I bought this exact unit, had it for three months and it has been absolutely flawless so far. Sound quality is a hundred percent better than my factory unit, the Atoto S8 Premium is extremely fast, reliable, looks great. I use my phone as a hotspot, I did try to hook up a SIM card from Verizon but it did not recognize the Verizon network. I'm okay with that saves me twenty bucks a month and I just use my phone as the hotspot and it's extremely fast anyway. Bluetooth auto connects every time I start the car, and the unit starts where it was left off from shut off. The unit starts right away, within about one second.
Yep. Just found this out and very disappointed. Had to order an Audiocontrol Matrix to boost the signal on all 6 outputs to my amplifiers. Still not producing good sound quality.
I've been considering buying a Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine but after seeing this I might change my mind. Just need to be able to hook it up to my steering wheel controls and retain the factory camera
This unit is the truth. I thought that I would NEVER like many of the Android units. I'm rocking a pretty high end Pioneer but I would gladly rip it out of my dash and replace it with an Atoto.

I’m looking to buy and use this exact model with an amp. It seems that 2V and 1V sub won’t cut it. Are there any solutions to boost those signals while keeping things clean? I’m trying to get all the features of an android head unit while having minimal sound quality compromise (I know it won’t be perfect, but, again, minimal comprise). I’m seeing people recommend line drivers and the like. What do you guys think?

I did just order this unit because it all sounds really good... the only thing I am worried about is the sound quality. (And it does suck that there is not a dual channel subwoofer and the preamp outputs are minimal voltage) It's really gonna stuck when they improve those points next year and I already have this. But we'll see how it sounds when I get it. If I can hear the degradation of sound quality... it'll go back.
If you are not an audiophile the sound is ok. I like things to sound good and it doesn't bother me. I only have a small little in dash amp hooked up so it's nothing crazy, but if you plan on amping this thing up...I think the amps will amplify the distortion and it might not sound the best. In my situating though... it's fine. I have it in a JEEP TJ and the wind noise is always there so... it doesn't bother me.
Recently mounted on my 370z. Had some fitment barriers and overcame them. Over all this unit is amazing. Installed myself and it was a breeze, if you have any doubts about fitment issues, I strongly recommend avoiding unless you’re okay with having half your trim removed or using a rotary tool to trim off plastics for better fitment

This has always been an issue with android units and they fixed it by adding 2 Bluetooth modules. And the SPDIF OUT. Full digital sound output. If you have flacs or any high quality music files, the unit can pass them to an external amp on DSP without touching the quality of the file.
It does have aptxhd. I confirmed it through a few apps cuz I don't trust what any company says when it comes to codecs lol My I think many reviewers don't mention it because many people don't have a device that uses aptx. So if they connect to this atoto apx compression won't work. They should still mention it because its part of the head unit. My old atoto had aptx but not aptxhd . And yes it has 2 bluetooth modules. One is name bluetooth 1 and the other is bluetooth 2. The and yes it has SPDIF Out. I ended up rooting my atoto s8 and installed a custom rom. I'm in the process of building my own head unit with a raspberry pi or another SBC 🤙💪
First Chinese head unit I've seen without those two massive power and speaker connectors. Huge plus! What would you want optical audio out in a car for, BMW and Mercedes compatibility maybe? That screen resolution is common in many tablets. There's lots to like about this unit, but 2v preamp outputs is weaksauce. And why not a USB type C 3.0 at least?
It has built in process, you don't have to use the extra module. It's wired into the harness, then you set in menu. Can only use volume and maybe track forward, call buttons won't work
Yup, just download the app... the app has so much in it... videos, and a small memory of each station where you can go back a few hours, so if you don't like a song you can skip it.
I like the video on the unit it offers a lot for the price my only concern is will I be able to retain my steering wheel controls on my 3 gen Toyopta Tacoma

There is a couple things I'd highly recommend: - look at what it takes to install for your vehicle, that way there won't be any surprises. (Unless you're having someone else do it) - Make sure you get the version with the wireless steering wheel remote. It solves that "tactile" feeling of not having a volume knob.

20w RMS is more than enough for everyday Joe. Decent bass that can be heard at low volumes. Provided that you have good factory speakers or decent aftermarket speakers.
Hello. Thank you for the video. Does this model finally have a true sub out? Previous models fail in this unit as they are coupled to the volume. Hence, increasing volume also increases sub out. Buyers beware of this if you have separated amplified sub.
Every unit I ever saw that has a sub out varies the sub out volume in sync with the volume control, including home audio. If it doesn't then you turn down the sound and the sub would still be booming away. Or you turn up the volume really high and there wouldn't be enough volume to the sub! Doesn't make sense what your saying. Then again I have only been a professional in the home and automotive audio service business for 40+ years... lol I have a S8 version Gen1 in my car. Lets me adjust the sub output level and sub crossover frequency and Q width. And of course it goes up and down in volume when you turn the volume control. If not life with it would be VERY annoying... 😂
I currently have an ATOTO unit that I bought exactly 4 years ago and so far it been working great the only issue that has is that my SWC doesn't work with my head unit and the second issue since is 4 years old back then it came with Android 4.4 and a lot of apps are not compatible anymore and is kind of sluggish if you are opening 2 or 3 apps. It gets really slow when switching between google maps and youtube music. Is time for an upgrade this one seems to be a beast, but don't know if I wanna spend $600.

that laginess from map apps is very common for all units. Brand new premium cars I've rented had laggy maps from what I remember. Thats underpowered gpu/graphics card problem

I believe he showed part of them. It has separate adjustible 20-250hz high pass filters for the front and rear speakers. If it's anything like my Joying Android unit the setting for the sub are in the system menu and consist of a 20-250hz adjustable low pass and subsonic filters as well as a level control.

1 year update here !!! Volume up button has to be pressed extra hard to work. Installed a micro sd card that worked for a few months and stopped. Can't access it unless i pull the unit from the dash. Every once in a while the system will just reboot itself out of knowhere. I'm not for sure that any of these issues other then the volume up button may not be user error. But i can say for sure the button issue is a factory defect. Im the only person that drives the car and no passengers ever touch the unit ! Car only gets driven about 4 months out of the year , weekends only to car shows and home. Questions ?? Are there any software updates for the S8 Gen 2 10" units ? Ive been tempted to try a cricket wireless pay as you go sim card in the unit for onboard internet service. Has anyone had any luck ? Also the bass boost option , details , any help on exactly how the function works in detail would be appreciated ! I can say overall Im happy with the unit for the price $$$
I believe it supports both input/output with an accessory that plugs into one of the USB ports. But I just bought a 7" gen 2, so maybe not on the particular model in the review.
Connecting it to a audio processor. I use a Joying HU and connect it to my AudioControl processor. 2V Preout isn’t that great so it’s nice to have optical to bring back the signal to the better processor.
I installed one last month. Half the features didn't work, and then the screen started a continuous rolling half way through a 9 hour trip. Uninstalled and returned in less than a week. It did have excellent sound, and the ability to fine tune your audio experience.

I don't believe ANY touch screen head units have detachable faces. Either settle for a traditional, single DIN unit, with detachable face or a touch screen unit without. The cool part is that with an Android unit like this you should be able to remotely lock the unit when it gets powered on again and even see where it is on a map.
Is it awkward to set up all the antennas? I'm thinking of grabbing one of their headunits but the number of antennas.... Probably still gonna try it out, but gonna get it off Amazon so I can return it if things don't go well :p
There's a 7" Ultra that's only a couple of inches deep. There's plenty of space behind that unit if you chose to go that path. I was able to squeeze in a canbus decoder, radio wiring, four USB cables, wifi cable, and gps cable back there with plenty of room left for more.
I've also been researching to find a answer to the wireless android auto, the only place that states this is Quality Mobile Video, Atoto site doesn't say android auto is wireless. Can anyone confirm either way?
The main difference between android headunits and the American manufacturers is the Android software. You can download any app, store files, etc. The other's can't

So based on this review I ended up buying it from Amazon. I want to love it but 3 units later and still defective. It's like an android tablet in the car with 4G and wifi broadcast capability which is great for long family trips in our van but it's just too flaky. First unit was defective with pointer placement about 6mm to left of actual pointer location. Support responded between 6-12 hours of each email. Returned to Amazon. Replacement #2 4g sim slot wasn't recognizing my 4g Tmobile sim card. Emailed support and after first initial response, support didn't respond. Sending back to Amazon. Replacement #3 inserted Tmobile 4G sim card into slot before connecting power wire and it worked beautifully. After removing sim card to properly plug and screw in head unit, reinserted sim card before plugging in and now head unit will not recognize sim card. What good is a sim card slot if you can't ever remove and re-insert? Other things to note, hard reset with button or factory reset in Android doesn't fully reset the unit no matter how many times I tried. So you can't actually return the unit to factory and theoretically resetting sim card slot.
I had my atoto head unit for a long time and never had issues. There probably was a batch of bad ones coming out! And the reset button is to force restart if it froze or your trying to restart it so you don't have to unplug your car battery because the atoto stays on even when you turn your car off. The reset is button is not to factory restore it like new! Most reset buttons on other products don't do that either. Only a small amount. Sucks you had a bad experience! I tried many Android head units and these are the best ones I came by! I even rooted mine amd put a custom rom on it!

I use the optical on an Android HU to connect it to my audio processor. Great when these RCA outs are crap.
a lot of DSP,s use a optical cable. its cool too because you can just run the optical cable instead of multiple RCA's

I currently have an ATOTO unit that I bought exactly 4 years ago and so far it been working great the only issue that has is that my SWC doesn't work with my head unit and the second issue since is 4 years old back then it came with Android 4.4 and a lot of apps are not compatible anymore and is kind of sluggish if you are opening 2 or 3 apps. It gets really slow when switching between google maps and youtube music. Is time for an upgrade this one seems to be a beast, but don't know if I wanna spend $600.
How much was it back then?
@@OneManOnFire I paid $230 to $260 back then, now is only the 7 inch. This new model still doesn't support oem AWC.
@@tonyvelasquez863 Take into account that resell value is pretty high on the A6 still, that and customer support were what made me pull the trigger on this unit. But I use SWC Interface module so that part isn't an issue for me

I wish I'd get this, but I see that for the steering wheel controls, it has a jack connector. My mk3 MX-5 doesn't have that connector I think. How do I go about that?

that laginess from map apps is very common for all units. Brand new premium cars I've rented had laggy maps from what I remember. Thats underpowered gpu/graphics card problem

Yes. There is also a setting to disable video playback while in motion. My guess is that it uses GPS speed to check if you're moving.

I believe he showed part of them. It has separate adjustible 20-250hz high pass filters for the front and rear speakers. If it's anything like my Joying Android unit the setting for the sub are in the system menu and consist of a 20-250hz adjustable low pass and subsonic filters as well as a level control.

Awesome unit
1 year update here !!! Volume up button has to be pressed extra hard to work. Installed a micro sd card that worked for a few months and stopped. Can't access it unless i pull the unit from the dash. Every once in a while the system will just reboot itself out of knowhere. I'm not for sure that any of these issues other then the volume up button may not be user error. But i can say for sure the button issue is a factory defect. Im the only person that drives the car and no passengers ever touch the unit ! Car only gets driven about 4 months out of the year , weekends only to car shows and home.

They can if you have internet connection to the unit, they cannot if you are screen mirroring.

That jvc is a beast I would definitely take that one. You'll have a better chance of everything working with the android units you never know....

How can you use the SPDIF out?
Connecting it to a audio processor. I use a Joying HU and connect it to my AudioControl processor. 2V Preout isn’t that great so it’s nice to have optical to bring back the signal to the better processor.

The S8 Gen 2 10-inch display screen is 1280*720p, higher resolution than that of 7inch
I installed one last month.
Half the features didn't work, and then the screen started a
continuous rolling half way through a 9 hour trip.
Uninstalled and returned in less than a week.
It did have excellent sound, and the ability to
fine tune your audio experience.
That's the curse of the small manufacturer all Android software based units.

I don't believe ANY touch screen head units have detachable faces. Either settle for a traditional, single DIN unit, with detachable face or a touch screen unit without. The cool part is that with an Android unit like this you should be able to remotely lock the unit when it gets powered on again and even see where it is on a map.
I think a stock head unit would suit you well.

You can just hide them behind the head unit
There's a 7" Ultra that's only a couple of inches deep. There's plenty of space behind that unit if you chose to go that path.
I was able to squeeze in a canbus decoder, radio wiring, four USB cables, wifi cable, and gps cable back there with plenty of room left for more.
No need to expose any of the antennas, they work just fine under the dash.
As far as I can tell, the unit does not state that it supports wireless android auto.. am I wrong?
I've also been researching to find a answer to the wireless android auto, the only place that states this is Quality Mobile Video, Atoto site doesn't say android auto is wireless. Can anyone confirm either way?

@@alhamedi66 do you want a tablet with apps and decent sound or a true quality sound controlling audio device with a screen as a controller ?. So far there isn't anything that has the best of both worlds.
So based on this review I ended up buying it from Amazon. I want to love it but 3 units later and still defective. It's like an android tablet in the car with 4G and wifi broadcast capability which is great for long family trips in our van but it's just too flaky.
First unit was defective with pointer placement about 6mm to left of actual pointer location. Support responded between 6-12 hours of each email. Returned to Amazon.
Replacement #2 4g sim slot wasn't recognizing my 4g Tmobile sim card. Emailed support and after first initial response, support didn't respond. Sending back to Amazon.
Replacement #3 inserted Tmobile 4G sim card into slot before connecting power wire and it worked beautifully. After removing sim card to properly plug and screw in head unit, reinserted sim card before plugging in and now head unit will not recognize sim card. What good is a sim card slot if you can't ever remove and re-insert?
Other things to note, hard reset with button or factory reset in Android doesn't fully reset the unit no matter how many times I tried. So you can't actually return the unit to factory and theoretically resetting sim card slot.
I had my atoto head unit for a long time and never had issues. There probably was a batch of bad ones coming out! And the reset button is to force restart if it froze or your trying to restart it so you don't have to unplug your car battery because the atoto stays on even when you turn your car off. The reset is button is not to factory restore it like new! Most reset buttons on other products don't do that either. Only a small amount. Sucks you had a bad experience! I tried many Android head units and these are the best ones I came by! I even rooted mine amd put a custom rom on it!
