That has to be the perfect hat for Derrick...he seems like the nicest guy ever. Not so nice when he is defending you though...such a perfect fit for this team...
As a ball player like me who loves to defend, last thing I would want to do is guard a player like Steph. He's already deadly when he has the ball, but when he doesn't have the ball, he's the deadliest. I would always love the challenge of guarding slasher and ISO's like Kyrie. But damn, Bball gods shouldn't have created the likes of Steph. It's like typing "whosyourdaddy"
I don’t think teams stop Steph. I think he has bad shooting nights and that’s it. When your shooting isn’t there, a defence that wouldn’t affect you normally now seems to be working against you.
This only applies on players with high offensive prowess. Stamina along w/ constant movement + remarkable scoring percentage is so lethal. Just imagine if Klay could still come back from his former self and a much bulk, experienced wiseman.. not to say wiggins, looney, kaminga, green, dang that would be really unfair.
I think Curry realized early on he was never going to be an above the rim player and decided to become the greatest at cardio. He literally weaponized cardiovascular fitness the likes of which the league has never seen. Perhaps Rip and Reggie were the precursors to Curry but I've been watching the game religiously for 35+ years and have never seen a player push the pace like Curry. He's cerebral as well, knows when to shoot big 3's, drive for layups, hit a tough floater, etc. His situational awareness is top notch. If you notice he jumps sideways a lot, he's using lateral leaps to create open looks for layups and around the rim finishes. He's just an unusual player.
Even when i play 2k i try so hard to keep an eye on him and a body on him... When i slip and see him open i just be like "if i get dealt wit i get dealt wit"
Yeah Curry’s stamina is just unreal I understand the comment of his “offense being his defense” he’s tiring you out on the defensive end for 48 mins your legs are dead on the offensive end towards the end of a game it’s crazy
it's one thing to be fit enough to guard him and follow him, but as a defender, you're always a step behind. you are always reacting to what he does so you can't stay in front of him be with him. you are always reacting after he's made his first movement.
Let's look at brain energy. Because Steph has put in the reps and knows where he's going next, it's not mentally tiring. But for the defender, they don't have that advantage. This creates mental stress for them which can wear a player down. In other words, exhaust the mind and the body follows. In the end, the Dubs have had the best or near the best in not allowing points for years now. We might think Steph isn't an elite defender, but the scoreboard tells a different story. He's actually playing a brand of defense on both ends of the court that can mentally exhaust multiple players. This will likely never be accounted for when all-defensive teams are picked, but then the championship trophy ends up in his hands. It does argue for Steph being the GOAT due to this ability of his lower his opponents' shooting efficiency.
Steph is a top 10 guy rn. He brings a rational fear to the sport. You can’t make a mistake around him or Klay. If he even sees the sees the backboard you might as well give up😭

I dont blame him. When I first started watching Steph, I'd think, "who the hell was supposed to be guarding him?" When he hits a wide open 3. Now after seeing how much he moves with or without the ball and his range. I'm just like "shrug, thats Steph, what are you going to do?"
He sounded like he was about to cry explaining this 😂😂😂😂
😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Why the hate
How am I hating? It was just an observation.
That's pretty much the game plan : 48 minutes of where is Steph.
As a GS fan the whole game 6 I was on the edge of my seat. GS was up about 12 with 2 minutes in the game and I was still worried Celtics could bust a few 3’s and they’re right back in it. I realized at 45 seconds left we were winning.
Steph is so hardworking and dedicated that he makes his shots look effortless.
So I’m hearing … when Steph has the 🏀 you can’t take your eyes off of him. And when he passes the 🏀 you somehow have to become even more focused 😱
yes
He’s the best off ball player of all time
@@BonesDMS4life what about with the ball? what makes off the ball grade is what happens when he has the ball the reason you don’t want him to get the ball
@@kgar5 cuz he’s equally dangerous w or without the ball in his hands
@@kgar5 the amount of offensive gravity he provides off ball along side his quick and nimble footwork to get him to his sweet catch and shoots spots. Not only that but he can do it for the ENTIRE shot clock. Like the guy above said, he’s as much of a threat with the ball and without
Hey @JJRedick absolutely love how you interview and drive such insightful discussions. Thank you and Please keep doing it.
I've heard you talk about the scouting report so many times, can you share what it looks like and how it is used?
Steph Curry is constantly moving! With or without the ball!
Steph is agile and constantly moving , finding open space even when he don't have the ball
Ofc the defender will be exhausted
Good to hear D White’s POV . Solid underrated player
Awesome take JJ🙏🏽 Derrick White broke down the challenge in guarding Steph very well but damn…Steph is indeed HIM.
He sounds like hes about to cry
Lmao I thought it was just me feeling that way
facts. lol
Lmfao I’m glad I ain’t the only one who picked that up
That’s just how he talks
@@MannyParadisee Probably social anxiety cause he takes so long to reply and keeps saying uh uh uh uh uh
the way he answered that first question sounded like one of those answers people give the teacher when they didnt read the chapter. like anyone could've said that lmao
😂😂😂😂😂 right
I think he was a little nervous, which is alright
@@qqqmyes4509 facts I love it. Shows that he's human just like the rest of us (despite making it to a place anyone would dream to be in) rooting for him
I find White to be one of the most inspiring players in the NBA. He’s earned everything he’s achieved. Worked hard . This is from a Knick’s fan.
Very likable player. White gets a little better every year. Respect
He said guarding him made him realize what he has to work on in the summer
Love dwhite and his honesty, gl celtics!
Add all of this to the fact that ANY of his shots could be the catalyst to a 18-20 pt. run that no amount of TO’s could cool off is what makes him so lethal.
I bet they keep an eye on Steph when THEY are on offense
Doubtful. Good help defender but 1 v 1 it’s over
Did you watch the finals? Steph was one of the best defenders on the floor!
@@doubleeph8920 Andrew Wiggins was.
@@ffukdemdragons415 keyword one of...
Why doesn’t that work? He’s been to the finals 6 times in the last 8 years with rings
It's gotten to a point where if Curry misses a shot, it's a win for the defense and the way he's playing, he doesn't miss a lot.
I really would like to know what was the scouting report on Steph in 2016 and what it is now then compare them to the draft report.
He was faster then but definitely weaker. Also not as good from 2. He's probably lost a bit of that insane hand eye which is why his 3pt% has dropped comparatively over a season in recent times, but he's arguably a better overall player now than when he was unanimous
@@beastmry yeah I know that. I'm not sure if he lost it or he was/is still adjusting to getting stronger cause his percentage is better this season.
But, I'm not talking about the general stuff we can figure. I mean the more specific things you see in the draft scouting report and the NBA stuff JJ and other players share sometimes like '...keep on his left hand, has difficulty going right'.
Steph had the same injury in 2016 that khris Middleton had last playoffs..Steph came back in 3 weeks Middleton came back in 6 months. That's the 2016 scouting report on Steph
@@tevinsmith4338 for real. I absolutely loathed the media narrative then. Props to Steph for pretty much never being a whiner about it.
Warriors really are lucky to have him. Folks like him and Tim Duncan are the absolute best. No drama chill dudes for the most part who played the game the right way and left it all on the court.
That has to be the perfect hat for Derrick...he seems like the nicest guy ever. Not so nice when he is defending you though...such a perfect fit for this team...
“He is HIM” quote of the year📠
Doesnt want to talk about Steph the whole time... proceeds to talk about steph for half the interview lol
Steph will forever be remembered as a Man who rivals the King.
😂😂😂😂 yeah right, hes not done
Rival?? He's beat him 3 out of 4 times. Seems more like he conquered the so called"King"
I don’t think teams stop Steph. I think he has bad shooting nights and that’s it. When your shooting isn’t there, a defence that wouldn’t affect you normally now seems to be working against you.
You're very true
Love that hat
This only applies on players with high offensive prowess. Stamina along w/ constant movement + remarkable scoring percentage is so lethal. Just imagine if Klay could still come back from his former self and a much bulk, experienced wiseman.. not to say wiggins, looney, kaminga, green, dang that would be really unfair.
🐐 Curry
We talking about the greatest offensive player ever. It's no joke!
If I had to guard Curry I might as well go play NFL with all that running 😂
Nfl players run for like seven seconds at a time. Their long term cardio would be literally a joke compared to Steph
*Yesterday looked like Finals Game 5 again lol*
Derrick White you have a recliner lining, just cut your hair fam, embrace it.🤣
the funny thing about Steph is you can argue he's better without the ball
Even when i play 2k i try so hard to keep an eye on him and a body on him... When i slip and see him open i just be like "if i get dealt wit i get dealt wit"
Damn smoky 😂
Yeah Curry’s stamina is just unreal I understand the comment of his “offense being his defense” he’s tiring you out on the defensive end for 48 mins your legs are dead on the offensive end towards the end of a game it’s crazy
Derrick white sounds like giving a testimony in court😂
Stg everyone who lost to the warriors, “but uh i I’m not injured or if we win that game..I feel like we coulda won the series” 💀😭😭
It sound like buddy finna cry😂
it's one thing to be fit enough to guard him and follow him, but as a defender, you're always a step behind. you are always reacting to what he does so you can't stay in front of him be with him. you are always reacting after he's made his first movement.
As an Oregon fan this triggers me… because we didn’t open the field up that much with him either 😂
Amazing how much different a year makes. Warriors now 13-13
The constant movement of Steph what makes him lethal!
Don't worry about the Warriors. They are the only team that can find 4 different ways to win in a 7 game series. Other teams can't
Em sense it too. He was somewhat told to pg tho. Now is the pivoting part. 90 percent ain’t worth more than a week but is still part of the process
He sounds like Mark’s Doc Rivers impression from RDC world
Boston celtics played like they had PTSD when facing golden state yesterday.
Celtics are allergic to big games lol. 😂
Derrick white seems like a solid stand up guy
It does argue for Steph being the GOAT due to this ability of his lower his opponents' shooting efficiency.
sounds like he's working through ptsd
The main thing with Steph Curry is...if your conditioning is not up to his level you're f--ked🥴
Steph watching this: so you thought about me like that huh? 😏
Drink a shot every time white says “ uhm” or “and” 😩🤣
First step is just find him haha… idk why i laughed so hard when he said that.
Best offensive player to touch a basketball.
now u see him now u dont, that's Steph my goat
JJ Redick is so good at this job. Beyond impressive.
Agreed
Steph is a top 10 guy rn. He brings a rational fear to the sport. You can’t make a mistake around him or Klay. If he even sees the sees the backboard you might as well give up😭
Remember that he once made Dellavedova suffer extreme dehydration from just guarding him in 1 game and have to be taken to hospital.
Sound like a nightmare to guard curry, I’m thinking over everything and sometime overthinking a play because you’re to worry about if he has the ball or not.
