You're a good teacher. UA-cam has got me back to learning guitar and many other things that enrich my life, after leaving so many studies due to horrible teachers. Thanks
49 year-old guy who just started self-learning guitar about two weeks ago. I knew I wanted to / had to learn how to read tabs, but it intimidated me only slightly less than sheet music. This video made it feel attainable. Thank you for what you do, Kurt. Today, tabs; someday ... Master of Puppets. Maybe in a few years. haha Still, I feel like I can get there, now.
thanks man after years of just thinking of starting guitar ive made up my mind to do it rather than thinking of it everytime...a thing i realise now is that thinking and not going for it is the worst thing i ever did in my life so im gonna go for it now at any cost ...this made me clear about the concept of guitar tabs..thanks
11:33 When I LOVE two/more guitar tabs, I choose some parts that I like from one, and other stuff from the other. Then it turns to be my FAVORITE guitar tab:3✨(I have an electric guitar though)
Ok I'm coming back to this thank you so so so much omfgggg like before I ran into this, trying to read guitar tabs was like trying to read cursive Russian. But after I looked up some songs with guitar tabs shown, I can actually. Freaking. Play. And it sounds good for once. Thank you so so so much because I was scared at first that maybe I had wasted my money and I wasn't cut out for guitar. But thanks to you playing guitar is finally fun and interesting for me. Thank you. Please please please keep it up.
These are just the most basic things you’ll come across. I’ve seen so many other things that I came here to try to figure out, and I didn’t find them but great video for beginners.😂
I only knew about the normal fret indicators and the slides, everything else was new to me and I feel like I might have to hard time remembering them all, but honestly that was a really great guide
At the very beginning, it should be noticed for what tuning the tabs are set - standard E, open G, drop D, half step down, etc... There are many tunings for guitars, and tabs set to one particular tuning, wouldn't work with other. Of course, for beginners, Standard E tuning is used mostly, but just to be cautious... Cheers.
Why on earth would they put the low E on the bottom of the tablature when the lowest string on the guitar is high E. How is that natural to visualize as you play? What is the reasoning? Very confusing
it’s the point of view of the guitar. usually when you play your left hand will be on the fret board and the right plays the strings. if you were to look at the strings your pov would be the tabs
It feels strange but I think the reasoning is that higher notes are higher on the tab, lower notes are lower. Which kind of matches the score above if you're using both It would be very confusing if you would see the notes going in the opposite direction. Once your brain realises higher is further away in your hands, you won't notice it It becomes second nature quickly.
What is an open string with parenthesis? Written like (0). Its on the b string and it is played at the same time as the e string. Where im seeing it is a cover of Ænema by max niessl in verse B
miss information you can hit a harmonic tone depending on how well a guitar is set up on almost every string every fret. Also up the neck is the higher note and down the lower note. He has it backward!

What does a number in parentheses mean?
Every time I watch your video, it reminds me of Mysterio from spiderman

Thanks!!!
I KNEW ALL THESE 😭 anyone know what an x between numbers (not muted, like a larger x), crossed out number, and parentheses around a number mean?
Please Make a Fingerstyle Tutorial on Afterglow by Ed Sheeran Please
What do parentheses mean. As in a single parenthesis on both sides of say three notes in the tab. And on both sides of notes in music notation above.
Thanks a lot it helps me a lot
