Loved all the scenery. Us east coasters are always so easily blown away by the openness of the west, but it is so beautiful. I like that you share your frustrations too. Lighters don't work when expected making for unforeseen adaptations, cold soak soup turning out to be blech, the hole in the food stuff sack, etc. It's a realistic experience and informs those who wish to get more into backpacking of what issues they may encounter in their future adventures. We'll done video!
Thanks again for watching the video and taking the time to comment! The east has its fair share of beautiful places but the American West is on a whole other level! Thanks again for commenting, it means a lot! 👍
Wow! Amazing Jeff, you really do inspire me. I love the fact that you set your mind to doing something and then go and DO IT! The topography, flora and fauna, so different then PA, obviously, but wow just amazing. You really are not just a great hiker but a great videographer as well, im just amazed and excited to follow your journey. Two Bridges Lodge looked awsome place to stay. So much happening in this video and attention to detail its hard to even comment and keep up, im amazed! Where did you buy them lighters man, are they bobo lighters, lol! Here's a serious question, from a content creation perspective. How were you able to record so much footage through the course of the hike? I mean technically speaking, how did you keep batteries charged, upload footage, etc... How do you do that on a long distance hike?
Thanks Walter! The lighters worked the first few days then just died...weird...lol Two Bridges Lodge and Hostel was so nice! Felt good to just relax and watch a movie. I used an OSMO action camera (GO PRO's competition) and a cheap $20 expandable tri pod for the "walk away shots" The tri pod was kept in one of the outside pockets which is easily accessible so when I wanted to do a "walk away shot" it was easy and only took around 2 minutes. (yup, I timed it...lol) Sometimes I would fall behind other hikers whose company I was enjoying because of the filming, which was definitely a down side to filming my hike. For battery power I just used an Anker Portable charger with "1.21 gigawatts" 😊 I would plug it in while in town to refill it. (that's what most long distance hikers do) It was enough to charge my phone (which was on airplane mode most of the day to save juice) and my OSMO camera. I didn't upload footage while on trail. I just switched out the sim card for each video and planned on editing when I got home. (although lots of long distance hikers upload footage while in town and just film their hike with their phone which I considered, but I wanted to relax as much as possible while in town and not have worry about uploading a video.) Are you familiar with Jeff Mitchell? The author of hiking books on Pennsylvania! He was doing a thru hike of the CT as well. I met him on the first day of the trip! Super nice guy! I have "Hiking the Endless Mountains" on my shelf. Thanks again for checking out the video and your very kind comment! Shoot me an e mail if you like, I'd like to pick your brain about how you make your beautiful videos as well! jtpennj50@gmail.com
@@fivehorizons5295 that's crazy that you ran into Jeff Mitchell I knew he was out there from his Instagram. I have the book as well, it's helped me out a lot with ideas and information for many of my day hikes. Thanks for the detailed response I will send you an email!
