way. And, as far as, painting goes....because I was having to leave the hardware on....I just decided to paint everything afterwards. The glue I used was Titebond Wood Glue. It's the BEST! Well, hope that helps and thank you for the BEAUTIFUL compliment!

Now to your question....I believe you are asking what glue I used? The glue I used was Titebond. It's the BEST glue!!! If that wasn't your question...just let me know. Ok? Have a GREAT night!

    Great work.but when use the furniture is it danger to broke this flower forms because is from clay?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! I actually use a two part epoxy resin for my furniture pieces for that very reason. I don't want anything to break on anyone and epoxy resin is very strong. It's hard to break once it's dry. The Paperclay is better for crafts.

    I saw your posting in Facebook-Thrifty DIY Home and just HAD to come see your process. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE this and greatly appreciate your talent and the time you put into this. I too, want to know what type of glue you used. And I also want to know why you didn't sand and prime before you applied the moulds. I ask not to criticize but because I always read from others that you should sand and prime before you paint IF you are not using chalk paint.

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Tammy! I'm so glad you found your way here!!! Thank you so much for the compliments! As far as, why I didn't sand it and paint it first was because I needed to leave the hardware on, so that I could judge how far I could go with the decorative pieces. If I had taken them off, I would have possibly went too far with the decorative pieces and wouldn't have been able to get the hardware back on. So for me...it was just easier to do it this way. Make sense? Now, in regards to the paint....I use is paint and primer in one so, there is no need to worry about priming your piece first or anything like that. I sand it to get the sheen off and then paint the entire piece with the paint and primer in one. I always do two coats and have never had a problem with it. Hope that helps and again....I'm so happy that you found your way here! You have a WONDERFUL night, my friend!

    Very pretty. Why did you wait to sand the piece after you applied the appliques? Just wondering if there was a reason since it would probably be easier to sand before putting the appliques on. Also, where do you get your moulds from? I saw your answer to another post about the sanding. Thanks.

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Judy Henderson!!! Yea, I usually sand my furniture pieces first, however, I had to put the molded pieces on around the hardware, so that would have meant that I would have had to take them off....sand it....then put the hardware back on, so that I knew how far I could go with the molded pieces. For me...it just was easier to do it this way for me on this particular piece. As far as, where did I get the moulds, I bought the "He Loves Me" mould by IOD (Iron Orchid Designs) and I bought the "Bells Orchid" by Prima ReDesign. Both of these can be found on Etsy. Hope that helps. XOXO

    And did you sell it?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE

      Thank you, Manda Daroski! I use Titebond and it's SUPER strong glue, so no...no need to worry, the moulded pieces don't come off!!! I just finished it this dresser this week, so I'm going to be posting it probably next week. I think it should go fast, though. I've gotten so many comments about this particular piece...it's CRAZY!!! Well, thank you again and if you have any other questions....don't hesitate to ask! You have a BEAUTIFUL day, today!

      I used the Titebond Quick n Thick on my dresser. I had it on and off for sale because things don’t move much around here. I finally sold it and the lady was so thrilled. She has a couple other pieces for me to do. But one of her embellishments fell off. I was just in panic. She wasn’t upset or anything but now I worry. I don’t want it to happen again. I love using molds.

      I believe I sold this dresser for either $285 or $350...I can't remember because it was awhile ago and I've sold so many things since then but that is the range I would ask for that particular dresser all finished. Hope that helps and best wishes on your booth!!! XOXO

    How long did you let the clay set for before sanding and painting?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jen Johnson! The clay I use is magic sculpt, which is a 2 part epoxy clay and it hardens within 15-20 minutes. I did, however, leave it over night before I did any sanding or painting. Hope that helps! Any questions...don't hesitate to ask. Ok?
