I’d forgotten some of the old Hollywood stars that appeared on this series over the year. Watching these videos is a huge walk down memory lane. Thanks so much!!
It was a brilliant idea to have so many actors well known for other tv shows, or well known stars from the past appearing on The Love Boat. It is sad though that so many are no longer with us
This was the first one of these I watched, not noticing how long it was. After the 10th guest star, I was like…wow, this must have been a movie. Then the song recycled and I was like…what the hell? Then it all clicked. I love it! Now I have to spend the next hour watching the others, lol.
One thing I love about the Love Boat is that it gives me a chance to see actors playing some other role than what they were famous for. Like Catherine Oxenberg, I know her from Dynasty but never saw her in anything alse. David Doyle, he was in Charlie's Angels, but I haven't seen him in anything else either. Sometimes people were given roles in the Love Boat which were very different from the characters that they were known for, and that was always really fun.
This makes me love people so much! I play this at half speed so I get a good look at everyone. Everyone looks so endearing, peppy, and beautiful! It warms my heart! Many of the ladies’ hairdos here are different than what they had on the tv shows they were known for (Priscilla Barnes and Cathy Lee Crosby, for example). This is also cool because here we saw certain younger stars beginning to “age”! Or some of the last of their acting roles before they died too young (Dana Plato, for example)…
They look endearing and peppy because they're enjoying the simplicity of the 1970s. If they were living in 2022 they'd be scrolling through their phones and frowning.
“Vacaciones en el mar”, “Love boat”, cuántos recuerdos de una época pasada, cuántos actores que están en mi memoria, qué maravillosa canción llena de euforia, que me sigue gustando como entonces.
LOL - Happy Days, Love Boat, Married...with Children (although he as on that show 6 years, so it wasn't completely "jumping" the shark - he rode it a bit lol.
@@jenniferbice8998 Yes, but back then it wasn't being shoved down our throats and we didn't know what party each and every star supported. I liked it better that way.
I would love to see a compilation of all the stars on one for the entire run of the series. A list of what seasons each one was on would be great. Yep that’s a lot of work but wow what a star studded guest list.
Season 8 of "The Love Boat" (September 22, 1984 to May 4, 1985) occured at the time of Season 2 of similarly-formatted Aaron Spelling series "Hotel", as most of the supporting cast of "Hotel" made appearances on "The Love Boat".
My parents watched this show. I wasn't too big on it at the time. When it was on I was either working at the local full service Amoco station or out cavorting stoned with friends. This was late 70s. I wasn't aware that it was in production for so many years. The manager at the Amoco would watch it on a black & white portable G E television on the desk with his feet up on a table.
I have previously watched the seasons 2 and 3 clips - a number of repeaters here. Glad to see ERNEST T. BASS on board !!! And plenty of guests that I have no clue as to who they are.
This is the 8th and final season to use this title sequence, and the radar/compass style circle with four hearts, and the guest stars in alphabetical order inside the circle wrapped around them on "The Love Boat" with the title theme sung by Jack Jones. And this logo is now used in "The Real Love Boat" a dating game show on CBS.
And I was surprised to hear Dionne Warwick singing the title song in the 9th season. Also, Lauren Tewes had to go because she couldn't get control of her cocaine addiction.
@@Dr.Pepper001 you're right on, 👍 and Dionne Warwick screeched the title theme in the final season which was updated in season 9, and which used an update of Jack Jones' title theme heard on The Love Boat. 🛳️

Watching these all in a row you see just how many actors made perennial appearances on this show. This was even more of a who's who of the time than Battle Of The Networks Stars.
This is a wonderful time capsule of 1985. The beloved, favorite older actors, some coming out for a last hoo-rah; and the new and upcoming, thin and gorgeous -- some of whom may have been paid in cocaine. O, whatever. This is Love Boat. Anything goes.
Lorna Patterson for the win, Eileen Brennan from Private Benjamin (The TV series), Jimmie Walker & Jill Whelan from Airplane & James Noble from Airplane & Airplane:II The Sequel

I feel so warm and tingly when I hear this song and watch the show it just shows how beautiful ❤️ the people are and how well dressed they are.
Even in the future of San Angeles (3 sea shells and all) it is an acceptable song.
