That law regarding not towing DOT vehicles, I bet my life that it applies to public parking and truck stops and has nothing to do with residential parking. Where I live those vehicles are not allowed to park in shared property residential areas AKA rental apartments or condominiums or such. The problem is is that you know law enforcement officers are only given the condensed version, they're not given the exacts and I'm pretty sure it's unconstitutional for a bill to say that a private property owner can't say who and who can't park on their property.
The MOTION Act talks about "commercial lots". Since the apartments' lot is owned by a corporation, it's probably considered commercial. Towing and booting can only be done by a uniformed and photo IDed parking attendant, who must be on-site to respond within 30 minutes. I think if Jeff towed, or booted, a DOT truck, he could be arrested, charged with a misdemeanor, fined, and possibly do up to 90 days in jail. I wouldn't risk it.
From amendment 1: "Establishes that it is an offense for a person to knowingly boot a motor vehicle in this state, whether on a commercial or private parking lot, if the motor vehicle is clearly identifiable by (i) a U.S. department of transportation (USDOT) number issued by the federal motor carrier safety administration". This discusses booting, not specifically towing. But it does say "private parking lot" which just seems crazy to me. Jeff - make sure you talk this all through with a lawyer. That bill goes a little crazy and the fact you could be charged with a misdemeanor seems insane.
@@m_capsa7093 I think it should say public parking lot. Love your channel. I have one suggestion that may have already been made, but anyway here is mine: When speaking to people regarding what the costs of towing are, specifically to folks that are incredulous about the price, my suggestion is to let folks know that it's not just the time and labor that goes into the tow. The costs of your high tech trucks (that prevent damage to the towed vehicles) the insurance, the locked and secured yard (that also protects their towed vehicles), the video of the whole process that ensures the quality of the whole process, and lastly your years of professional experience - ALL play a role in the cost of the professionally handled tow that a car that was towed by you has been through. It's no different than any other professional, the ones that have experience are the ones that people prefer. Getting towed is not something car owners choose, but in this case, they are LUCKY to be towed by professionals that care about the law, and their vehicles. Just my 2 cents worth.
Jeff, I did not read the full bill on towing commercial vehicles, but all i did see was that no devise can be used to immobilize. What I didn't see was anything about blocking that vehicle in. It would still be mobile but I doubt that driver would crash into another vehicle to get out.

Another example of rules being written by people who don't have to follow them. It's the same in office policies, leases, you name it. There's a corollary condition when machines are designed by people who don't have to use them. There should be ways to compel the creator to live their handiwork before it goes into effect. ... On a separate note, I can't believe how much time I spend watching your videos. They're almost therapeutic for me! Thanks for sharing.
Thing is you have law makers at the Capitol that have no clue about local parking and or towing. Sounds like it’s going to be a nightmare for that complex.

When you have a car tire inflator in your car you know they have a leaking tire. In my younger days, 40 years ago I might or might not have had one ! Little legal terminology for Kristen because I heard her use some during episode. And that truck cab I would bet that they were well aware of the new law and was testing it. Anywho thank you ! I officially started my vacation and watching Everything Autos could not have started it off better !! And I love love that new swag. I will never forget, I was 19 years old and my vehicle was a 1960 ragtop bug which I had turned into a Baja bug. I had the oversized tires in the rear and the smaller skinnier ones in the front and I loved that car. I even named it wise quacker. Anyways I woke up one morning too low rear tire and I pulled out my bicycle pump and drove into town because back then gas stations were only in town. Anyways I went to the closest gas station by my job at the time am I asked them to fix the leak. Supposably they did. But 6 hours later as I was driving around my car started acting funny so I parked it and I got out and I looked and the same tire was now flat. This was in Riverside California in the late 70s and I was on Van Buren boulevard by the old Kmart and the Kenny shoe store. In fact I had pulled into the Kenny's shoe store parking lot. There was a payphone there and I called my dad and I told him I have a flat. He asked where I was. I told him. He asked is the Kmart still open? I said yes. He told me to walk over to Kmart and to buy a bicycle pump and to pump my tire back up. And I did. And all the while the shoes that salesman in the Kenny's shoe store were. laughing at me, not a one ever came out or offered help. I had to stop and pump are back into my tire three times on the way home, through Orange Groves add dirt roads. Mind you this was 1978 and the world was different then, but it was still scary! I made it home and since I made it home I couldn't complain to my dad any or else he would have just said well you made it home didn't you? Never mind all the serial killers that were active in Southern California at that time... Lol😅
Thanks for the great PSA about leaving the bears alone. Leave all wildlife alone, it might save your life. You have the best demeanor to deal with people who you have towed away. Nice and calm.
16:46 mark... It should NOT be legal for a city, county or state to write an ordinance or law which says commercial vehicles with a DOT number CANNOT BE TOWED when they are parked on PRIVATE PROPERTY...that has to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL as it tramples all over the RIGHTS of private property owners when someone TRESPASSES on their property...whether they are walking, parking, visiting without authorization, it doesn't matter. IF there are NO PARKING or NO TRESPASSING or NO PARKING signs and it IS private property, the local government CANNOT terminate the property OWNER'S rights. The new "law" needs to be CHALLENGED by a bunch of private property owners there.
If that semi driver lived in my complex and parked like that, they would find out real quick that it was more trouble than it was worth. There are all kinds of ways to make their life a living hell, and expensive too. :)
To pass a bill like that applying regualtions acrooss the state for a problem that was primarily occurring around Menphis truckstops shows how much the TN legislature likes to grandstand rather than pass effective bills that help out regualr citizens.

The bill could have been written better. The problem comes in when a towing company tow a commercial truck less than 5 miles and charge the company $65,000 to get it back. We hope to meet you all Jeff and Kristen. My dad is starting to believe y'all are not real. Plus I would be really heartbroken to have to leave without meeting my favorite UA-camrs.LOL
Great vid! Easy solution for the illegal semi...comes out in the morning and the tires ran out of air. Solved.
They have air in the truck for the brakes. Minor inconvenience, nail gun however..
You are slaying it with trying to keeping us up on information about it all😮...❤
Love your channel.
140K Subs! Congrats!
I don't see how they can regulate what happens on private property.
Wow what a mess there! Take care guys!
Thanks for sharing guys !
15:59 crazy new bill
Jeff, I did not read the full bill on towing commercial vehicles, but all i did see was that no devise can be used to immobilize. What I didn't see was anything about blocking that vehicle in. It would still be mobile but I doubt that driver would crash into another vehicle to get out.
I thought of a great vlog for you guys. "How did They Wind Up There-Crazy Tows" Or something like that. Your intro that showed an SUV, a Ford Explorer I think stuck on a slope. 0:34 I'm like how the heck did he/she wind up driving off that edge? 😅👍✌🗽
We were in Pidgeon Forge in April and we were very careful where we parked. My husband got tired of hearing me say look out for the signs where to park!!!
I'm ordering a shirt for my husband this weekend. He will be so happy 😁
LOVE THE SHIRT DESIGNS !!!
Thing is you have law makers at the Capitol that have no clue about local parking and or towing. Sounds like it’s going to be a nightmare for that complex.
Probably take a year or so before them legislators come to their senses , wonder if the trucking lobbyist made a big contribution to get that passed .
Great 👍🏽 job guys 😊
It's good to see Big Red out! 🤘
Would love to see the process to auction off a vehicle…the steps to get there ,etc. love the channel. Keep up the good work
Like the new shirts. You should make one that says Hooked By EA and give them to your customers that need a which out. Kinda like what Matt's Off Road Recocery does.
Call DOT to impound.
The most magnificent beard! Amazing! 😁
I love how Jeff can say The Apartments and ALL of the regular viewers will know where he's talking about. LOL!
Please remember to order long sleeve T-shirts with that those awesome designs. ✌️😁
Looks like people need to start parking around that semi so he can't move.😂
I love the apartments the best !
Okay, I am asking for you to please post a video every night! I really look forward to these streams!
If that semi driver lived in my complex and parked like that, they would find out real quick that it was more trouble than it was worth. There are all kinds of ways to make their life a living hell, and expensive too. :)
I am in Johnson City TN. Love your channel. I am gonna get me one of those shirts. Great content! Hope to bump into yall when we are there.
To pass a bill like that applying regualtions acrooss the state for a problem that was primarily occurring around Menphis truckstops shows how much the TN legislature likes to grandstand rather than pass effective bills that help out regualr citizens.
Love the new merchandise, I hope you put one out in long sleeves!❤❤
like watching these videos just to see what i recognize, just by watching your videos i know where your lot is, next time i am up that way i might stop by to get a picture, even if it takes my car being towed lol
I noticed the logo on your truck, Jerr-Dan. They are made close where we live.
Why I parked my company truck & trailer out of the way just in case of fire or something less traffic ɓe courtesy. Great job you're doing and everyone especially Coven new channel.
I'm addicted to your videos! I think you and Kristen are absolutely amazing people! I'm gonna have to come park illegally so i can meet yall lol ❤❤
The joy in your voice "no parking break now ^_^" made me giggle
Indisposed for 120 days. Hmmm ... Gray Bar Inn?
Hey Jeff good to see big red doing some hooking
Looks like the apt. complex is going to have to add "No Bobtail Parking" sign at the entrance.
The bill could have been written better. The problem comes in when a towing company tow a commercial truck less than 5 miles and charge the company $65,000 to get it back. Maybe write a law that if you charge like that you loose business license. By the way that was getting 2 trucks off of 285 around Atlanta not illegal parks.
I was in Clarksville TN for the 4th this year and it poured down right when we were headed out to light the fireworks 🎆 😢😢😢 sadly I left before it calmed down and wasn't able to pop any I was so upset all the kids had fun though except me(I'm a big kid too) 😅 enjoy your channel 😊
