My husband had his interview March 9th 2023 and he was approved at the interview and they took his passport. He was refused on March 15th 2023 and it took 3 months and his visa was issued to him in June of 2023....hope this helps someone and best of luck❤
Hello my friend went for Immigrants interview in February 2020 consular requested extra doc which she submitted then the covid-19 lockdown stated in the process her medical got expired she got a call to get a new one done which she did and was ready 11th November 2020 and now her case was last updated November 10 2020 now it says refused any help

The detail description is for the people who also went through the administrative process for their B1/B2 US visitor visa case. My parents applied for US visitor visa on Nov 03rd 2022 from Ottawa consulate, their interview went smooth and officer approved the visa. We were then instructed to collect the passport whenever we got the email. On nov 07 we did received my mothers passport back with the visa on it but didn’t received it for my father. At that time my father online status was showing Approved and it remained the same till nov 14th. During this time we didn’t heard anything regarding his passport. On Nov 15th the CEAC case status changed from approved to refused and that was the time of getting panic for me. Upon getting information online and from some of the my friends i was able to understand that refused does not means that my father is denied for Visa but the case is under administrative process (AP). Then on Nov 24th almost 10 days pass by the CEAC status changed from Refused to Approved and then the very next day it again changed from Approved to Issued. Finally after those stressful 25 days we received my father’s passport back with the visa on it. During these 25 days they kept my father’s passport with them and upon emailing them we were receiving auto generated reply and nothing else. After the interview the visa officer did said approved for the visa else we were not handed over any kind of form or slips. To advice those who are also getting stressful seeing their CEAC status change from approved to refused that it is actually under administrative process and not a denied case unless the officer on interview day said that you are denied for the visa and returned your passport. When ever the case is under such process they stop showing it as “Administrative Process” just says “Refused” on CEAC. During this status changed cycle if your passport is with them then you don’t have to worry about it let them complete the process and your visa will be issued. FYI there is a chances that they might returned your passport back and again asked for it once the process is complete to issue the visa so keep your hopes alive and lord will make things easy for everyone. If officer said in the interview that you are approved for the visa and now the status is showing refuse so don’t get your self stress for it its their kind of security check they are doing it and soon you will hear from them and status will change to approved from refusal

I didn’t got any email its just the status i was constantly checking and after 28 days it change from refused to approved but every case is different like my brother in law case took 2 months to change from refusal status to approval so don’t worry just wait and you will get positive response soon
IR1-IR2 Visa here and we're still waiting for our passports with Visa and our status is the same as you've mentioned from administrative processing to refused and we don't have 221g and so far no emails or letters from all the offices, so we're just positive that the Visa will arrive soon its the third week now from the interview approval, we will be back for the update.

On the 21 of June 2023 I was re-scheduled for another appointment this time, with my wife over in her Country on the phone. We both answered the questions as truthful as we know. No it isn't denied check the instructions on the letter you got from U.S Embassy if they asked you to submit some documents then submit them. After submitting documents every 2 weeks send email at U.S Embassy for case Status.
My case was previously in Administrative Processing, due to this change it displayed "Refused". On 1st of April 2020 my CEAC status changed to "Issued", but due to embassies closure I did not receive my passports along with the visa. Now on July 17th 2020 again my case shows refused. My mom had her interview June 29th . ( Cairo/Egypt) . Everything went well and they told her congratulations 🎊 you will recieve your passport in 3 weeks. Day before yesterday I had my interview for J-1 visa. The interview went well and the Consular has signed my DS-2019 form and taken the passport. Also, I didn't receive any slip during the interview. Applied for visa via dropbox for myself, wife and 3 kids. My last child who is only 5yrs actually had a valid which expires in 4-months. Rest of the family had expired visas of 10-months. I was the primary applicant and indicated i will paying for all costs associated with travel. Just checked CEAC. My status says REFUSED. That of my wife and 2 of my children says ISSUED. The 5 year old has a status that says ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. A bit confused. Thinking if they were not comfortable with me they would not issue to all of us. And why does a 5yr old have administrative processing status when her older brothers and mother have issued visas. We have all travelled to the US together in the past without any overstays, criminal record etc. I work at the same institution as last previous physical interview and probably more senior now. I haven't received any communication via mail yet as the status on CEAC only updated yesterday. Any thoughts?

But received an email 3 days ago to collect my passport from the collection point. But still the online status is REFUSED and the texts below are for those long one para regarding admin processing!! Don't worry, the online status can be misleading. Until you see the passport, you cannot say the status, if it issued or you need to submit anything. Try to call them or email them,.
The consular officer said to me that everything was fine and kept my passport saying that they had to put me in administrative procedures, what does this mean? IR1, Egypt and he gave me a paper marking on administrative processing only!! (Nothing was missing)

My mom's visa was refused during Dropbox in April 2022. It still says refused. No slip was given. When the consulate was contacted, they said it's under final processing. This was in June. No update since then. Any ideas on what may be going on or what we need to do next?

I finished my interview on 14th Sep, after the interview the consular told me to wait 7-10 work days and he kept my passport and all the documents. Last week I sent inquiry form to the consular office. They replied me by email and said my case was now under AP and I needn't to apply additional documents. I checked the status from CEAC and it was not updated since the interview day. I am not sure how long it will take. I am too stressful.

I was called back for an interview at the consulate. My visa was approved after that. Don’t panic if you’re in the same boat you’ll get a call back from the consulate for further action.

Hi. I have a pretty weird question for you... so, our embassy in Moscow is actually closed right now, but I’ve joined the lawsuit and it forced them to ask NVC to send my case to the embassy. They received it, everything was fine, the status switched to “ready”, they also told me that they are going to schedule my interview in January. Today it was changed to “refused”, but the description below was long, like on the first screenshot that you showed. I emailed them, but I assume that they are not going to be helpful, like usual. Any advice? :(

My case changed from Administrative processing to Refused on the 3rd of March and date was updated to 13th Mar. I was told to go with my passport and send it back with the document via DHL which I did on March 10. since they only required one document is there and estimated period before I get feedback

I have the same issue. Mine was for an f1. My status changed yesterday to refused. From what I’ve learned that when that happens either we get our passport back with 221g slip or the status changes to administrative processing after a few days. If you just get you passport back with no slip it might mean that you’ve been denied. Either way it’s a very vague and confusing situation. Since I got my last f1 in 2017 through an interview which seemed like a seamless process. This waiver thing has me in stress.
Our status changed from Refused to Ready after a week (and counting) but doesn't show as Approved or Issued. I also haven't received any email or call for additional information. Help?????
My Visa Got Approved Status and Showing this text "The consular officer has approved your application subject to final processing by the consular section that is necessary to issue your visa. When that processing is complete, the status will change to "Issued". However, a final screening step must still be completed prior to issuance that could lead a consular officer to conclude that you are not eligible for a visa. If that occurs, the consular officer will notify you that your application has been denied and your status will change to "Refused". Hi Sir, I recently attended visa interview for L1B(blanket). Visa officer told me after interview that visa is approved and handed my signed petition and approval slip saying visa approved. Later on that day, I got an email from consulate that visa is being refused siting 221(g) and asked me to fill and revert back with a questionnaire. Does this mean, initial decision was revised later on or this is mistake from consular end? Please answer Sir, will really appreciate.
Our case is under Administrative processing and changed to refused. We had to submit some info as advised at the time of interview and returned the passport that time. Later on after 18 days of interview Consulate office asked to submit passport. We have submitted the passport on 8th March 2020. We are yet to receive Visa or any other status. Plz let me advice.
I had a visa interview on chennai consulate on 24 Sep 2021. VO said your visa is approved and retained my passport. After 4 days I saw the status showing refused and next week got the passport back without visa. Later on 18th NOV I got an email that my administrative processing completed and submit ur passport. My husband had his interview March 9th 2023 and he was approved at the interview and they took his passport. He was refused on March 15th 2023 and it took 3 months and his visa was issued to him in June of 2023....hope this helps someone and best of luck❤

Hello my friend went for Immigrants interview in February 2020 consular requested extra doc which she submitted then the covid-19 lockdown stated in the process her medical got expired she got a call to get a new one done which she did and was ready 11th November 2020 and now her case was last updated November 10 2020 now it says refused any help

The detail description is for the people who also went through the administrative process for their B1/B2 US visitor visa case. My parents applied for US visitor visa on Nov 03rd 2022 from Ottawa consulate, their interview went smooth and officer approved the visa. We were then instructed to collect the passport whenever we got the email. On nov 07 we did received my mothers passport back with the visa on it but didn’t received it for my father. At that time my father online status was showing Approved and it remained the same till nov 14th. During this time we didn’t heard anything regarding his passport. On Nov 15th the CEAC case status changed from approved to refused and that was the time of getting panic for me. Upon getting information online and from some of the my friends i was able to understand that refused does not means that my father is denied for Visa but the case is under administrative process (AP). Then on Nov 24th almost 10 days pass by the CEAC status changed from Refused to Approved and then the very next day it again changed from Approved to Issued. Finally after those stressful 25 days we received my father’s passport back with the visa on it. During these 25 days they kept my father’s passport with them and upon emailing them we were receiving auto generated reply and nothing else. After the interview the visa officer did said approved for the visa else we were not handed over any kind of form or slips. To advice those who are also getting stressful seeing their CEAC status change from approved to refused that it is actually under administrative process and not a denied case unless the officer on interview day said that you are denied for the visa and returned your passport. When ever the case is under such process they stop showing it as “Administrative Process” just says “Refused” on CEAC. During this status changed cycle if your passport is with them then you don’t have to worry about it let them complete the process and your visa will be issued. FYI there is a chances that they might returned your passport back and again asked for it once the process is complete to issue the visa so keep your hopes alive and lord will make things easy for everyone.

If officer said in the interview that you are approved for the visa and now the status is showing refuse so don’t get your self stress for it its their kind of security check they are doing it and soon you will hear from them and status will change to approved from refusal

I didn’t got any email its just the status i was constantly checking and after 28 days it change from refused to approved but every case is different like my brother in law case took 2 months to change from refusal status to approval so don’t worry just wait and you will get positive response soon
IR1-IR2 Visa here and we're still waiting for our passports with Visa and our status is the same as you've mentioned from administrative processing to refused and we don't have 221g and so far no emails or letters from all the offices, so we're just positive that the Visa will arrive soon its the third week now from the interview approval, we will be back for the update.

What does this mean? Is this already a denied of Visa?
No it isn't denied check the instructions on the letter you got from U.S Embassy if they asked you to submit some documents then submit them. After submitting documents every 2 weeks send email at U.S Embassy for case Status.

Once administrative processing complete , will this status get changed.
My case was previously in Administrative Processing, due to this change it displayed "Refused". On 1st of April 2020 my CEAC status changed to "Issued", but due to embassies closure I did not receive my passports along with the visa. Now on July 17th 2020 again my case shows refused. After more than three months from being issued.

Applied for visa via dropbox for myself, wife and 3 kids. My last child who is only 5yrs actually had a valid which expires in 4-months. Rest of the family had expired visas of 10-months. I was the primary applicant and indicated i will paying for all costs associated with travel. Just checked CEAC. My status says REFUSED. That of my wife and 2 of my children says ISSUED. The 5 year old has a status that says ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. A bit confused. Thinking if they were not comfortable with me they would not issue to all of us. And why does a 5yr old have administrative processing status when her older brothers and mother have issued visas. We have all travelled to the US together in the past without any overstays, criminal record etc. I work at the same institution as last previous physical interview and probably more senior now. I haven't received any communication via mail yet as the status on CEAC only updated yesterday. Any thoughts?

Don't worry, the online status can be misleading. Until you see the passport, you cannot say the status, if it issued or you need to submit anything. Try to call them or email them,.

It is pretty generic, all we can do is wait. Usually, it would have tick box on the 221g that tells the reason.
My Visa status was changed to 'Administrative processing' after 3 days and ISSUED on the 4th day. Do not worry its Visa officer said your visa is approved, your status will change in 4 days. All The Best..

I finished my interview on 14th Sep, after the interview the consular told me to wait 7-10 work days and he kept my passport and all the documents. Last week I sent inquiry form to the consular office. They replied me by email and said my case was now under AP and I needn't to apply additional documents. I checked the status from CEAC and it was not updated since the interview day. I am not sure how long it will take. I am too stressful.

Hi. I have a pretty weird question for you... so, our embassy in Moscow is actually closed right now, but I’ve joined the lawsuit and it forced them to ask NVC to send my case to the embassy. They received it, everything was fine, the status switched to “ready”, they also told me that they are going to schedule my interview in January. Today it was changed to “refused”, but the description below was long, like on the first screenshot that you showed. I emailed them, but I assume that they are not going to be helpful, like usual. Any advice? :(
Well, if it is long text, it is likely that it is in some administrative processing. Give it some time and then follow up with them.

After interview, the officer said approved and send notification within 14 days to pick up visas .But it has been 6 months still shows refused . Hi, came for vacation on march 9.got drop box scheduled on march 13, for visa stamping @ US embassy. H1b and 3 dependents passport was dropped at cochin vac. Until may 10 ceac no status then 11 may changes to application received and finally on 12 it changed to refused. Too much worried v r payin for appartment, utilities, loan. What would happen when they have asked you to update your ds-260 form and after done so, it still shows " visa refusal" and the recent date updated and then in the embassy website shows " IV COMPLETE AND AFFIDAVIT COMPLETE AND U.S. IMMIGRANT VISA IS AT THE CONSULATE??

Hi! I did my IV interview on the 17th of Dec. Was asked to submit a ckear picture as evidence on relationship with petitioner which I did on the 18th of Dec. My case changed from Administrative processing to Refused on the 3rd of March and date was updated to 13th Mar. My 2 year old son is an additional beneficiary and his case has been on ready since the day of interview. What do u think is going on?

thanks bro for the article, after my interview in Nairobi I was given a yellow form 221g and they required a certain updated document. I was told to go with my passport and send it back with the document via DHL which I did on March 10. since they only required one document is there and estimated period before I get feedback
It is hard to know. Usually few weeks. There is no estimated time for processing if in Administrative processing.

I have the same issue. Mine was for an f1. My status changed yesterday to refused. From what I’ve learned that when that happens either we get our passport back with 221g slip or the status changes to administrative processing after a few days. If you just get you passport back with no slip it might mean that you’ve been denied. Either way it’s a very vague and confusing situation. Since I got my last f1 in 2017 through an interview which seemed like a seamless process. This waiver thing has me in stress.

My Visa Got Approved Status and Showing this text "The consular officer has approved your application subject to final processing by the consular section that is necessary to issue your visa. When that processing is complete, the status will change to "Issued". Even after the 2 weeks of the interview the status still shows ready. After the interview consular said visa approved no further action needed. Bt why my status is still ready??

Hi, I applied us b1/b2 visa in 2018 which was approved first and then goes into administrative processing and I asked them to return my passport for travel and never send back because they hold it for 4 months . But administrative processing change to real refused in 2020. for L1B, in Saudi Arabia with approved I-797B petition, in the interview consular office took my passport and then sent me an email asking for some additional documents. I submitted in the same day. I went for H4 renewal Dropbox on Nov 21st and on Dec 15 th status got updated as refused and since from then the status is in refused with updated dates in CEAC portal till now .. So the visa status was changed to approved in 20 days and they didn’t ask for anything. And just after 1 day it was changed to issued

And three days after the refusal appears, they send me an email to pick up the passport that says: 'Our records indicate that your visa document(s) are available for pick up at ASC. An appointment must be scheduled in order to retrieve your documents at the following address... I get my visa or not ? …
your visa was stamped in your passport and you should go and collect from the ASC as it is ready for pickup. contact you ASC

Hi Sir, I recently attended visa interview for L1B(blanket). Visa officer told me after interview that visa is approved and handed my signed petition and approval slip saying visa approved. Later on that day, I got an email from consulate that visa is being refused siting 221(g) and asked me to fill and revert back with a questionnaire. Our case is under Administrative processing and changed to refused. We had to submit some info as advised at the time of interview and returned the passport that time. Later on after 18 days of interview Consulate office asked to submit passport. We have submitted the passport on 8th March 2020. We are yet to receive Visa or any other status. Plz let me advice.
Now all consulates are not processing due to closure. They will process once consulates are going to be opened

I had a visa interview on chennai consulate on 24 Sep 2021. VO said your visa is approved and retained my passport. After 4 days I saw the status showing refused and next week got the passport back without visa. Later on 18th NOV I got an email that my administrative processing completed and submit ur passport. PP submitted on 22 Nov’21. Now status changed from AP --> Refused. The passport is with consulate. Friends , please tell if anyone got the visa like mine. Your comments and help are much appreciated.
