I was never a real fan of the Love Boat, but I have to admire the fact that the series gave valuable work to older actors and actresses in the twilight of their careers.
Just think: Everyone who was involved with The Love Boat or watched it is now middle aged, retired or dead. And all of them are yearning for the "good old days."
It also helped some young actors at the start of their careers. For example Michael J. Fox appeared on the show a few years before he became famous for Marty McFly and Alex P. Keaton.
When I was a kid, I always dreamed one day that I would get to pose for the opening of this show, and then it went off the air. My potential in life will never be achieved now.

Just found these and it was such a great nostalgia trip watching the guest star credits of all the Love Boat seasons. So many then current TV series regulars, familiar recurring guest stars, and legendary older actors and actresses getting exposure to new younger audiences. Just great. zAll due respect to the great Dionne Warwick, I really thought Jack Jones did a much better job with the memorable theme song. I did love the new look of the credits for the last two final seasons much more, though.
Agree 100% with Jack Jones…. When you heard his voice it was that comforting feeling and you felt good knowing it was time for the love boat. I love Dionne, but I just think we grew up with Jack and no one could take his place
