Departure angles make this build something that will be in all the next OVERLAND trailer probuilds... not to mention getting power to the axle.. The round camper is so RETRO... very cool..
Totally deserves some time in the public spotlight. While not essential, it would be super easy to electrify the rear axle. It would take some software trickery to get the proportional drive power to match what you want given trailer angles, tyre size or ratio differences etc, but absolutely doable. Could do it on an Arduino or something super cheap and simple. Surely someone on here can code it for him. I can't think of a way to power it from the Deathstar effectively and without making a cluster.
Yea! A Shakedown Cruise! Riding in the mobilehome! My best friend had bought a house for $1, but it had to be moved. She walked along the road filming. Her husband was on top, tethered to the chimney, chopping branches and filming. I rode inside filming. We were all laughing SO hard, we all about wet our pants! From then on, we called her house "the mobilehome". ❤ RIP Liza ❤
Mike I was thinking, if the axle in the trailer had gears in it you could put a pulley on it and mount an alternator on the axle to keep your battery charged. Just like on the old racecars. It looks great and didn't get close to scraping.
Lookin goood!!!! Now, some leather seating, disco lights, wet bar, round bed....woooo. I skipped my meds today. Anyway, loving it!!! Hey, Ethyl! Turning into a great crawler! Thanks guys and Peace Out!
You should totally put electric wheel hubs on your trailer for some pushing and braking assistance. It would be a nice complement to the rear steer on it!
Some moab rollers of sorts for the trailer would be mint! Maybe one big tube over a smaller tube kinda like a steam roller so its low profile and spans the whole leading edge?
2 thoughts flew through my mind watching this: 1. Aaaahh! That's why his truck is so short in the back, so the mobile home doesn't hit... 😂 2. You could ad a hydraulic motor on that trailer axel, that could probably come in handy in some situations 👌 Awesome build! Cheers from Northern Sweden!
Nicely done! I'm pretty sure there will be a few new builds like this coming, it is way cool. I also love the "It's working!" Star Wars reference, so appropriate for the Death Star!
I think Mike's idea of putting the small tire on the front bottom corners of the trailer is a pretty good idea. Camera man down. Hope it did not hurt too much. It's doing pretty well now but I wonder how it will do once it is finished out on the inside and loaded out for a camping trip. It will weigh a bit more when it's finished and loaded with food and camping equipment.
Hey Mike, what if you had a switch that read the vacuum on the engine and would apply electric motor power to the camper wheels when the engine was under load? SIX-wheel drive when needed, automatically! Then it could switch off when not under load. LOL, A steering wheel on the tong jack and some cleaver controls and it would be so cool to motor around in camp without the truck! 🤔 🙄 🤪
Mike this thing is actually super cool. Stoked for you dude. You're going to have a ton of fun in that mate! The additional wheels at the front is a great idea. You could even use some of those rollers that go on boat trailers and put them across the whole front on a single axle and not just the corners. I've seen bearing mounted ones and they are meant to take a lot of abuse!
Now watch The Long Long Trailer @1953 starring Lucy & Desi. All it needs is a few pieces of aluminum sheet metal pop riveted on the holes, and then a comfy interior. Ikea makes some super light bed frames for cheap. Throw a piece of foam on it, and you have a bed that weighs about 10 pounds. Weld up an ice chest holder, cut a hole in a 5 gallon bucket's lid for a bathroom, and you are just about done.
Interesting shakedown, looks like your vision of this trail rig is fairly accurate! Congrats! Just narrowing down your clearances should be fun!! Thanx !
A trailer break mounted on the pinion output of the campers diff might be a very good idea, a bit tricky to enginerd with good fine control and get safe if it's just a open diff though..
Love to see this awesome idea come to life and see it in action, even if it was just a proof of concept test run! Camt wait to see the rest of the build and more runs across the rocks! Great job
When you add the interior, everything must be contained. Nothing like throwing away your broken food containers. There is a reason that it is illegal to ride in travel trailers. They are not structurally sound when rolling over. They tend to fold up and kill the occupants. Add a roll cage to that thing if you intend to ride in it, please. I pulled a pop up camper with my Jeep on many trails (50 years ago). Tore the hell out of the inside first time. Had to replace the wood floor with sheet metal etc. to keep the mud and dirt out. All the labels on my food cans came off because they got encased in mud. I had surprise meals for several weeks.
Love it I have an idea for breaks on the trailer . put a center yoke break on it with electric trailer controls and just lock the hubs when ya get to your dig . I.d.k is super cool cool great concept
That's like the coolest trailer fur off road I have ever seen that is very awesome can't wait to see it finished the rear steering on that thing is awesome man
Looks like your steering van works well, nice weather and a few mate's, looks like a great day wheeling, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Glad you got to trail test the camper after soo much hard work. Looks great and did well, like your idea about the small wheels on each side just in case.. it'll be heavier when finished, any thoughts on adding breaks to it. Someone should sponsor you on batteries and solar panels.
Excellent fab on ya trailer brother! As soon as I seen it working my old stone’a mind gos “ food trailer “ park up next to trail and rake in that green, Thinking it needs to have a fried baloney? ( we call it luncheon meat ) on fry bread , call it after that young offenders ‘club’ our friend was at in his younger days Excellent work on camera 😂 ( leave me ,you go on ) get that shot no matter what happens 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🤙🏼🖖🏼
I love it, when you take a piece of crap, and after weeks of work, you have a mobile piece of crap.
That is sooooo accurate!
Time to start polishing that turd!
While that's true, why prototype on expensive stuff? Concept proved. If he ever wants, he can yeet the shell for a spiffy one!
That camper has better off-road capabilities than some 4WD vehicles!
The DeathStar pulling Tatooine with Anakin in the background yelling "ITS' WORKING!"
Don't know what you're talking about.
@jefflilyea4669 it is a statement. If tou have watched the movies.tou can figure it out.
🤣😂🤣 It sure does look like Tatooine sometimes
"we're going to need every inch of it". Where have I heard that before!? 👀
Mike's a genuis !! Can't wait to see this Overland setup hit Lockhart.
It's cool that you nerds got girls interested 😜
Is that there what engineer types call Proof of Concept? Outstanding, Mike!
Ethyl is badass...
The rear steer is the bees freaking knees.
Nice, 100% successful mission as far as i can tell. Great work!
Departure angles make this build something that will be in all the next OVERLAND trailer probuilds... not to mention getting power to the axle..
The round camper is so RETRO... very cool..

Mike maybe electric brakes on the trailer, you and Shawn are great guys,
Mike can't wait til these outings can become not just day trips but overnighters...nice comfy bed and fire place etc...thats the life Mike. 👍
Where would you take that thing camping?
@@JohnShalamskas
Anywhere and everywhere, that’s where ❤🇷🇴
@@clivehorridge I guess what I really meant to say was, where are you ALLOWED to take that thing camping?
The little trailer that could! So awesome!
Great job Mike. That thing is a work of art in engineering
Yea! A Shakedown Cruise!

That has been worth the wait to see it in action. Mike has a vision & sees it through. Nice job Mike
Hey Dirtbilly Deluxe! Now that Mike has discovered the glory of constructing with wood he's gonna become a WoodBilly! Ride ride ride!
All I have to say is...FRICKIN AWESOME!!
I know the Blazer is called the death star, but this setup is giving me more Spaceballs "Lonestar" vibes!
Mike I was thinking, if the axle in the trailer had gears in it you could put a pulley on it and mount an alternator on the axle to keep your battery charged. Just like on the old racecars. It looks great and didn't get close to scraping.
Mike the mad scientist, if you ever in N Dakota I have a 1973 15 ft travel trailer camper with fridge and stove , table…. I’d love to give it to you
Lookin goood!!!! Now, some leather seating, disco lights, wet bar, round bed....woooo. I skipped my meds today. Anyway, loving it!!! Hey, Ethyl! Turning into a great crawler! Thanks guys and Peace Out!
One of a kind camper👍👍👍

Great job the camper performed! Can't wait to see your vision for the interior.
Got me some Mad Max thoughts watching this. Pretty impressive!
Pretty cool Mike! Maybe some rock sliders would help, esp when it has more weight in it. And trailer brakes too since it would be easy to add them.
My first thought... what in the hillbilly hell? lol i love it
The offroad camper is a win!
That’s didn’t disappoint!!! Only thing I will say is you better pack well, and secure everything down!!! Haha 😂
I got dibs on riding in the trailer!🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂
Watch out for those wheel clearances but aside from that what a proof of concept. Congratulations on a job well done
That was a great video. Guys
appreciate it
things doing good out there didn't hit the back. It was close,
but looks like it's working well.
The camper is going to be so cool when it's livable. Not that it isn't cool as is.
That's insane, nice job. I love that it's called a Talisman, so mystical.
I dont see Mike putting anything but paper plates and plastic cups in it, that thing has zero suspension. But that thing is awesome!!
Nicely done! I'm pretty sure there will be a few new builds like this coming, it is way cool. I also love the "It's working!" Star Wars reference, so appropriate for the Death Star!

No. You're going to take a ride on the wild side.

I guess that was not a bad idea after all . Good job Mike .
I sit at a desk all day and my hands are soft, so I really enjoy seeing a different world and how things work. You all seem like geniuses to me.
When you were building the trailer I thought the tongue length looked a little short. Seeing it out on the trail, you mailed it! Nice job.
I'm impressed Sir! Good job.

Wow.. best is yet to come, nice work Mike 👍😎✊
Mike was definitely the coolest guy in Moab today! Thanks
Call that camper the Eagle 5 like in Spaceballs.

That camper looks perfect! It'll be interesting to see how it handles as it puts on weight. But awesome job!
It would be cool to attach an electric motor to drive the trailer wheels when needed. Batteries could handle those short bursts.
And maybe use it for braking too?
A trailer break mounted on the pinion output of the campers diff might be a very good idea, a bit tricky to enginerd with good fine control and get safe if it's just a open diff though..
It worked out perfectly..looked like tire inside trailer was really close to cross support...proud of you Mike

You might not need the wheel/tire corner sliders, that trailer is already taking 5’ ledges like a boss!
...way better than I could have imagined! Rocking it!
Damn good job Mike.
Your dream come campers coming along Nate.👍🏼🤟🏽🤙🏽😊😎🙋🏽♂️✌🏽🌲
Brilliant Mike, just F**kin Brilliant.
Finally the trailer! Cool , your hard work and brilliant concepts, paid off 😎 Nice idea with the small tire Mike.
Excellent Mike and thanks for your recording efforts Justin,, another great team effort 🇦🇺
I hope the shitter doesn’t overflow on those steep angles👍🏻 Great build love it👍🏻
The caravan is frickin awesome Mike. Your design, skill and hard graft has paid off. Awesome 👌👍
"This is going to be entertaining." And it was.
to quote Anakin Skywalker ' it's working ' .... and working well
That's the coolest thing I've seen in a while, awesome job mike.
I'm a bit late to this party... (Internet was down) but DAMN dude! You had a crazy vision and you're making it a reality! Well done man!
That thing in combo with the thing dragging it just looks unbearably cute!
All units Irene. I say again Irene… Rad seeing the camp work so well. Nice job Mike!
Love it I have an idea for breaks on the trailer . put a center yoke break on it with electric trailer controls and just lock the hubs when ya get to your dig . I.d.k is super cool cool great concept
I love the trailer steer, that's awesome. That's one of a kind for sure.
That's like the coolest trailer fur off road I have ever seen that is very awesome can't wait to see it finished the rear steering on that thing is awesome man
This is one of the coolest 😎 creations I've S 👀 N ..really like this !!!
Mike you are amazing you know you just started a trend everyone is going to be doing one now
Mike!!! You have just landed on the moon! And now a trend to follow I’m certain Awesome brother
great job mike that thing handled the trails fanatic.👍👍👏👏
Looks like your steering van works well, nice weather and a few mate's, looks like a great day wheeling, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
That’s great. You need to add solar panels to keep the batteries charged.
Sweet Jesus! Great job Mike! Victory!!!
this is super cool but i cant help but think some form of suspension or at least damping on the trailer axle would be nice on rough roads
Glad you got to trail test the camper after soo much hard work. Looks great and did well, like your idea about the small wheels on each side just in case.. it'll be heavier when finished, any thoughts on adding breaks to it. Someone should sponsor you on batteries and solar panels.
Mike that trailer did an awesome job in the rocks. Gotta get the insides done now for sure!
Mike just started a new overlanding trailer mod!!! Great job Mike it looks awesome on the trail!!
I call success ! Don't you like it when a plan comes toghter ! I wonder how it will do when fully loaded ? Thanks for sharing !
If the trailer rocking don't come a knocking 🇺🇸🇺🇸 . Great time as always
That's so weird but cool at the same time.
That thing is so wild. Seeing the Blazer and the camper crossing some of those trails is awesome.
So far, it’s amazing! Great job, Mike!! 👍🏼
Mike electric disc brakes on the trailer!
I imagine it should help a lot going down hills
dude, that thing is f'ing awesome. Good on ya
So glad to see this work very well on the tough trails 🤗
Excellent fab on ya trailer brother!
As soon as I seen it working my old stone’a mind gos “ food trailer “ park up next to trail and rake in that green,
Thinking it needs to have a fried baloney? ( we call it luncheon meat ) on fry bread , call it after that young offenders ‘club’ our friend was at in his younger days
Excellent work on camera 😂 ( leave me ,you go on ) get that shot no matter what happens
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🤙🏼🖖🏼
Great job! 😊❤
The bed looks comfy too! Interior tick!
How much fun was that! That went up and down like best built buggy! Congratulations, Mike! You did it!
That is DE-LUXE baby!!
Stunt cameraman's safety bubble required for Justin. Stat!
