- In this video I review and show you how to install a phone mount on my E90 BMW. This would fit all E9X offerings.
I install this in my 2008 BMW 335i. The e90 does not have a good place to put your phone from the factory. Sometimes you just want to use your phone with your favorite streaming app or navigation app.
I've seen a few options for the E90 and I think this one is the best as it mounts the phone up high where you can see it without taking your eyes too far off the road.

If you do not use i-drive - I would flip the mount so it blocks the i-drive screen :)

I was thinking of this because its higher and easier to see than the low one you mentioned, plus this was cheap, so I was afraid it was going to be a crappy magnet and wasn't sure about the screws and how they worked. great review, thanks. Might grab this till I get my android head unit later this year.

I am glad that you are making enough money to afford a new BMW when my 08 is done I will probably look for a 34O also. if you could find the time I sure would like to know what all of these sensors on my car do . for instance what are those two sensors under the hood that face each other from across the engine bay? Also what does that knob underneath your phone mount do?
Are there any problems with the compass calibration of the phone for GPS and Google Maps because of the magnet??

Unrelated question, I’m thinking of a tune for my stock N54. I’m pretty happy with the JB4 on my stock N20 but wanted to get your opinion....JB4, Evolve, Bootmod, etc? The only other thing I’d upgrade would be the charge pipe and the coils.
If you want a stage 1 tune for your N54 MHD had decent off the shelf tunes.

I just spent about $1100 on parts. 7' intercooler, downpipes, intake relocation, charge pipe, mhd wifi flasher. haven't flashed yet, If you were in my shoes, what would be your next upgrade base on your experience?

Hey I seen your car has the rear powered sunshade has yours broken ? Mine doesn’t want to go down anymore, when I push the button I hear a noise coming from the back but it doesn’t go down
I do have it yeah and yes it's broken, the plastic clips let go. They make aftermarket solutions that replace the clips. I have a replacement shade to put in, I wasn't planning on making a video on it but I guess I could.

no. the cup holder problem is not solved. Just purchase a new unit or try to open it up and see what broke. If you buy a new one it should last a while before they break again.

Did you remove your wireless charging capabilities? I've been thinking about doing the same install in my E90 but would like to hear if/why you removed it.
I did until I can hardwire my radar. There are guys using a 3d printed tray that bolts in. Look that up, could be a good solution.

If not for the wireless charging I’d definitely switch to this. As it is I went with a mount in the dvd slot.
Yeah wouldn't be hard for them to develop a wireless charger that pulls power from the plugs being the switch.
Way too low for driving in congestion or at speed.
Macht Schnell not much lower than this one as the phone sits above the mount point in a cradle that grabs onto the phone not centered directly on it.
Can you flip the bracket around so the magnet part is on the top?
I don't believe the cut out would be in the right direction.
i have a non i drive and i have no damn place anywhere to out my phone besides my e brake and when i need directions the only thing i can do is put it between my legs and look down

It's linked below. Yeah it would but I'd recommend that you install it on a case and not the phone itself incase you need to wireless charge.
Installation was easy, thanks. I put some Loctite on the set screws to hold them in place. Can you tell us what the red plastic circle is for? It comes with 2 metal plates plus the plastic disc. The lack of instructions is really annoying. Thanks.
Does yours make a vibration rattle noise?
@@TheLoneRanger1992 no it's solid and doesn't rattle. Your need to remove the module it mounts to and ensure the screws are positioned evenly. Then apply the loctite and let it dry.
@@tobewankenobi oh I never knew you had to apply loctite, it is secure an each screw is even on but when my phones on it just makes a vibration rattle noise but not sure why it’s just annoying
@@TheLoneRanger1992 it's not mentioned anywhere that I saw but the set screws don't fit snuggly and they are behind the trim so no way to know if they get loose. So I decided to put some loctite on them. Another idea I had was to get longer set screws but it's still a good idea to use loctite.

Cant you just get CarPlay/android auto adapter for your headunit and use your phone to enter address ect. That way you could still utilize headunit screen.
I have a wired android auto adapter yes. This solution is more for just jumping in the car and within 10 seconds hitting the road.
Think I’ll mount a magsafe charger to it and bam!

I made a video about them, they are aftermarket but look like the m performance pedals on the F series.

I took it out until I get a hardwire kit for my radar detector. Some people are selling 3d printed versions now that are a little deeper and bolt in.

how good is it for HARD driving
I drove on it hard and it held no problem, the magnet seems pretty strong.
but it looks like it blocks your vents?
If you run it vertically it wouldn't really effect air flow.
Much prefer a windshield mount low on the far left allowing full airflow in Texas (very necessary in Summer!) and access to the traction control which I disable in dry weather. Also prefer the higher line of sight when a quick flick of the eyes allows me to keep nearby cars in peripheral vision.

Yeah got the B58B30O1 and has the technical updates. The supra started running this engine for 2021.

Why wouldn’t you just get a CarPlay/android auto dongle.....
I could but sometimes you just want to set and address and jump and the car and go.
Vehicular DIY you can do wireless android auto with it also. Same as using your phone just on a way bigger screen
