    This is one of your better videos. I like the way you go through and test one thing at a time. So cap's and batteries are more a like than I thought. From what you said "Cap's can go bad just over time". So it's kind of like flash light batteries sitting on a shelf. You go buy them and they are already dead. So have you ever bought a new cap. and it be bad ? You said you thought it was a bad transformer on another board. And it was best to replace both. Is that because you think the board with the transformer may be bad as well ? Sorry if this sounds silly or what, but all this is new to me.

    • @TampaTec
      @TampaTec  11 років тому +2

      yes when in doubt change it, inverters have transformers that go bad commonly and take out other parts. you should check out The super capacitors they are the Future!

    Makes sense. Sometimes what one sees is the effect, not the cause of the problem. I worked on cars for 35 years, and I've seen one thing that failed only to find out some other component would get cooked too.
    I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone replace a burnt out component only to have it fry the moment they turned the key because they went no further than what was in front of them.
    Example: GM has a control module that controls the fan speed to the HVAC system in the car, and when the fan starts to draw a high amount of resistance due to wear on the brushes and armature in the fan motor, it burns out the control module first before it stops working altogether. The fan still works like normal, but because it draws more amperage than the module can tolerate, the module burns out, and the fan stops working.
    Many techs will replace the burnt out module, the fan works again, but a week later the new module is fried again if not right then as soon as the tech turns the key depending on the amperage draw. Sometimes it takes replacing multiple parts to repair problems.
    Thanks for the presentation.

    I've watched a few of your videos here. They are very informative. Thanks for doing this. I have an LG 50" Plasma model 50PN6500-UA.BUSLLHR. It's 2.5 years old. For the most part the TV works fine but after it warms up, if you play with the volume or mute buttons on the remote it shuts off for a couple of minutes then comes back on. I called the LG tech support line and they said they have not heard of this exact problem before. Have you ever run into this problem. What board do you think will need to be replaced?

    thanks for all of your vids you helped me get my TCL running again. however i still need help and i hope you can guide me. i have a TCL 40fs3800 that is 1 year old and i just replaced the main board in it. it doesn't work correctly in that the picture is upside down now fuzzy and snowy. the colors are messed up also. can you help me out?
    this originally had a solid red light and no start up from manual button or remote, i shined a flashlight on the screen and saw nothing. then took it apart looking for obvious problems such as caps and burn outs. nothing... so it didn't take but about two seconds to see the power supply and main were all one so i went and purchased a used one online for $15 and replaced it. now it turns on but video is not right. got any ideas?

    Hello Tampatec. thanks for your videos. they are full of information not just crap. My neighbors TV got broken instantly while they are watching. I checked out and there is no sign of living. Its a 47pfl.... Philips tv. It has a dps 298 4 amps power board on it. I checked out the output voltages. All of them is showing 0 or very close to 0. I checked all diodes. Two of the diodes are shorted. They are parallely connected. I thought may be there is another connection that makes them short. Removed them from circuit measured them again, 1 of them is completely short other is sometimes short, sometimes 200. They are labeled as SB260. I don't have any, also in my country there is no. I think they are 2 amps 60v diodes. I have two questions
    1. which diode can I replace instead of these?
    2. Do you think that replacing will solve the problem?
    Ps: I don't have anything to measure capacitors but they look well (no pop, burn etc.).

    Hey man great videos! I have a Samsung LE32R88BD, I've had it for about 5 years and recently the picture went and all I have is sound. The backlight is still working as I can see it and i've tested the power board and it seems okay, with no bulging capacitors. Any other ideas what could be the problem? Thanks

  • @thomaswstorm
    @thomaswstorm 9 років тому +2

    Hi Tampatec. first off thanks for the vids. i have watched all of them over time. i also refresh when i have an issue like now. The Fizio board you are working on here is from a vo47l, or close to it. It looks the exact same. Question. all caps are replaced. the cap blown in the vid must be a common problem. I have stanby volts and less than 1 volt going through the 24v lines, 0 v turned off. it comes out of standby but does nothing else. the relay is clicking.
    i tested the bridge rect and it tests good. what video do you recommend for further testing or what parts would you test next?
    TIA thanks stormy, student extraordinaire

    My Samsung flat screen tv's picture has a shadow that is very appearent when using the station guide. When you play a dvd it's nice and clear. I've already replaced the cable and the cable box itself. I think it's a faulty cable connection port. Have you ever heard of one going bad if so what would be the fix.

    I have a Samsung 32" (2008) LN32A450C1D model that has lost color. Regardless of being on cable or antenna the picture appears in a negative view. The images defined & sound is good. The TV indicates it has a weak signal, however it had been working just fine. Other TVs have been used to validate the signal with no problems. It appears to point to the Ant in portion of the TV as the problem. What do you suggest? Thx in advance

    Hi I have a Samsung Surround DVD player Model HT-H5500K, Model code HT-H5500K/XA. This is the only appliance that I Earthed until one day a Lighting Storm struck, at the time the TV and DSTV decoder were also on but nothing happened to them. When the lighting struck hit us it tripped the earth leakage and that's the last time my surround system worked. After inspecting it inside I cannot see any burned damage or smell anything that has burned, yet a company that I took it to for repairs tells me it is unrepairable and I don't believe them. Can you advise?

      some tv tuners are better than others, use amplifier but sometimes loose connections on connectors can cause weak signal and bad solder connections on tv turner board can weaken signal, (make sure you use rg6 cable)

    Quick question... If a capacitor it suppose to measure 47 uF and my meter measures like almost 2,000 uF from that capacitor instead 47 uF does that mean that the capacitor is bad as well?
    Reason for my question is because it already happened to me when I was measuring my ps3 power supply board and all the capacitors measured pretty closed according to each range in each one of them but except the only one that I'm mentioning above.
    I'll wait for your response
    Thanks in advance

      take cap out of circuit and read it, check meter settings and put in fresh batteries in meter too then check it again, but when in doubt change it out. ps3 usually main board goes out first.

      Kim Richards in the back of tv there's adjustment dial for flyback transformer focus and crt screen B+ voltage be-careful not to dial b+ cause picture get either darker or brighter with lines, i think focus dial is labeled on transformer. Sub if this helps 8^)

    My name is ART.
    I have a Sylvania 6727 FDE CRT TV. I hope you can assist me with this bit of a dinosaur. When I attempt to turn on the set it clicks once and does not come on. This is a TV that we would love to keep going as it also has a DVD player and VHS player. I was given this TV when I acquired a property about a year ago. It has worked until recently but was very slow coming on and getting a Blurr-Free picture.. It has been used outdoors since its purchase. We were told it was an "outdoor unit"? It is mounted up high under a covered roof and it is not subject to direct water damage. When I do use my remote to turn on the TV I see a very quick little green lite then immediately it turns red then immediately shuts down. I do NOT have any manuals whatsoever but would like to obtain both the repair manual and the owners manual. Would you propose that my issue is a Power Issue? Could you also direct me to the manuals? Regards, ART

    Hi. I have a Samsung Plasma TV (PN60E550) that is giving sound but no picture. The problem has slowly gotten worse and worse. For a while after several attempts the picture would finally come on (and often while on and working the red light would blink), then it took a lot more attempts and now it just won't generate a picture at all. I watched some of your videos and opened up the TV. None of the capacitors appears to be buldging and there is no obvious damage or corrosion anywhere. So what is the next step? I don't want to remove all of the components and test every single thing .. how do we narrow the problem down to one component from this point? Any help is very much appreciated!

      I just watched your samsung plasma tv video and I wanted to add that I tried unplugging the y board and checking to see if the tv screen would come one. It did not. So that means the issue is not the Y sus board right? I really don't know anything about this kind of stuff total noob so I don't want to dissassemble these boards to test / replace all the caps. my soldering skills leave a lot to be desired. Please let me know what you'd suggest from here. thanks

    I have a Sony Bravia Midel Number KDS553000, Serial Number 8014995. The problem that I'm having is that I have a picture, but it is dim during daylight where I can barely see the images. At night the images are more visible, but there seems to be more of a bluish color. Any help in diagnosong the problem will be appreciated. I had just recently changed the lamp.

    LCD monitor is switching on but no picture is appearing.the remote is unable to switch off the monitor. It is able to auto tune but no picture appears. What is the problem? Maybe the popping sounds before TV got into repair mode has some capacitor problem! What is to be done?
